i support franken all the way but they need to stop the comericals about what the other guy did and start with what he is gonna do...they talk about the past not the future
I'm not so sure about that - I think it's very important to point out what you're not, especially when you're competing against such a paid for character like Coleman.
I believe using disagreement on actual policy and anti-trust behavior as argument is a healthy negative tactic, as opposed to personality negatives, which Franken is being attacked with.
I saw Al speak and i shook his hand at the MN state fair. The DFL was packed with people, as well as Al's booth, while norm colemans had no one lol. it is clear to me that MN wants Franken, and I am proud to support him.
Hey Chris- Don't you realize Norm Coleman is from New York? Al went to school in St Lewis Park until he went to college. Yes, he lived in New York, but not too many people can make a living as a comedian living in Minnesota. My husband is Navy- we have lived all over the country- does that mean he doesn't have the right to move back to his hometown and consider it home?
There are a number of us - Minnesotans born and raised - who have left our beloved homestate to go to university, and then, pursuing professional careers, have had to live out of state. But we always consider it home, regularly come back to vacation and visit friends and family, and often look for the right opportunity to move back home.
This is what Mr. Franken did, and I think we can understand that; it would have been hard - even in the Cities - to become a professional commedian of national stature. I think we should be happy for this "local boy" that "made good", not forget that he's one of our own, and be grateful that he hasn't forgotten that either.
Al would be a blast if he could win, but he's kind of a weird choice for the democrats and Minnesotans resent the fact that he's been away so long. he's a new yorker now, not a minnesotan.
Comment pending approval? A LIBERAL who promotes censorship? That's weird. Oh yeah, they're for diversity. If by that I mean all kinds of different people MUST say the same thing. Big Brother AL is watching you and deciding which comments can be posted. Sounds like just the guy you want to represent you in Washington.
Your comment has been up on Al Franken's video for 2 months now. Can you admit that you were wrong when you assumed that your comment would be censored? Al Franken IS the guy I want to represent my interests! Coleman has been Bush's mouthpiece and lap dog for too long time. Coleman has also taken millions from big oil and rewarded them with billions in tax breaks. Franken is funny, smart, sincere and he can admit when he's made a mistake; which is more than I can say for Bush or his lap dog.
"That's no joke. I'm serious about fighting for you."
Now there's a campaign slogan that gives me chills. Whether or not he wins, I believe that for many years to come, there will be colleges filled with students studying how Franken's approach to campaigning measures up to all the rest. He's campaigning the way it should be done. No mudslinging. No underhanded tactics. His competition challenges his youth, and he counters with Coleman's Senate record. That's staying on target. That's class.
By attack do you mean point out Coleman's record? That's NOT what an attack ad is these days. A contemporary attack ad is made up of baseless questions about character. It's like arguing about whether green is a good color or not. Like Al said, he wants a debate about issues. But all Coleman does is try to say things like, "You wouldn't like the kind of guy Al Franken is. He told off-color jokes". That has NOTHING to do with Minnesota's representation in the US Senate.
Norm Coleman 2008! (Comment pending approval...the Orwellian smoke screen of the Obama/Franken camps, a perfect metaphor for their opaque campaigns!).
I have a feeling that the reason they require comments to be approved is to prevent overly vulgar or offensive comments from being posted. I've found a number of anti-Franken comments to this video. The majority are pro-Franken, which is to be expected, as Franken supporters are more likely to be searching the internet for Franken ads than Coleman supporters.
there are two kinds of republicans... evil and stupid. They can only be differentiated by their level of income. And those with the income don't waste their time posting here. So for the others that wanna post.... do so at your own confession... that would be "stupid" since you are not the sharpest tools in the shed :)
Well, we know Norm sucks and just what a great suck-sess Ventura had. It's not like Minnesota can do much worse. A vote for Franken is a vote against the idiots :)
Norm Coleman makes stupid TV ads that don't make any sense. ex: "And we're better bowlers"............WTF?!? I really hope Al Franken wins the election and finally shuts up Norm Coleman. Go Al!
AL, you have to win, we need you to help clean up this mess that Norm Coleman helped to creat-trashing our government, abusing the privileges of the senate to appease the greedy oil corporations. So much work to do. Al is brilliant and will be able to begin the process to returning our country to the the people.
Great ad, this is the kind of stuff you need to respond with: "I believe Minnesotans know the difference between comedy and politics, and they can see through the same old tired 'gotcha' politics that seeks to distract them from the real issues that affect them every day. Norm Coleman supports the same policies that have been hurting America for the last 8 years, and now he doesn't want the voters to focus on what is best for America, and Minnesota."
I'd be more likely to blame the two oilmen who have resided in the White House for almost eight years rather than the Democrats who have been in control of Congress for less than two. Those two oilmen, George Bush and Dick Cheney, have sown the seeds of high oil prices their entire time in office.
Need I mention that many Republicans, including John McCain, have accepted major contributions from Big Oil? That means that instead of representing you and I, they're going to represent Exxon-Mobil.
We all know commedy is a completely different world than politcs in the sense of what you can and can't say, for Norm Coleman dig up Al Franken's jokes is desperate and sad even for a neocon running in this election cycle.
Hi, I'm Al Franken and I sound like the Joker. Why so serious, Minnesota?
