  • Hey Madness haters, Prince Buster likes them! See other video here of PB and Madness performing together on Jools Holland

  • @zellah When I want to chill out I'll listen to Prince Buster's version, when i want to dance i'll listen to Madness. Always have a soft spot for the Madness version as it was one of the first records I ever bought.

  • @zellah Yeah, they did him a huge favor by covering his stuff and getting his name back out there.

  • don't no a lot about this type of music but i know i like it and in my opiinion the original is always best <3

  • This brings back happy memories of FINGALS CAVE Peterborough :)

  • SKA SKINS THE ONLY WAY

  • tsch-k tsch tsch-k tsch tsch-ktsch

    :D love it

  • @Kabamanify wondered how that was spelt lol!

  • @scottsoul64 the proper spelling is "spelled," not "spelt." Now we can talk about other spellings. :}

  • @garettbarr

    Spelt:

    verb

a simple past tense and past participle of spell.

so no actually he was right in the first instance :)

    spelling Nazi failure

  • @garettbarr Could you understand the point he was making or the context of his comment? Then quit whinging, grammar Nazis think that correcting someone's spelling or grammar it somehow makes them seem intelligent. Well to most people with common sense it makes them seem petty, pedantic, childish and makes them look like a total nerd.

  • @jwood36 You dug through old comments on a video you liked, only to find the one negative one and bash it? You couldn't find that one positive comment you agreed with and give it a "Yeah! You're right!" Then you, sir, are looking much more childish and petty. I'm an elementary school teacher and it's a quick habit. My apologies. But I do really enjoy this song.

  • @garettbarr I read the comments that are made when there is no video to accompany it. I enjoy reading them and if i feel that I've a point to make I'll make it. There are pet hates though, so called intelligent Athiests and so called loving Christians resorting to nothing more than vile insults and name calling, and grammar Nazis. If you think my comment was childish well that's your opinion and your entitled to it.

But you had the good grace to apologise and I accept it.

  • @Kabamanify can't hep make that noise when it comes on :)

  • HAY! QUE HERMOSA ROLA DE PRINCE BUSTER!!! VIVAN LOS SUEDEHEADS Y SKINHEADS QUE LES GUSTA LA BUENA MUSICA ARRIVA EL EARLY SKA, Y EL ROCKSTEADY!!! SALUDOS DESDE MEXICO :)

  • Amazing!

  • sam is wrong i like rancid. i like reggae. i like this song because my parents are black

  • Comment removed

  • @SamuelEllmer I would!!! As would any of the original Skin's !!!

  • @vicpur What's a Skin?

  • @SamuelEllmer He means a Skinhead mate, not the racist ones you see in the media but the original 1960's bunch who thrived off Ska music lol

  • @michael583503 Ahhh, ok.

  • @SamuelEllmer speak for yourself. I knew of buster before madness were still in there fathers little willys..

  • @locsman You were listening to Prince Buster in the 1950's? Jesus you are an old ass fart then man.

  • @BDFCBig HOW IS HE OLD ??? MY DAD WAS BORN IN JAMAICA BK IN 1955 AN HE CAN STILL KICK FUCK OUT OF YOUTHS RESPECT YOUR ELDERLYS .

  • @dannielladee I do respect my elders, it was a joke on the timeline of the other comment. BTW It's good to know your father can "STILL KICK THE FUCK OUT OF YOUTHS", I'm glad you have a nice abusive dad as your role model, you are soooo lucky>

  • This is Ska/Blue Beat, Madnesses cover is two-tone thats the difference, love both

  • As long as the artist gives cred and pays the original it's all good. I heard of Madness before I heard of Prince Buster, love both and that's all that needs to be said. Music is music, fuck all the politics, and enjoy.

  • THIS IS MADNESS!

(Used as an expression of course ;] )

  • @OakRidgePunk777 Madness? ...THIS IS BUSTER!!! *kick*

  • @xILambyIx tsssssssss ahhhhh.... tsssssssssss ahhhhhhh.... -peter griffin impression-

  • this is first gen ska, madness were 2nd gen, they took what was old and made it new to introduce it to a new generation and it worked , i grew up on that stuff, and so glad too, or i probably would not have heard the OG ska either, rude buoy forevah!

  • LA MÚSICA Y SU MENSAJE ES PARA TODO EL PLANETA, ES PARA TODOS POR IGUAL, SIN FRONTERAS,NI PATRIAS, NI BANDERAS... ES SKA ES EL RITMO MUNDIAL.

  • incredible. I've never imagined "Madness"'s song was a cover. But.. the cover is GREAT!

  • @pierremerveilleux There were 3 Buster covers on One Step Beyond - The Prince & the title track as well as this one. Even the opening line 'Don't watch that, watch this' comes from another of his songs. He was as a god to us late 70's, early 80's ska fans & the bands, of course - The Specials, The Beat, etc. They all covered the great man.

  • i dont see any problem if was not for Madness ,nobody knows our remember that song ,sorry my english and i salute you from the Azores

  • Madness style is all its own. I like them both. End of Story.

  • I think I like the Madness cover better, but I also think Prince Buster's original "Madness" is better than the cover

  • Original is also good :P

  • the man started it all

  • I remember first hearing this on a tape my brother had labeled "TRADITIONAL SKA". I still have the tape and will forever listen to it.

  • @lozer18 thats music, someone writes a song, another band plays it and does it different. It's flattering when they do it, and Prince Buster makes some money from the writing credit under the copyrights.

  • ONE STEP BEYOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOND!

  • anyone know what they use to make that scratching noise?

  • @GoldDust50 I'm not certain but I think it's their mouths.

  • @DrEmzus yep, it sounds like its coming from a mouth

  • @DrEmzus ya i looked into it. there using there voice cheers man.

  • @GoldDust50 the sound is just pushing air through the teeth like loudly whispering chickachicka chick Its used a lot in Reggae music

  • @GoldDust50 Tongue, Teeth and Lips!!

  • To anyone, who says "fuck madness" i say "fuck this !" /watch?v=WE8FATuziSc

  • Mastro Prince Buster

    One Step Beyond!!!

  • without 2 tone i think a lot of ska would be long forgotten.. i'm sorry but i don't think young jamaicans in jamaica give a fuck about their roots in ska and rocksteady. they are way to obsesseed gloifying violence and murder with bullshit dancehall music.. mind you this is coming from a jamaican american. respect to buster and madness..

  • Everyone screaming fuck two tone really ought to get a grip. You're exactly what's wrong with the ska scene. Fucking elitism. Just because it's older or more obscure does not make you better than the people listening to the other stuff.

  • Whoah, all this hate for two tone and madness!

Chill out and enjoy the music...

  • gotta love him!!

  • fuck cash82m

  • @Cash82Mx Shut the fuck up...

  • @Cash82Mx FUCK YOU MORE LIKE

  • when did this come out?

  • Angie Angel~~~>$upergirl!!

we fond a' da great beyond

    beyond dying we'll be flying

    i luv u

    1000%ROCKSTEADY!!!

  • Great toasting.

  • why "fuck Madness"? - they boys from Britain did a nice interpretation for blue eyed people!

  • "screw Madness" might be a bit harsh, but after checking out some Madness albums hoping for more ska-ish stuff like their "One Step Beyond" cover, I personally was SORELY disappointed

  • @Cash82Mx fool

  • Why "fuck Madness"?

Madness did it all for him?! They even wrote a number about Prince Buster?!?!!?!

  • no need to fuck madness fuck you!

  • why fuck madness? they made a great version of this song... and it was only for a laugh.. and they love prince buster.. their song the prince is a tribute..

  • Why "fu*k Madness?!? They also named the band after a Buster's song and tributed him with "The Prince"! Madness said of Buster "the man who set the beat". They were very respectful!

  • @lozer18

You do make sense. I dpn't see the point. Both are cool, the whole Two Tone thing was a great reaction to the ugly national front surge in the late 70s. Punk, ska, reggae, it boils down to fighting back against stupidity and having a good time.

  • this is the best version by far, this version is so hypnotic, it calms me right down!

  • This is not ska. Is rocksteady, the "father" of ska

  • Comment removed

  • yeah, it was ska, reggae then rocksteady innit :D ?

  • Close - it was ska, rocksteady, and then reggae came last.

  • lol :D

  • not first was Ska... then rocksteady it was slower than ska... then reggae took the rocksteady and added i guess folk stuff

  • Rocksteady is the son of ska.

  • THIS IS SKA. NOT ROCKSTEADY MY FRIEND

  • Love madness. Love Buster. Simple.

  • this is right

  • r u effing kidding. that annoying scratching is the prince toasting over the rythym.

  • yea but the Cover from Madness wudn;t of existsed widout this man =P

  • nice. like Madness better though - they put more verve into the song

  • how can you say that this man help put ska on the map

  • tune !
