  • You are amazingly spendid my good sir!

  • @hikarurkw Thanks. Now run, the dogs are loose.

  • Comment removed

  • Amazing :) simply amazing, sir !

  • @KasFlynn Thanks :-)

  • I'm loving these aplications, XD

  • The secret to his power is Bergamot seeds.

  • @Mxlsptlk This guy knows what he/she's talking about.

  • @Mxlsptlk This guy knows what he/she's talking about.

  • @Mxlsptlk You are wise.

  • It took me 10 whole seconds to be completely charmed by this. Great work.

  • I would dance with you. You are devilishly handsome :)

  • @rchansing *blush*

  • slaves were set free, doesnt sound so cruel to me

  • Has anyone every told you that you look slightly like Benedict Cumberbatch?

  • @maidmcostumer They have! He's an awesome Sherlock Holmes :-) I also got told I was a little like Matt Smith. Basically any hero from a Stephen Moffat TV show. I can live with this, particularly when Moffat's casting for 'Sherlock Holmes in the future'. It's a time-travelling detective thing I just made up. With me in it.

  • @MilesToGoFilms I WOULD WATCH THAT SHOW

  • that accent is awesome!

and the songs are quiet awesome too.

  • earl gay tea

  • Nowhere near evil enough :(... To clarify, not enough talking contemplating the evil and too much on the teaparties etc...

well put together though musically and the set was great.

  • York represent!

  • I still love this Every time I see it I laugh!

  • @Angelmajora Thanks for the love! We're still fond of it...

  • No, I wrote it while bored at work, and who are you, Simon Cowell? ;-)

  • Great boredom inspires great creativity.

Just saw some other League applications.

I take back what I said about your singing. If what I've seen is your only competition, you'll get in without having to kill anyone.

  • This is really creative. I'm a little shocked you didn't get in. You'd think they'd at least want your house for planning schemes.

  • i think your character needs to be more evil...throwing a tea party and balls arent that evil unless people show up...unless they did who up and they stopped because evil things happened

  • Yeah. He's a bit crap really. Give him a while and he'll go insane like Jack in The Shining and he'll be throwing (literal) balls around and plotting destruction on a local scale.

  • He hunts people like foxes, enjoys torture, his dogs are depraved... etc. I think he's plenty evil, he's just also terribly lonely. (Possibly because he's so evil to everyone he sees as a lesser creature.) I think he's rather charming-- I don't remember the last Earl I saw used as a villain that wasn't a period piece.

  • Devilishly handsome indeed.

Say hello to Cletus for me.

  • two evil englishmen should never share the same DVD, that's the law of the evilness, though it's sad that it was you who didn't get on DVD(((

But there's a sequel in the works, i bet you'll be there

  • God yes, sometimes I forget there's going to be a sequel! Can't wait for more Dr. Horrible, another addictive collection of songs no doubt.

  • Robbed!

Lord Stabbington has met his equal.

  • Well... as much as we like Lord Stabbington, we did feel that his inclusion meant our exclusion. But you never know. Thanks :-)

  • That is a crime. They'd make a damn fine mini-evil-team.

  • I agree with the majority of folks - shouldah made it to the DVD/ELE. Congrats on the good work :).

  • Thanks a lot, it's been a fantastic journey nonetheless, and we still love Dr. Horrible. Rest assured, Earl Grey will return, we've just been busy filming our zombie web series. If you like Earl Grey you may love Zomblogalypse!

  • I need the MP3!

  • i love it!

  • I thank you. The Earl thanks you. I thank the Earl. The Earl flips me the bird. I cry.

  • I'd like to see the Earl's video response to not getting into the league...

  • Interesting you should say that... watch this space..

  • I still love this!

  • Thankyou, so do we!

  • Very funny. Should have been on the DVD but, no matter, great fun...glad I got to see it.

  • Why thankyou. A Dr. Horrible website has nominated us for an honourary award this week, which is rather fun. I'll let y'all know if we win.

  • Good job! =]

  • I can only guess too possibility's myself

    a) They never saw your submission due to some quirk.

    or

    b) Your submission is SO good and SO professional, that they feared people would think it was a set up they made themselfs.

  • Well... thanks very much, but I guess these things are subjective and they did go for Lord Stabbington who's quite similar, and maybe it just edged ours out. Or maybe they hated it, ha! What the hell, it's only a competition, I don't reckon it reflects on our entry in the slightest ;-)

  • Yeah, you should have been on the DVD, yours is the best I've seen.

  • *blushes*

  • This is my absolute favourite ELE application video, and I can't believe you didn't get on the DVD! You're tops in my books. Please make more videos with Earl Grey!

  • Thanks! I did reply but YouTube is being crap. It means a lot that people like Earl Grey so much - there will be more of him!

  • I'm sorry, but I seriously can't believe that you didn't make it.

If there was one that should have been put - it was yours...

The fact that it wasn't even high up on the list lessens my faith in Joss Whedon...

  • Well thanks man, that's nice of you to say but I still love the guy. These things are subjective aren't they. We may still get a 'Dishonorable Mention' ;-)

  • Earl Grey can teabag me any time he wants!

  • Wooh mama!

  • ... I would watch a show with Earl Grey on it.

Here's hopeing your on the DVD mate!

  • Thank you very much. We haven't heard anything, and the DVD's out at the end of the week, so either they've already contacted the winners... or they're keeping it secret.

Haven't read anything online anywhere so we've decided to assume we're not on the DVD... but there's still a slim chance I guess.

  • Masterpiece Theater meets the Bates Hotel?

    Masterfully done.

  • Ha, yes definitely Masterpiece Theater, but didn't think of Psycho til you mentioned it. But there is a touch of Norman Bates about Earl Grey. I wonder who he's got trussed up in his torture chamber?

  • one of the best applications out there

  • Thanks dude, the wait is nearly over I reckon, one way or the other!

  • welcome, its nice to see some folks who put thought into their videos, not just "hey i have a camera"

  • It's amazing what you can do with 40 minutes and a cool-looking room ;-)

  • i wish i had an awesome room, im just stuck with......time....

  • I never seem to have enough time, but what time I do have, I make movies with!

  • Thats my goal.....

  • This looks like alot of fone.

  • It certainly was fone. A whole lot of fone. I've never had so much fone in my life. We give good fone. And so forth.

  • top-notch! 5 stars

  • Even if we don't win, all these comments have made it worth doing, so thank you very much :-)

  • This has got to be one of the ones picked, its perfect in pretty much everyway.

    Very professional looking too.

I absolutely loved the line about pennyfathing races and waterboarding...what a lovely contrast in hobbys he has.

  • Thanks, yes I wonder if we're in the shortlist by now. Actually me, Tony and Hannah, who made this, came up with a hobby each. Mine was penny farthing races, Hannah's was Oriental cooking, Tony's was waterboarding. Ahhh, teamwork.

  • Truly awesome.

  • Thank you. You are all really too kind.

  • Love this vid! :) Def shud be in the DVD. So why the Maldives?

  • Well, Earl Grey trafficks drugs through the Maldives. It's rather notorious for that apparently.

Incidentally people, waterboarding is a torture technique, not like surfing as some people seem to think!

Hmm, maybe he's too subtle to get into the Evil League, as some people seem to think he's not quite evil enough! He did get his rottweilers to rip out the owner's throats, and supports the shooting of the lower classes. That's PRETTY evil isn't it?!

  • The subtle ones are the deadliest ones. :) I have friends in Maldives, hence I thought it was awesome u mentioned it.

  • Hehe, yes well no offence to your friends in the Maldives of course, it has any good qualities. That's maybe why the traffickers go out there... ;-)

  • That's MANY good qualities...

  • Hehe, none taken. Am sending vid to them, they will be quite pleased actually. :)

  • This'll be on the DVD.

  • Oh I hope so! Thanks ;-)

  • I thought to myself after seeing this..., I don't do enough fox hunting...

  • Ah, the Earl inducts another into the EVIL world of hunting foxes...

  • GOLD.

  • GOLD!

  • Oh my Lord, I think I'm in love...or well, I wanna sleep with him annyway xD

  • He'd be very demanding.

  • Very nice work indeed. Great location too.

  • Thanks! Yes the location was bagged by the DoP Tony. He has connections... but I don't think he killed anyone for it.

  • Good job evil sir.

  • Thankyou, fellow evilton!

  • very well done....congrats!

  • Very funny and well done! Had me laughing the whole time.

  • "Penny farthing races."

    You Brits.

  • Wouldn't "Your Grace" imply Duke Gray?

  • Yes I was waiting for someone to mention that. Earl Grey is not all there, really... forgive him and his inbred ways, if you can ;-)

  • There needs to be an MP3 of this.

  • And a video. And an Itunes download ;-)

  • Hahaha! Wow. Nice job. Your song is really great. Good luck.

  • Thanks muchly x

  • Easily one of the best applications. Great music, great production and great editing AND so very british. What more could you ask for? Hope you get around to restoring the House of Lords to it's former glory!

  • 1:29 is still the best bit and you know it.

  • Sweet mother of aristocracy, this is hilarious. Setting, gorgeous. Presence, completely over the top. Song-writing, the very best I've seen. (Apologies to Brain Freeze, as his is pretty excellent as well.)

The hilariously overblown punchline leaves no doubt in the minds of Arthur Dents everywhere that here, in fact, is the tea.

  • Ah, the ones with the most money are always the evil-est. I'd like to see him on Dragon's Den.

Great production, and a touch of the Elfman about it, musically.

    This is a strong contender...

  • Thanks everyone for your brilliant comments, this whole experience has been a blast. Now of course we have to play the waiting game! Good luck to all evil applicants... ;-)

  • Very Nice.

  • Awesome . . .everybody knows by droit de seigneur . .you should get first crack at entry(into the ELE that is.)

  • Let's hope so my friend ;-)

  • This is fantastic...pure evil genius. A job very well done.

  • Aw bless you x

  • sorry that should of course have read 'get' my vote...

  • Earl Grey would definitely give my vote were I a member of the ELE

  • Thanks! Let's hope Bad Horse and co. feel the same ;-)

  • My God. This is fantastic.

Pardon the opinion of this particular petty blogging neophyte...:)

  • I pardon you. This is an official pardon. And thank you!

  • fuck me this is good.

well, no. don't... but you know... i like it!

  • I would have tea with you, Earl Grey! (Provided it was not earl grey.) I've been rifling through the competition quite a bit, and this is thus far my fav. Where did you film?

  • Why thankyou kind person, for your impeccable taste. I have a range of teas in stock.

We filmed in the Guildhall in the fair city of York, England.

Are you applying to the ELE this year?

  • Indeed, I have applied to the ELE, tho' running a bit late, admittedly.

guildhall is pretty awesome, it appears. we don't get great set opportunities like that here in the states.

  • This is a serious threat to my chance at getting in. I'm gonna have to pray harder.

    / The Reverend.

  • This is the best looking application I've seen. Puts mine to shame I did. It looks great and you don't even have to press the high quality button!

  • Puts mine to shame "it does." What happened there?

  • Its really good, well done. I love the neophyte bit. You really should be an earl.

  • What do you mean SHOULD be? You can be my advisor...

  • Why thank thee.

  • Great begining ^^ Lacks a bit of evil, but nicely edited :D

  • Thanks! He did get his rottweilers to tear out the owner's throats, I mean is that not EVIL enough for you?!

    ;-)

Earl Grey is slightly rubbish though, but you wouldn't want to cross him, oooh no...

Future evil plans involve the forcible occupation of many other buildings and removal of the jugulars therein...

  • Brilliant stuff!

  • I *adore* you (and your accent). Are you single? ;)

  • I am the single most evil man in York ;-)

  • Oh, you *are* good! ;)

  • And also the most evil single man?

  • Potentially, yes ;-)

  • At last some high quality production work...

    Bravo !

    Wickedtooth

  • Thankyou very much wickedtooth, I credit my incredible Director of Photography Tony, his lovely camera and an inspired choice of venue!

  • Awe man.. This one is too good. How the heck do you upload at that high of quality? My videos always look really grainy compared to the original file that I uploaded.

  • This is an uncompressed avi file that I just exported from Premiere, so it's about 670M. YouTube can cope with up to 1G now which is ace.

  • Sweet!

  • hahaha *claps*

  • and award for best supporting goes to Tony for his cameo in...
