Something about all modern music makes it sound over-produced to me. It's all this awesome technology, great, for sure, but it takes away an edge and a rawness. Compare this to the Sex Pistols, the Human League, The Stones: it's just too 'smooth' somehow.

Sure the bands you just mentioned, but listen to Rubber Soul, or the Joshua Tree, or even most Queen records, they have the same sleek sound. It's not a bad thing, it's just a production style, and i could be making this up but i believe the maccabees use analog recording techniques on their records.

@1993nima Wild guess based on the sign at 00:09... The underground footage is mixed with footage from an old building in Milan. Also what Orlando Weeks said: "The video reveals areas of the London Underground system that have been unseen for 50 years and beautiful buildings that have become derelict. We thought it would fit with the song. We tried to draw the footage together to make it feel like it had a sort of journey to it."

I honestly think the atmosphere they produce is unlike any other Indie band out there at the moment, probably next best are the foals.

In the bowels of the dead Aldwych Underground Station, you're stranded (it was once Strand Station) in the past, and surrounded by ghosts of that past. The song suggests "it's never too late until it's too late." Like the underground station, if your own personal ghosts overwhelm you, the end can come suddenly. But also, you can "feel" your way out of your dark place by understanding where you are and "follow(ing)" the contours out of this place 'til you're free. Brilliant song! Brilliant video!
