is it just me or does anyone else the person singing the first chorus and near the end of the song (don't know who it is) sound like Phil Harris? Also love this song. so nice and toe tapping :)
Heavens to Freddie Slack! This is sheer musical magic...Lady Ella & the awesome Ink Spots! Don't get much better than this! Strictly from wowsville, daddy-o! If Ella & the Spots were any cooler, they'd have been frozen! THANKS for posting this! You have MADE my day & my week! :-)
Such a cool track, and Ella at her best! Way more hip that the Ella Mae Morse version. Gotta love the Ink Spots, gotta adore Ella! So subtle, so Cooool!
Out on the plains down near Santa Fe I met a cowboy ridin the range one day And as he jogged along I heard him singin The most peculiar cowboy song It was a ditty, he learned in the city Comma ti yi yi yea Comma ti yippity yi yea Now get along, get hip little doggies Get along, better be on your way Get along, get hip little doggies He trucked em on down the old fairway Singin his cow cow boogie in the strangest way Comma ti yi yi yea Comma ti yippity yi yea etc.
lovely song:-)

I love this tune! My mom used to play a killer piano solo of this, but of course, this is how it was meant to sound. The Ink Spots and Ella, awesome!

I love this song and this version is def. my fave. Anyone know if they ever pressed this on a particular Ella or Ink Spots greatest hits on LP?

1944 One of the Ink Spots plays trumpet. Ella Fitzgerald.
"The song was featured in the 1942, Abbott & Costello film, Ride 'Em Cowboy". Ella was in the movie.
In 1944, this was a number one hit on the Harlem Hit Parade and a number ten hit on the pop charts.
