Hi, thankyou so much for posting this wonderful video of Nancy. I have such fond memories of Paint Along With Nancy - it was shown in the UK when I was about 7; usually at lunchtimes - I used to watch it when I came home from school for lunch. I always used to follow Nancy's paintings with coloured pencils on paper - I never could cover the grid afterwards like Nancy did with oils though!
Thankyou again for posting - I have wonderful memories of your Mum, and am so sorry to hear of her passing
I loved watching Nancy. It was always when I was feeling poorly and stayed home from school. I remember thinking she was wildly glamourous and exotic with her fabulous American accent! - a million miles away from boring South London in the 70's! Anyway, thanks for this lovely memory - your Mum rocked!
I loved watching Nancy, and yes it was while I was feeling poorly and stayed home from school! One episode sticks in my mind was when she painted with a knife (I think, I was very young!) I do remember thinking that she was wildly glamourous and exotic with her fabulous American accent - a million miles away from from boring South London in the 70's. Anyway, thanks for the memory - your Mum rocked!
Hi, is Nancy's 'Paint Along With Nancy' (UK show 1970s) available on DVD? I was just two when this was shown in the UK but I can remember watching it with my mother and was fascinated by it. I love art and paint myself. I would love to get hold a copy of the show, shown in the UK. Thanks :)
Unfortunately the Paint Along with Nancy series as shown on the UK is not available on DVD...
You can however find copies of her books on painting at many on-line used book seller, and there may even be some used VHS tapes as well. Bouna Fortuna with you art!
@1kozmick1 Thanks for the reply. I just saw your response to my thread on Digital Spy too. Your mother is great. Like many, I have many happy memories of watching this as a child with my own mother..and it means as much to her as it does to me. I think Nancy's autobiography would make a good birthday present for her. Thanks again and best wishes to you and your mom! She and her spatula rock!
I just decided to start painting again after a couple of years not doing any, and who's book should I take of my bookshelf for a bit of inspiration? 'Paint along with Nancy Kominsky'! Thank you Nancy :)
Nancy was totally inspirational to me too in wanting to paint and draw, Im now an artist and designer, a lot thanks to her.. Please pass on my love and thanks to her.
I remember with great fondness the shows she did in the UK. I remember watching them when I was off sick from School, (often for long periods), and it was her that inspired me to draw and paint. Is she still alive? God bless her.
Like many others I too remember Nancy's art lessons on daytime TV in the UK, in the seventies, during the school holidays, and while playing truant during school days too! Along with the UK's late Tony Hart, she was inspiring to many of us youngsters who pursued a career in visual art. Great to hear she continues to enjoy painting.
Nancy is a true legend, many of us grew up with Nancy's shows here in the UK and have very fond memories of her. Please thank her for all her work and wish her all the best on behalf of all her UK fans. Does she still paint btw?
p.s. I posted a video here on youtube of a short clip of one of her tv shows , which is very popular and brings back some good memories for so many, as you can see from the comments posted underneath it. :)
