i really wanna beat my bf in his ford focus 1.6, i have the d16y8 engine., his top speed is shit because the car shakes, think its crap tyres but mine will go to 120mph-200kph easy. havent tried faster thn tht as i get scared lol. i really wanna drive it to let the vtec kick in in low gears, only had the car few weeks, so i should just run long low gears untill b4 the redline??? dont laugh im not familar with it but bf is bigheaded lol

I used to drive a Ford Escort ZX2.... dohc 2.0 Its slow... i now own a 98 civic coupe ex (d16y8) with little bolt-ons and I can run ZX3's allll day. Escorts/Focuses are not fast, Zetec is horrible...and its a ford. I rest my case. So to "scorpion281973" yes they would run a ZX3....anyday.

Of course a civic with a 55 shot is going to kill a zx3 with just an exhaust... Hell a zetec is 130hp/135ft lb's torque. (at the crank)... even with an exhaust your only talking about 115hp to the wheels? I'm not really up on honda's but I'm sure that motor stock is pushing out around 115hp at the crank with an extra 55hp at the flick of the button your talking 170hp at the crank and maybe 140-145hp to the wheels vs the 115hp to the wheels that the focus is pushing out...

no those hp/tq figures are from the 2.0L 16v Zetec motor... the 2.3L or the D23 was used in the PZEV cars and was an ultra low emissions motor... until 2005-07 when they used it in the ST which is what I drive now... the 2.3L in the ST is rated at 151hp / 154ft. lb's of torque... max torque though is I believe at only 4200rpms...

I have a couple vids of my ST... bone stock with just a steeda SRI... feel free to check them out..... just gotta weed thru all my reptile vids LOL

this focus is a 2.0 Zetec. your power numbers are right for the zetec. The 2.3 is a duratec which has 140 hp, still weak but it's completely tuned for economy

i dont know about new focus's, but i would beat them all the time when i had my d16y8 with just intake and header and pulley system. d16' aint really slow either. slower than the other series, yes. it just takes a true honda lover to understand what these motors can do. but i moved up to a k20a2 since i ruined my d16y8 =P
