I remember listening this for the very first time about 10 years, when I was very young, only the begginging of the track... and ever since I hadn`t ever the chance to hear anything close to it. I discovered DCD an year ago (shame on me) and recognised the melody immediately. A piece of music, heard a decade back and never again, being enchanted by it after rediscovery... DCD certainly know how to breathe life into the music and make even the dead dance!

Saltarello is more ancient then the medieval Napolitan court.

Its roots are in the ancient dance named "Saltatio" (Jump). Saltarello mens do little jumps.

Its more popular in centre Italy, around Rome, then in Naples.

I absolutely love Dead Can Dance. This is a wonderful track and echos something from the 13th or 14th century. It's very merry which is a rariety since most of the bands music is very bleak in tone.
