i gotta disagree. i mean im a local and yes, there are A LOT of shitty things about cali, but it wasnt til i left home to realize that there is no place better. you can live here for as long as i have..and yet..always seem to remain phased by the energy, in a good way. However, i gotta say that i dont enjoy the annoying tourists very much..but thats the only thing i can complain about (and high gas prices and rent

Sunsets are amazing in Cali, but it is a very overpopulated state that always has pollution and smog hanging in the air. Hobos are EVERYWHERE and a lot of the people that live there are stuck up snobs that think that they are better than everyone else. California really isn't glamorous. It needs some serious help

There's a youtube video for a California band who's name I'm trying to remember; it starts with someone sliding into a closet feet first, and the Santa Monica Pier is one of the places in the video, then towards the end of the song the video rewinds and the person is back in the room they began in. Sound familiar to anyone?

Nostalgia got me to look this up.I only lived in Venice and Santa Monica for less than a year,but it is a special place for me and someday I will move there again.I wrote so much of my poetry at the pier.Like a dream.

My old hometown! This is where I grew up! Went to John Adams Middle School & Samohi, and used to hang out at the pier & promenade all the time after school! Would love to go back and see how the new Santa Monica Place looks after construction is complete in 2010! I'm gonna miss the old one, but the new one looks awesome from what I've seen in project development photos!

We just spent the day there yesterday and it was beautiful! It is only an hour or so from our home, but it feels like a whole diffferent area. Thanks for the great pictures.
