This is still a killer track. No song comes close. They do not make music like they used too. I was 18 when I was dancing to this and does not sound any different so much later.I wouldn't mind playing it over and over again. I love big time.
This song brings me back in to my bedroom with large speakers and and flashing lights and both turntables going mixing up loosend and dreamer. Classic!!
Bought this 12", and their album in "85" when I was 20. 26 years later, it still sounds great! 43 is more like it you know who, be proud of your age!!! LOL
Dem days we used 2 gatecrush fine parties in Byo[ZIM]when Hammer used 2 play dis tune man its still good. All the party brothers who r gone R.I.P to Hammer,King,Emmerson Jecka,Charlton Jecka,Jnr Doc Moyo And Dixie Mabhena.
Massive tune....dents in the dance floor (or living room) dancing to this. BB&Q are a massive part of my youth. RIP Curtis....you rocked the shizz out of the place.
I love this song. The first time I heard it was in a club in Germany. I love his voice.Truly another underrated vocalist. What happened to music that made you stop and reflect?
Memories memories!!! The 80's was great! Great bands back then... This song reminds my of Zulu Nations jams in the South Bronx, the cool things is that some spots still rock this classic and in well they should! Peace & Love too all that appreciate great music, so sad artist these days can't overcome the foul language in their music... Anyway, again great song... I'm gonna rock this when i get home 2nite. :-)
been looking for this song for like...ever here in Baltimore! They still play this in the local spots around town! When this was out, I was sneaking in the clubs under age. Now I'm pushing 50 LOL!
Outstanding jam! This brings back so many memories for me. I was 19 yrs old and in the military stationed in Virginia in 1986 when this jam dropped. I was hooked from the first time I heard it on the radio. I am still amazed by Curtis Hariston's beautiful vocal delivery! That brother could bring it. Like so many others, he was so underrated. Just think, today Tre Songs is a star and actually considered a GOOD SINGER! WOW! Sometimes I think I am living in an alternate universe.
Great Music, good memories. I was 22 at that time and I saw them in Boston at the Channel. I would like to change time for a wknd. Back to the good old music.
One of the best songs ever made as far as I'm concerned! If you like music like this and the good stuff like Finis Henderson - Skip To My Lou, Loose Ends - Gonna Make You Mine, Maze & Frankie Beverly - Before I Let Go, etc and you live in London check out Cherry Jam the last Thursday of every month. I'm not the promoter just a regular who loves the music!
They dont make em like this anymore...i dont know what the hell they think it is they do these days...but this was when music truly was music...love the 80s
This was my favorite BBQ song. "On The Shelf" and "On The Beat" were great also around NYC but THIS was my personal favorite. Just good music and they were an actual band not just a studio session group or something record executives put together. Curtis Hairston would be a featured singer today had he still been around.
I'm pretty certain it was a Roland TR-808, it sounds very much like one at least. The same drum machine was used in countless other mid-80s tracks, Hangin' On A String by Loose Ends springs to mind plus Genie also by BB & Q Band and Tell Me (How it Feels) by 52nd Street

shame about the last comment by[defx1229]'what bloody difference does it make about the fella's sexuality'im sure if u went through your favourite records you'd soon be surprised by the amount of gay 'soul'house'disco'funk' artists outthere'grow up dude'if u used that type of lanuage in public or publication in the uk you'd be arrested'.[peace]from a straight music lover'.
Curtis Hairston has my fav male vocal.I met himin 85 when he was on a promotional visit for i want your lovin big hit in the uk pop chart No 15. He was a real gentleman with a southern accent. He was obviously Gay but taht makes no difference whatsoever if your secure about your own sexuality. RIP Curtis.
I hear you Deni247. This song reminds me of 1985/86 house parties in SE London. They were kickin'. This track stands out as a classic. A pity that the late Curtis Hairston never got the credit his voice deserved.

"dreamer" and "genie" is my favorite. lol my little nephew is two years old and he will bug you to death to listen to "genie",he calls it "your wish" lol
For me this IS BB&Q best ever track. It brings back many happy memories, i hadn't heard it in years and when i did i felt quite emotional about the good times, dancing and laughing with friends. God bless good music.
I hear all your comments this is just a classic tune love it to death, but man i'm with ghettofunk71 GENIE for me is possibly BB&Q finest it's a close call, both make me wanna burn leather on the dance floor
