Usually employees, vendors and contractors/service techs usually get them for free. I know I used to look forward to hitting some of the businesses because I'd get a couple things each time. They usually hand them to you, have a bin by the office door, etc.

Some businesses are creative and find ways to market them, such as Jelly Belly Belly Flops, bread stores, etc.

People have been known to also waste cans of food all because there's a dent in the can itself, which is rather stupid and it's why they tend to get left in the shops.
