when playstation came out, my grandpa got MGS and me and my lil bro would watch him play it, then we started playing it, then 2, 3, but I haven't played 4 yet, but when they show the old shadow moses mission there was the biggest smile on my face, I NEED THIS GAME

This was the reward for everyone who played MGS from the start. I felt a knot in my throat when the song started playing and when the surveillance camera fell off it's old and rusty hinges I was almost in tears and realized that both in the game's timeline AND in reality it had been 10 years since I first had to sneak past that camera. Nobody who didn't play MGS1 when it came out could feel that way. That was Kojima's way of saing "Thanks for your support all those years. Let's end it together."

the second i entered the heliport and looked toward the front of the building i just put the controller down and let the tears flow. aside from the story of the game which is epic enough in its self i thought back to my own childhood. the time went so fast i swear i feel like I've got accelerated aging too in this scene. i literally just sat back in my chair and brought my hand to my face. what an intense emotion. Well done Mr. Kojima.... Very well done...

I've played MGS1 few days ago and ended it and I didn't cry !!!

and I still cry when I watch this scene in MGS4 :'( it brings a lot of memories, memories when I first played this game in my life 12 years ago!! I can't believe how fast the years can go.. look at this place now?!

I remember the first day I've ever played this game just by watching this scene when Old Snake goes back to Shadow Moses and the he remembers the catchy conversations! Brilliant Game. it's just like real life not a game

It's amazing how much I was effected by the return visit to Shadow Moses. With the music and flashbacks to the camera falling from it's hinges. New comers had no clue what this meant to those who were there playing the original MGS. Even the word Epic fails to justify this scene.

There is really no game IMO that can touch this franchise. When I played this for the first time with the part when the music starts when you come into the heliport. I understood why I have loved these games for so long. that scene gets me everytime, but the first time was so fucking epic. Kojima is the master.

Ideas were used that were discussed but it's all down to the cleverness and brain power of those involved. MGS is the most complex but genius story in the history of Videogames. Just look at the MGS4 Database.

when i first played the game and came onto this scene with all the flashbacks just set the scene to a t and made everything fall into place...hours of enjoyment playing on all 4 games to do with mgs and like a comment i saw previous...coming back to where it all started and finish it and with the songs...i take my hat off to the producers because they sure as hell worked over time on this scene!!

@Mech0515 That's something that's kinda putting me off MGS4 for now. Sneaking was the most fun! Especially in the opening chapters of MGS1. MGS4 looks, to me, dangerously like any other third-person shooter - the sneaking and stealth was the unique part of MGS, from the start. Plus Snake getting old? Errm...not sure on that. Still though, looks awesome :)

@TangmereTornado Don't worry, It's still a stealth game. It just has some third person shooter mechanics so people who don't like to play the game stealthily will enjoy the gameplay a little more. Besides, if you even try to play the game like a shooter at any difficulty higher than solid normal, you WILL die. A lot.

I tried to get the big boss emblem on my 4th and 5th playtrough.. but failed. Big Boss Extreme is so hard.. when playing on this difficulty you have to sneak, otherwise you wont get past the first chapter.

When I first found out snake was gonna go back to Shadow Moses island I was like OMFG NO WAY!

when he arrives at the heliport 9 years later, and you hear the song "the best is yet to come" ...definetly the most nostalgic feeling EVER in a videogame.
