We just saw JLT in concert. His show was incredible. We also were lucky enough to meet him after the show. He is an extraordinarily gracious person, taking the time to talk with his fans.
JLT is one of those guys who can´t fake it. He´s way to deep in singing and music in general. And that´s why he´s one of the greatest singers of all time.
In the 80s on the radio there was hardly played any hard rock music on the radio, but there was many who listened to hard rock and heavy metal. Arenas where full.
I thought Hughes did well in purple to start with but unfortunately when it got to the Bolin era drugs took their toll and the band folded. It's a shame. Hughes doesn't screech by the way you screech from your throat and Glenn's technique is far better than that, that's why he's the best these days and others have lost their voices. Glenn and JLT have made a damn good album together too (maybe 2 I'm not sure), it shows how good they still are. Peace all.
Yes that space IS there: You can go see these guys perform. There ARE new successful Rock bands. Turner is part of an oldies show market because he got in as his compatriots were becoming the new "oldies". There is a place for that and he is rightfully ( even enviably )in that place. Respectfully Turner, a fine singer, does not hold the historical position of having a string of hits with Deep Purple so unfortunately cannot hold high billing as oldie act unless he is in Deep P. or Rainbow.
there is no space in the "music business" for hard rock music now, at least the good music we all use to hear during the 80's people like Joe and Glenn Hughes still rocking, and are better rock exponents than the Rolling Stones IMHO (NO OFFENSE)
I love Rainbow, Deep Purple and other great bands and I miss to hear this good music on the radio.
Now I'd pay to see a "Rainbow" reunion with Rithchie Blacmore, Joe Lynn Turner, Ian Pace, Roger Glover and Bobby Rondinelli...! I know, DREAM ON...!!!
Well of course you'd pay..they wouldn't be handing out free tickets....but a "reunion" involving Ian Paice ( not Pace ), would be impossible seeing as Paice was never in Rainbow.
The Classic Rainbow lineup was..Blackmore/Dio/Powell/Daisley/Stone.
JLT managed to keep Hughes quiet, and doesn't Hughes look pissed off, especially when the conversation turns to Blackmore and Rainbow..wassa matter Glenn..not getting any limelight ??
I believe that is true. Hughes did not do well in Deep Purple. Unfortunately, though, neither did Ian Gillan for any length of time. After being with Sabbath for that year, I think he must of used up all his gas and never got refilled lol! He has been a very mediocre singer since that time, not able to reach any high notes, especially live. Also, relatively lazy. That's what Ritchie always said. Seeing Gillan perform live you kind of have to agree.
ojala se volvieran ha juntar , primero que nada los originales purple y si no pues rainbow estaria muy bien tambien, lo malo es que blackmore esta feliz con su esposa candice y su musica medieval.

God that was funny when he mentioned Carole Stevens protecting her daughter's career. Looks like Ritchie will never fight his way out of this. :(
