It shouldn’t be surprising to anyone that so-called ‘psychic’ performers like John Edward can come up with accurate facts about the lives of well-known public figures.

You don’t have to be psychic to find interviews on the internet, read Gloria Vanderbilt’s memoir, or find public records on a famous family. And it’s alarming that a show named after a journalist of Anderson Cooper’s stature would promote such harmful nonsense.

I'm not particularly sure of John Edward's so called "abilities". I do believe in something larger than life, and looking at his personality, he seems genuine, and at the very least, he's trying to make people feel good. I can respect that.

In regards to him not taking JREF's million dollar challenge, you have to realize that Randi is a magician, and according to many testimonies, the challenge is (in my opinion, COULD BE) rigged. Randi has a bias against anything supernatural.

Also, it's funny, if I take everything Edwards asked Cooper, they apply to me as well. I knew a Sam, and I grew up on a plot that used to be farm, and I can say that it had two major sections. And as a kids, of course I used to like playing by the water, we had a pond. Edwards supplies vague references, and leys the victims minds point out any positive connections

John Edward is an exploitative fraudster who has been exposed before. He takes advantage of people's grief and credulity to make money. This clip sure doesn't look like Anderson is taking a critical look at him. Hopefully he did in the full show, because otherwise he's contributing to the exploitation of desperate people.

@k0smon Correct a combination of hot & cold reading. Anderson is from a famous family, his mother is Gloria Vanderbilt FFS and He is a celebrity in his own right. So there is plenty of info in the public domain. If Edwards wants to validate & prove he is physic all he needs to do is take the JREF $1,000,000 challenge.

However Edwards would probably say he doesn't need or want $1,000,000 in which case he could give it to charity.

@JohnH108: You realize the million dollar challenge is proof of nothing, right? James Randi is one man, who may or may not actually be seeking the truth. It's entirely possible that he has no intention of paying anybody the money, as he reserves the right to change the terms of a test mid-test. In other words, if he so wishes he can raise the bar higher, and higher, and higher until he no longer needs to pay.

If you think that the million dollar challenge constitutes strong evidence that psychics do not exist, then you need to re-educate yourself.

This guy has a gift! I've seen him on one of the psychic shows on Discovery Channel --- not sure on of those documentary channels. Not everybody can do this. There has a purpose for him to have this gift. A gift to heal I believe is the key to his personality. It would be interesting to know Anderson Cooper when he was a child and see what things he enjoyed to do with his brother before he died.

Wow. Looking forward to the seeing the rest of this piece. John Edwards has always popped into my head when I think about my cousin who was taken from our family 15+ years ago, and how much I miss her. After reading a one of his books that was recommended to help cope with her loss, I actually took my aunt and cousin to see James Van Praagh, shortly after her death, in hopes of getting some answers.
