@Floatingone1 I have to agree with willchopan82. I think the new bass blends much more gracefully, 4th place International placement has got to tell ya something.! Great job girls!
@willchopan82 I think the former bass is much more powerful.....as these gals have matured, I'd love to hear what they'd sound like with Mary back singing bass...taking absolutely nothing away from their current bass....to place 4th @ International a few weeks ago proves how good they are currently!
@sheplayspiano I challenge her to hit the high G that appeared in a piece that we did a few years ago in our choir. I won't say "who" the poor (not 'poor' as in bad, just poor as in cursed) soprano was that had to hit it... but it was tough, to say the least!
You're correct that it would be there "traditional" vocal classification, but in Sweet Adelines, they continue in the men's barbershop tradition of calling their vocal parts by the same names : tenor, lead, baritone, bass. To line it up to traditional vocal parts sop 1 - tenor, sop 2- lead, alto 1- baritone, alto 2 - bass. Hope that clears up any confusion!
err....i don't think so there's a voice range of baritone in girl.... soprano mezzo-soprano alto... and treble.... as for guys... counter-tenor tenor baritone bass treble.. make it right
How did u place with this song? It was Great to hear the Baritone sing her solo! LOVED all of it! Are u all in college now? will u still perform together?
This was not a competition. They were guest performers. 1 girl is a senior in high school. The rest have started college. Yes they will continue singing together. They just won Harmony Sweepstakes San Francisco and 1st place region 12 Sweet Adeline's Contest. They will compete in Marin May 16th for Nationals (Harmony Sweepstakes) and in Nashville for Sweet Adeline's International in October. 2009 has been a great year!
These guys look so familiar! It this Underage, the quartet that won Young Women in Harmony? This quartet is sure going places...and are sounding awesome! Well done guys!
But my only question is... I am sure this contest is intended for "NON" Sweet Adelines....and I wrong? Just don't want scare off any "would be" competitors, if they are thinking they need to be this good! ...cause it's a pretty high bar to reach!
Yes this UnderAge quartet - if you do a search for Underage Quartet their Youtube entries come up - this one included. They are mostly uploaded by "atenshonisgood".
Simply outstanding! This level of a cappella (unaccompanied) close harmony performance not only requires great vocal talent but absolute discipline and painstaking preparation to make the four voices work as one. And these young ladies make it look effortless which is harder yet.
goosebumps at that high E. Holy shit, that was awesome

gohsj88,
This is a Barbershop group. So, the parts go (from left)
Tenor, Lead, Baritone, Bass.
Though, this isnt your typical barbershop arrangement!
