Hi. A few months ago I bought and replaced my iphone's digitazer. It worked ok, then the LCD went gray, I thought it was a matter of replacing it aswell sou I did that. Problem is the new one also appears gray all the time. What should I do now. Please help!

This is dumb. He did it backwards, you can just take the screen off and replace it rather than taking the whole phone apart to get to the screen.

ok this must be a different iphone 3g because it looks nothing like mine on the inside. I just need to replace the screen because i dropped my phone while at a bar. derrr. I've got most of it taken apart. The only thing is, I can't seem to get the screen apart from the frame where the home button is. I've looked for screws or a release of some sort and can't seem to find it. Does this thing come apart any further?, and if so, how? Hope someone can help.

@boomboom3000 theres adhesive sticking the two together, you gotta heat it up with a hairdryer

STOP this is how to wreck your iphone. All u need to do to replace the lcd is remove the 2 screws and carefully lift the glass from the home button end with a sucker (or a blob of epoxy if the screen is cracked). Disconnect 3 ribbon cables, remove 6 tiny screws from metal frame on screen, pull sides of outer main frame away from sides of inner lcd frame to SIMPLY release lcd...do not use a tool to try levering the lcd you will break it. Heat glass with hairdryer for +5mins. Easy!

ok, so i broke my lcd screen while replacing the glass and digitizer on my iphone 3g, i ordered a new one, but i dont think it comes with that metal backplate, do i have to order a seperate one, or is there a way to remove the old one from the orignal lcd?

there's just 2 side strips of adhesive holding the screen to the blackplate. Remove and reuse backplate...new screen should have the strips (they are only 1mm wide). Cable end of lcd is same end as backplate tabs...line up the projections on the lcd with the holes in the backplate.

follow the video to disassemble and then bath the board in 90 percent alcohol... That should get of any imperfections that could cause the board to not work.

Good luck!

Let it try for 12 hours before you attempt use after you bath the board in alcohol.
