  • how do you know how much to pull the elastic when sewing it onto the fabric? i dont understand how you get it evenly "pulled"

  • So cute but I have no clue how to use a sewing machine :(

  • Can you just sew with a thread and needles? Do you need a machine?

  • LOVE your top from that turban headband!!

  • 'unsightly bulges'

    HAHA

  • What stitch can you use instead of a baste stitch on your sewing machine? I have a basic one.

  • Yes! Finally someone who calls it a band-oh. I've been taking french for 11 years and frankly, it's quite painful to hear these "uneducated" people call it a band-ue. (:

  • Haha I definitely have the same sewing machine. Great tutorial thank you! :)

  • One question, idk if anyone has asked this already but could I use this same method but with swim wear fabric to make a bikini top? I'm in love with the Victoria's Secret bandaeu bikini tops and was wondering if you could make a tutorial for that? I WOULD LOVE IT! :D

  • @superbandaid23 Eau is pronounced "o" in French, so I naturally presumed bandeau was "bando"

  • @lookunderhere Yes, you're correct

  • @lookunderhere It is a bandeu or bandooo ;)

  • @Rachie252 It's pronounced Band- Oh. not ooo

  • @mizzfitroses Uh I dont see the difference?

  • @lookunderhere UR WELCOME

  • @happybirdlover oh wait i meant to say that to superbandaid23 lol sorry

  • So wait...

    1) Did you open/unfold the pillowcase after your cut it?

    2) What was the length of your pillowcase?

When I try and stretch the elastic as wide as the pillowcase, after I unfolded at the seam, the elastic seems like it won't stretch as wide at the pillowcase!! D:

  • @beguiledchild Oops, I didn't notice that you cut off excess fabric...I am so dumb. Sorry! :P

  • <3 where did u get the black shorts?

  • @underscore808 LOL! we are didn't you know??

  • i love that song in the beginning. me and my friend dance in the street to that haha. I have to try this out too.

  • @Rayasaur Yes do try it out! Lykke Li is coming to Toronto I'm so excited!

  • thanks so much!

  • @er930192 thank you for stopping by!

  • It might be easier to gather the fabric using a long stitch and then sew it onto the fabric. It will take the guesswork out of how much to pull the elastic when stitching and will ensure that the gathering is more even :)

  • @TodayILearnedThat I COMPLETELY DISAGREE!

Haha please don't take that the wrong way. I feel like for most people that would be easier, but I just finished making a skirt, and trying to make my gathers even was SO hard. I gave up. If you have any tips on how to make gathering easier, please share!

Thanks for the advice. If I practised gathering more, I'm sure your method would be more efficient.

  • i love it!!!!!

  • omg i luv u ur so cute hahaha

  • @makeupandmorebyrobin Thanks (:

  • i'm having trouble sewing the elastic

how big of a zig zag are you using?

how much should i stretch the elastic. it looks like you're stretching almost 2x the relaxed length

  • @annbanann if i use a different method: sewing an elastic casing

    would that work for bandeaus?

  • @annbanann That is another method that will work. Regarding the previous comment, my stitch is about 1cm wide. And I pulled the elastic quite taut, I have no definitive answer though sorry!
