Why not believe this music was made in 1971? It could've been 1972 at the latest. You can easily hear the echoes of Soft Machine, Van der Graaf Generator & Focus. All groovy Euro early fusion bands. I'm not wild about miming to a song on-stage, but in this case Klaus is able to film himself playing a variety of instruments simultaneously. Quite impossible in the live performance format.
What a classic setup... Lothar Meid: Amon Düül, Embryo, later he was producer of Westernhagen and Chairman of CBS Record company that was swallowed by Sony Music... Jimmy Jackson: Played with Embryo, Tangerine Dream, Westernhagen & the early Spider Murphy Gang
This is the only filmed document by the original Passport line up, even before the release of their first album ´Passport-Doldinger`.This video was produced for the legendary german Beat Club series (1970/71)
Doldinger was the Jazz Fusion Luke Skywalker to Miles Davis' Darth Vader...he had the Jedi Fusion force in him and became even stronger than the master.
1970-1979 were the best years for jazz...harnessing electric and acoustic, before "smooth" took over...sometimes I wish I was born 20 years earlier...

I really love Klaus' sound, and the embisher he uses, producing a warm but adventurous tone that is his signature. Good stuff!

yeaaaa..this is absolutely beautiful rock jazz fussion.. what a brass sound!!!

The Saxophone (although made out of brass) is actually not a brass instrument but a woodwind, relating to the reed that's made from wood.

Klaus erinnert hier an den Saxophinisten der muppets show, das ist sicher ein Zufall. Starke Musik. Mensch und du Udo
ganz ohne Hut.
