At 1:16, he positions the discs in the correct places, but then he hesitates, and changes the second disc to the wrong place. However, right before he changes that second disc, the correct solution is shown by mistake, the contestant seems to be confused, and so are the sound person and Bob. The problem here is that even though the discs were in the correct place, he didn't go hit the button to lock in his choices, so when the solution was revealed it messed up the game.
The best way to play this game is to play your hunch on the first digit, then go through all eight patterns with the remaining three. Whereas, H=higher and L=lower:
This guy played the game right. A lot of times the person doing this game will look at the audience for help. This is NOT a game where you want to be doing that. It just wastes time. Drives me crazy when people do that.
(1) At 0:03 , Bob apparently didn't hear the buzz noise (signifying that the contestant didn't put the discs in the right place).
(2) At 1:16 , the contestant decides to make two changes (instead of one in the previous few tries), confuses the person behind the game and lights up the winning combination, and the clock stops.
(3) At 1:23 , he gets buzzed even though he has the right combination.
I believe there are only 16 combinations to put those markers, and when he changed his routine of just changing one at 1:15 , he tricked the operator into showing him the winning combination, then the sound guy messed up at 1:23 , then the clock even reset at 1:26 . Quite a strange playing of Bonkers.
There is no excuse to lose this game. Higher than an 8?
75% of the time, you can win on the first pick by just placing each disk on the odds pick (less than 5 higher, 5 and up lower). Then just change the one closest to the center if that doesn't work. That will win almost every single time. And nowadays, few people win it.
The problem is some contestants look at the audience. That just wastes time. When you have a time limit, you never look at the audience for help. This guy was lucky to have won. They lit up the winning spots before he was done. You don't see many mistakes like that happen on TPIR.
Probably because some TPIR Fans were used to the classic turntable design. The turntable that is currently shown since Drew Carey took over hosting is pretty cool.
Ron ?! You should get renamed...Barry THE FLASH Allen !

A comedy of errors.
0:03 - The buzzer problem.
0:35 - Reset.
1:00 - Back to normal now.
1:15 - He didn't push the button! Clock stops, winning combo flashes. He changes it again before noticing the flashing lights.
1:23 - Right combo buzzed incorrect.
1:26 - Corrected the buzzer, the clock resets again.
2:15 - After the preamble that follows, the correct price doesn't want to drop down.
Priceless comedy of errors. XD
