  • such a tune from the true old days!

  • FUCK i miss the 80s soul ,todays RnB is SHIT USHER NEYO AND THE REST OF THEM SHIT POP ARTISTS

  • This is still a killer track. No song comes close. They do not make music like they used too. I was 18 when I was dancing to this and does not sound any different so much later.I wouldn't mind playing it over and over again. I love big time.

  • By the way we are all getting old!!! This song is not even to be found on grooveshark or pirate bay. DAMN!!!!!

  • @ericblankenstein it's a bit old fashioned but you could pay for it dude!?

  • This song brings me back in to my bedroom with large speakers and and flashing lights and both turntables going mixing up loosend and dreamer. Classic!!

  • Bought this 12", and their album in "85" when I was 20. 26 years later, it still sounds great! 43 is more like it you know who, be proud of your age!!! LOL

  • Great record... Still play it regularly...

  • I love this song, for those that like Old School jams, I believe it would still be a hit in the clubs today.

  • Saw these at the Station in Welling high street on a cristmas do, sad thing i think i was the only one in the place to have heard of them

  • Wow, this really takes me back to a hot summer in Gran Canaria... Fantastic song!

  • I love this song. The first time I heard it was in a club in Germany. I love his voice.Truly another underrated vocalist. What happened to music that made you stop and reflect?

  • SE9 joining in the love in

  • 4 dumb asses gave this a thumbs down because they came here for perry cuomo!

superb 12" , souvereign drummmaschine programming

  • Memories memories!!! The 80's was great! Great bands back then... This song reminds my of Zulu Nations jams in the South Bronx, the cool things is that some spots still rock this classic and in well they should! Peace & Love too all that appreciate great music, so sad artist these days can't overcome the foul language in their music... Anyway, again great song... I'm gonna rock this when i get home 2nite. :-)

  • been looking for this song for like...ever here in Baltimore! They still play this in the local spots around town! When this was out, I was sneaking in the clubs under age. Now I'm pushing 50 LOL!

  • love these old tune's spent all my penny's at spinning in manchester on the good old tune's ..........

  • You tube: why do you block this tuneonly for it to be up loaded again? idiots.

This band was almost named after a DIY store. I love the 80's.

  • Wonderful OMG!!! am dancing all over the place. HAPPY DAYS BIG TIME. AND I'v STILL GOT MY MOVER!!!! Smile

  • Outstanding jam! This brings back so many memories for me. I was 19 yrs old and in the military stationed in Virginia in 1986 when this jam dropped. I was hooked from the first time I heard it on the radio. I am still amazed by Curtis Hariston's beautiful vocal delivery! That brother could bring it. Like so many others, he was so underrated. Just think, today Tre Songs is a star and actually considered a GOOD SINGER! WOW! Sometimes I think I am living in an alternate universe.

  • Lyrically, this song is almost similar to the Neo Soul classic, "Closer" by Goapele. Great music!!!

  • Was this curtis harrison lead vocals ?

  • curtis was one of the best

his style will never be duplicated

in catagory with eddie kendricks ,smoothed out like new pants

stickypop1000 aka stereo /bed -stuy brooklyn

  • Great Music, good memories. I was 22 at that time and I saw them in Boston at the Channel. I would like to change time for a wknd. Back to the good old music.

  • One of the best songs ever made as far as I'm concerned! If you like music like this and the good stuff like Finis Henderson - Skip To My Lou, Loose Ends - Gonna Make You Mine, Maze & Frankie Beverly - Before I Let Go, etc and you live in London check out Cherry Jam the last Thursday of every month. I'm not the promoter just a regular who loves the music!

  • @Rikin1978 true- this is my all time fav song! just love this track!!

  • one of my favorite all time songs!!!! Bentley in NYC!!!

  • Amazing - brings back sooo many wonderful memories

  • Curtis Hairston Was A Very Good Homie Of Mine. We Use To Sing Together In and Out Of The Studio Here In NY... My Man Fo' Ever!!! (RIP)

  • They dont make em like this anymore...i dont know what the hell they think it is they do these days...but this was when music truly was music...love the 80s

  • This was my favorite BBQ song. "On The Shelf" and "On The Beat" were great also around NYC but THIS was my personal favorite. Just good music and they were an actual band not just a studio session group or something record executives put together. Curtis Hairston would be a featured singer today had he still been around.

  • TR 808 ... awesome!

  • Daft Punk Short Circuit?

  • what kind of drum machine did they use?

  • I'm pretty certain it was a Roland TR-808, it sounds very much like one at least. The same drum machine was used in countless other mid-80s tracks, Hangin' On A String by Loose Ends springs to mind plus Genie also by BB & Q Band and Tell Me (How it Feels) by 52nd Street

  • @helen4963 Ya, 808 was the sound then, popularized by Jam and Lewis on many tracks and used here.

  • probs roland tr 808

  • @audiosiempre roland tr808 anlog computer drum machine

  • i've been meaning to get a turn table set to start mixing tracks

  • Thats what i call a tune thats class !

  • Dank je, Zaandamdog..................ik dacht misschien dat dit niet meer te vinden was...........een van de beste nummers ooit! De hedendaagse artiesten kunnen er niet aan tippen!!!!!!!!!

  • Sheer perfection, this song. The whole build up, the synths, the beats... and then the bass and the voice kick in. Powerful.

  • AWESOME! NYC, I MISS THESE DAYZ!

  • shame about the last comment by[defx1229]'what bloody difference does it make about the fella's sexuality'im sure if u went through your favourite records you'd soon be surprised by the amount of gay 'soul'house'disco'funk' artists outthere'grow up dude'if u used that type of lanuage in public or publication in the uk you'd be arrested'.[peace]from a straight music lover'.

  • If we judged what we listen too by the artist personal lives we prolly would not listen to anything!! LOL

  • I've been looking for this jam every since I discovered Napster. :) Thanks so much!

  • Curtis Hairston has my fav male vocal.I met himin 85 when he was on a promotional visit for i want your lovin big hit in the uk pop chart No 15. He was a real gentleman with a southern accent. He was obviously Gay but taht makes no difference whatsoever if your secure about your own sexuality. RIP Curtis.

  • Peace to yall

I hear you Deni247. This song reminds me of 1985/86 house parties in SE London. They were kickin'. This track stands out as a classic. A pity that the late Curtis Hairston never got the credit his voice deserved.

    With peace

  • you are right teshan29

    RIP Curtis Hairston

  • such an uplifting tune, BB&Q were amazing. With regards to their last tune I thought it was "Ricochet" 1987, but wiki says diferrent recons its "On The Beat (88 Bronx Mix)" 1988!

  • thank you ZAANDAMDOG for posting this ive been looking for this song for the longest i didnt know the artist who made this. thanks again........

  • Nice track, and nice console shot Zaandamdog. :)

  • Excellent track.

  • I just heard the US mix of the 12" version it does not compare to the one released in Europe. BTW this did make the US R&B charts, Jet Magazine's Top 20 Singles chart, if that counts. Now I was not in the US when this was out, I was in the UK. Did they seriously play the original US 12" version on the radio or the remixed version?

  • I didn't hear this on the radio in NYC. It was a huge hit in the clubs back in the 80's though. They would play this after three slow jams to get people back on the dance floor...it worked every time. :)

  • wicked tune love it

  • wow .. when u listen to choons like this u no its the *) R&B styles u dont here em like u used to .. luv all wot they produced and for my personal fave hmm .. well to get n dance da boogie its gosta be ... richochet only just followed by this one... CLASSICC!!!

  • i dont think this is there best track. they have three songs that i like "main attraction"

"dreamer" and "genie" is my favorite. lol my little nephew is two years old and he will bug you to death to listen to "genie",he calls it "your wish" lol

  • For me this IS BB&Q best ever track. It brings back many happy memories, i hadn't heard it in years and when i did i felt quite emotional about the good times, dancing and laughing with friends. God bless good music.

  • I like this song in the beginning, the beat has a breakdance feel to it. Can definitely tell it has New York influence.

  • wow great song from the past......

  • I hear all your comments this is just a classic tune love it to death, but man i'm with ghettofunk71 GENIE for me is possibly BB&Q finest it's a close call, both make me wanna burn leather on the dance floor

  • got genie on 12inch vinyl now that is a classic

  • Nice quality on this one....Word up !!!

  • Aaah, this takes me back boy, DAMN! Reminds of when I was just an elementary school rugrat. Good times!
