  • Ensiferum:From Afar and Turisas:Stand up and Fight

  • Danish prime metal

  • aw, fuck yeah

  • Great music! This has been a great year for viking metal.

  • @MountHyjal It has? What are some recent good viking metal albums?

  • @lakishajenkins

Wolfchant: Call of the black winds,

    Amon Amarth: Surtur Rising,

    Tyr: The Lay of Thrym,

Rebellion: Arise: The history of the Vikings Volume 3 (Not 100% sure if thats this year)

    Varg: Wolfskult

I am kicking myself because I know theres more, but I hope that helps.

  • @MountHyjal That was my bad: The Rebellion Album was 2009

  • This band gets better and better.

  • If I could growl like Thor can, I would just growl all the fucking time!!

  • Det er underligt som folkemetal/ Vikingemetal vækker noget i mig... Man bliver helt stolt over at være dansker!

    - SVARTSOT KEEP IT GOING!

  • I love this song =3

  • is that a celtic harp?

  • @TheHuntress144 Do you mean the mandolin? :)

  • @SvartsotDK ah, is that what that is? it's hard to pick out the individual instruments sometimes, my headphones are pretty crappy. lol, i do know the difference in timbre between a harp and a mandolin, i swear!

  • @TheHuntress144 no i think its a mandolin ...

  • @dropkickmolly666 - It is a mandolin yeah, saw them live. No flute in this one ;)

  • GREAT!!!

  • Thor nailer det fandeme godt!

  • Folk Metal FTW!!!

  • And again svartsot did an awesome job .. all 3 albums are great! hail

  • Episk!

  • folk 'n' troll!!!

  • Awesome album. I haven't heard all the songs yet but it's still awesome so far :)

  • Where can I find the lyrics to this song?

  • @abominative In the album cover ;-)

  • This is the best album of svartsot.

    A big hail from sweden

  • FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Just wanna thank everybody for the cool comments so far :) !

But we should also point out to some of you that we have NEVER claimed to be Viking metal! It is something others have labelled us with. Hence an album that has absolutely NOTHING to do with Vikings ;)

  • @SvartsotDK

Thx a lot for making a statement! Sorry, I didn´t want to categorize you! But as I´m a BIG FAN of SVARTSOT, I would like to know, if "Maledictus Eris" is a

permanent renunciation of the lyrical themes, you had on "Ravnenes Saga" and "Mulmets Viser" or is it possible, that you will make someday again songs, which are inspired by norse mythology?

  • @Radbod1 Well, seeing as 1 track ONLY on "Mulmets..." (Visen om Tærskeren on the ltd edition) was inspired by Nordic mythology, it's not much of a renunciation. So you could say we'd already turned our back on that after "Ravnenes...".

As for what will happen lyrically in the future, I really can't say 100%. But don't expect the next album to be full of tales of one-eyed gods or flying battle wenches. The themes are covered thoroughly by other bands and there's more to folk metal than that ;)

  • @SvartsotDK In my opinion Mulmets Viser was more about the history of Denmark. I do like the change though, also riffs in this album sound way more medieval, also the use of the mandolins fits perfectly in this time. Other than that i think it's pretty cool that you guys have a clean vocal on it, after some asking i suppose it is Uffe that did the clean vocals? Will there bere any official announcements regarding if you keep him in the band soon? Just asking :-)

    Cheers

    Chris

  • @demonicblessings "Mulmets..." was certainly more history-based than "Ravnenes...", but "maledictus..." is even more so :). And yes, Uffe did sing on "Spigrene", so maybe we'll be bringing that into the set at some time. If both Uffe and the band decides that he will join permanently...

  • @SvartsotDK Yeah of course Maledictus Eris is historical! :)

But i'm also quite sure it's gonna be one of the best albums! For me what surprise me the most about you guys, is how you can create a album full of tracks - and i like them all. Usually when i buy a cd from a band i like 3-4 tracks and thats it. But in this case - NO! Also i must say that this album's sound seem to fit Thor's voice even better than on Mulmets viser.

  • @SvartsotDK Sing about whatever you like, it will be awesome regardless!

  • Sounds great, but NO VIKING METAL ANYMORE??? That´s sad.. Is the theme-change good/bad-what do you think??

  • so damn good. cant wait for this album to release.

  • Whoa, insane album cover! Not sure about the band's logo, though.

  • hey ho o ey yo !!!! <3 love it

  • The first time I have listened to Svartsot, I thougt I were a fucking Viking!!!

  • @tjdrobzombie In the matter of fact this is their only "none-viking" album. They changed to a way more dark and brutal subject (The Black Death) which was introduced to Denmark in 1350-1352 (not exact but about it ;)). Still they got their sound way more medieval (by the use of more mandolin, than the other albums which had a lot flute) and ALSO Thor's voice fits perfectly in to this darker time they've brought us in to!

  • i love folk metal <3

  • why do people repost songs on youtu

  • @NORDAViNDSTORM Why not ;)?

  • @NORDAViNDSTORM

in order for the music to grow and for more people to find it

  • Growling is funny, cant get anything out of it :D "FAAFAFUUFYFYFYFFDADAFFUUFYYYFTFTAFAFA"

  • @JoGeri666 i guess thats true ;D

  • @JoGeri666 Well, they sing in Danish, so i don't think you would understand it if he wasnt growling either :p

  • HEY HO YAY O EY HO!!~
