  • ITS REAL! GOD bless you all...

  • Even as children of God, created in His image, we fall into sin. We have free will! Who can know the mind of the God who created the Universe & everything in it? I think we naturally turn away because of the desires of our flesh. No matter how far away we wander, r Faithful Savior always takes us back! This song speaks of a jealous God. He loves us in a way we can't fathom. I believe He wants our loyalty to Him alone (mind, body and soul). Because He is all we need in this life!

  • it took me forever to realize this is a song about fiedelity to God and the Walk! the lovers and alters are all the things we love and chase above God! help us,oh God,to always chase You and only You! And also help us to set You in Your rightful place: RULER of our lives!!!!

  • Wow - so glad Jesus has given me a new life and no one can take me from Him - living here and for eternity with Jesus - wow - Praise you God for your provision.

  • @looneybineastman Amen and well said

  • I have turned away from God so many times , and well , everytime i do , it's horrible , i was almost in the state of killing myself , but i turned to him again .. he has saved me . I adore him , and love him . He knows i am stubborn , and needs a slap in the back of the head sometimes when i am not listening to him .. i want to . i just ... i don't listen to much people , and well , it's kinda hard , but i know i will <3 :)

  • This is a nice song although the piano playing weirds me out. I never thought about the turning over the tables like that... very interesting and gifted band.

  • Jesus said to Jerusalem, paraphrased, oh Jerusalem Jerusalem,I would have kept you like a hen keeps her chicks under her wings but you would not have it,and because of this Jerusalem was lost !

  • I understand the first part. But what does "Lovers in lines

While you're turning over tables with the rage of a jealous kind" mean

  • @dalene14 I imagine it has something to do with Jesus flipping over tables in the temple because people had turned worship into a business (placing money before God)

  • @caliente5542 haha that's sort of confusing:P But i think i understand! thanks:)

  • @dalene14 It means we turn ourselves over to anything and anyone (as in new things/people to love/worship all the time, hence a long line of them), while Christ, in His jealousy for our love, turned over tables in the temple because the people were selling and placing things above their love for Him.

  • @project826 Ohhh! Haha now i fully understand! Thanks :) haha how do you know all that? thats amazing,

  • @dalene14 I dunno, I'm just a long-time Jars fan. :) The song is referencing Matthew 21:12. And you're welcome! I'm glad you love the song as much as I do!

  • this is one of those songs that can be interprited as christian 9ubfaithful to god,) r just as a normal love gone wrong song. either way it's just as beautiful.

  • Are the most threat for the kingdom of God, that you will make the enemy Rage and attack. Renew your minds brethren, take the truth and armor of God. Blessings on your heads!

    JCP ~

  • I'm 46 now and asked Jesus in my heart at 17. I remember the day clearly, I remember the the temptations and justifications clearly. Got saved Nov 21st 1981 on the side of my house in my friends car praying the sinners prayer... Right before New years eve partying with guilt and the enemy whispering it's ok, it's no big deal..

I've been labeled a Freak, to Jesus Freak, to Back slider to all sorts of names.

I'm either Hot or Cold I'll tell you that. And right now I'm struggling. It's when yo

  • 2:43 onward. Wowwww! <3

  • Wow. Love on first listening. <3

  • Beautiful song! :) Awesome band. Keep singing Loves story. <3

  • love love LOVE this song!!!!!!

  • I'm also agnostic, and I absolutely love this song. I remember what it was like to be a Christian, and I would've loved it even more back then.

  • There music relates to how normal Christians feel on a daily basis. Whether we're close to God, running away or just confused about life they have a song that describes it.

THIS is what brings me back.

  • im a grown 40yr old man but cry like a baby every time i listen 2 this song. from the 1st few keys of the piano 2 the end when the song def takes us 2 church!! god that cry felt good. i am so ashamed though because the wet of my tears r full of pure guilt. i love u lord and am truly sorry. gallows 2 the aisles- wow. jars of clay r our gift from him.

  • I'm going through this right now trying to choose the aisle instead of the gallows. I know in my head that God is everything and that chasing the world is empty but I keep slipping. Lord help me

  • I love this song

  • why does this song always have to make me cry

  • kool love it

  • This song has always meant a lot to me, regardless of whatever my beliefs have been at the time of listening. Jars of Clay have a lot of talent for making emotional music. Oh, and Samunruh? Thank you for being so respectful in your comments as well as making this lovely video. :)

  • I love this song. The words are so powerful. " I chose the gallows to the aisle" Wow thats so true.. Everyday we choose the gallows over the aisle. I'm so sorry Jesus... I know you want me to be faithful.. It breaks my heart to see how badly I've treated You when you gave You're life for me..

  • Love these guys and great song!

  • you can understand is ways if you listen and accept His ways as your protection

and His council asd His guidance to you

to accept the outcome of His protection

as a failure from our side, His need to protect us out of love and our vulnarability

    our frailty and our weakheartedness.

When we accept that and believe Him we will see why it is exactly like He said.

We can be exactly who we are like we are, and if we make mistakes, say thanks Lord for making it up with me, forgiving me leading me

  • God is more real, more tangible than this chair I sit upon or this keyboard on which I type. To have "faith" in something or someone who you do not know is real and can never prove, is foolishness. But I have faith in God! I know He is real. I can feel Him, I can see Him and I can talk with Him. This chair and keyboard will pass away, as will all things on Earth. But God is real! God is eternal! Anyone who does not know this, just has yet to meet Him. Praise God for His love, it is for all of us

  • Such moving lyrics! Love this song!

  • I choke up when I hear these words...so many years of running after the wind...and Jesus was always standing there with open arms to welcome me back

  • @Hap63py I can relate....so much wasted time, chasing what never satisfied, and yet Jesus was always there drawing me back to Himself. I want to live the rest of my life in His arms...Return to your rest, o my soul, for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you. (Psalm 116:7) He is our resting place....

  • @Hap63py "tear" i grew up in a christian family, never knew much pain but of death of loved ones but when i saw ur post i started bawling

  • gosh how I love Jars of Clay...thanks for posting the song....my father broke my cd so I have to depend on Youtube for music

  • I love the imagery and the lyrics - great job with a great song :)

  • when I wanted to end my life (heroin and meth) I put this cd on and I knew Jesus loved me so much, (and still does)!!

  • I love this font. But Christ is above all!

  • I absolutely love this song but i think this video has grossly misinterpreted the meaning of these lyrics. Lovers being any thing in this world that keeps us from walking in the sovereign will of God. Once we have offered ourselves as living sacrifices (Romans 12) , God is jealous of the love and worship of us, His Bride, the Church, that is only reasonable when we take to heart what God in his grace and mercy has bestowed upon our lives. we find joy in the fact that he chose us and we are his.

  • Amazing lyrics

  • Christ is everything!!!

    VICTORY IN CHRIST

For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.

For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world — our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? (1 john 5 : 3-5)

  • So glad that God shows his love jealous over me :)

  • nice,!! can you please watch my profile, or video and ummm tell me what I am doing right and wrong

thanks its at " boxing heavybag workout in vancouver" cheers!

  • What a powerful song. The simple piano as the melody (for the most part anyway) adds a great touch. Every time I listen to it I am amazed once again at the depth of God's mercy!

  • ROCKING OUT THE VALLEY!!!

    Love IT!!!

  • this song is so unbelievably good - i've listened to it 10x back to back and I can't stop. Amazing

  • Great song and really nice video :)

  • Thanks!!! That's a really clear message! Peace :]

  • Could u explain the meaniang to this song? I'm a good Christian and I'm curious what it exactly means :)

  • It's about people seeking peace/ love/ acceptance/ fulfillment/ and/or meaning in life in something other than Christ's love. (refering to the Bible - God is a jealous God) and wants our entire heart and soul. we need to have faith in Him and only Him, even if we don't understand His ways. It's kind of like an apology song, if you think of Christ as the Groom, the church is the Bride - i've been unfaithful to you, i gave my love to other things, and i'm sorry; please take me back (and He will

  • it also references when Jesus turned over tables in "His father's house" that had been turned into "a den of thieves"

  • @octobop Great way of explaining this song. It always brings a tear to my eye when I hear it. God is always faithful to us even when we are so, horribly unfaithful to him.

  • It refers to the joy of God in the "Doctrine of Election." It is through the goodness and mercy of God to bring us to him and keep us. He is the good shephard.

  • I would love to see your philosophyforums. How can I get to them?

  • @samunruh Beautifully put together video. And well written counter-points on your page here, sir. Good stuff and keep up the awesome. Blessed be

  • @samunruh

thanks for posting this video, I just relapsed once again into addiction and though I am sober now I feel rocked by my foolishness. The "hanging ropes" lyrics are to me very personal in its almost like God saying "Darren you can even hang a rope to take yourself out but I will find you and cut that rope" I am a fool but I have Jesus loving me....... its enough.

    bless you

    DArren

  • I grew up listening to Jars of Clay and although I'm no longer Christian (agnostic) I still enjoy listening to their music.

  • what made you decide to be agnostic?

  • I'd have to write a 10 page essay to summarize my reasons but for the sake of youtube comments, I have always been agnostic, I just didn't realize it until after I studied philosophy. Christianity, when it's all said and done, comes down to faith. The very nature of faith is to choose to believe in something that you cannot know (otherwise it'd be knowledge and not faith).

  • i know very little about agnosticism. i've heard it is the believe that "you can only Know what you can Perceive."

if you haven't perceived God then i'd say i respect you for not hopping on his bandwagon. this world might be better off if we all took some time to "get to know" what we claim to believe.

are you a strict agnostic, or do you think there is a Chance that a person might be able to perceive / know God?

  • I'm not a strong agnostic as I feel that the very nature of being agnostic is to be open to any and all possibilities, including the possibility that others might perceive or experience things outside of my own limited understanding.

That being said, I've often wondered why God would instill such perception or experiences to some while others are left to wonder. Again, Youtube limits my ability to formulate a deep discussion. I have posts on philosophyforums. calm if you're interested.

  • @samunruh - Agnosticism is a faith, A false faith.

  • @P00P00Head

good words man! When I was a meth junkie I used to listen to this song, lost, alone, and broken. I think that when I am at my lowest and most broken the veil is pulled away and I can see there is a guy named Jesus who loves and died for me, when I was at my worst. My buddies are taking me out for sushi tommorow to celebrate 9 months off the dope XD hope you find the greatest thing I have ever known (Jesus)

  • @planes3333 AWESOME!!!!

  • @planes3333

yeah Jesus is for putting up with a gong show like me XD

  • @planes3333 stay blessed brother, nothing is impossible with God

  • @ceejay8432

    amen thanks XD

  • @planes3333 I pray that you continue in the strength of the Lord, nothing is impossible with Him; stay blessed

  • @P00P00Head i don't know if this means anything or if this will offend you (i don't care ether way), but imma pray for you.

  • @P00P00Head My sister was totally into Jesus until she studied philosophy and read a book that was required reading material.. It completely turned her into something that - to this day - is one of the meanest people I have ever met. The book is "The Thousand Faces of God". She is completely overtaken - to the point that she seems possessed and bitter and hateful towards anyone of the Christian faith. Please do not give yourself over to your agnosticismStay open to seeing God's hand in your life

  • @P00P00Head The thing is, agnostics are correct in that if there's a God he's so high above us we cannot perceive him anymore than an amoeba would perceive us. What most agnostics fail to realize is that the Bible and Christians agree with that, which is why God has condescended to reveal himself to us in a way we can understand, through Word and through incarnation as Christ. We must accept his revelation. It's his revelation to us, not our ability to perceive him. I hope you come full circle.

  • @P00P00Head Hey, as a fellow human being, I'd like to ask you if you believe in love. If you truly do believe in love, where else can you find it than in God? I'm, of course, speaking of love as an objective principle that can be manifested intellectually, physically, emotionally, spiritually, etc. If love isn't objective, it's all relative to the person's preferences, making it subjective. Personally, I believe in love to be the truest thing there is, and that is what motivates me to have faith

  • @P00P00Head i agree you dont need religion to listen to good music

  • Beautiful! thanks for posting it reminds me when I was away from the Lord, and He brought me back to Him.

  • Glad you came back to him.

  • love this song

  • amazing.just amazing from Jars of Clay...

    thanx for posting samunruh

  • Well done loved the video-

  • I thought the Video to the song was perfect! I did not think the pictures were to provocative, it depicted the message in the song perfectly, it reaches people where not only they are, but where they need to be reach. I too have been guilty of the message in this song, I Praise God that his mercy always take me back.

  • This is a great song and it has an awsome message! however I didnt like some of the pictures used for the video. this is a christian song and when you put half nude pictures with a christian song it sends the wrong message...

  • Nearly perfect video--I love this song. I'd put the Scripture quotes prior to the song rather than following it if I was the producer.

  • Thanks so damn much for putting this song and video up here...wonderfully made.

  • thats how you do it right there...

...swear on a christian video, and then say you liked the song

  • :] lol

  • i know, i cant belive people like holzkiwuf.

  • good job man, I don't like it when ppl do that...but we are supposed to love everyone...

  • well i think this song is the FUCKING bomb! (for emphasis ;-)

ive been a big jars fan for years and the Truth within their music is moving

  • If cursing is wrong, then why ever say any harmful words. The Bible never listed words that were wrong. It just advises us not to curse. So therefore if you call something "stupid" or "lame" well you're cursing it aren't you? Jesus came for the ones who "cursed" and didn't necessarily use the "right words." And He "turned over tables" because of the ones who stood by giving a "thumbs down" to them. Just a thought.

  • I think it's more by the meaning of the words. The f word, and s word, a re both used in situations where it doesn't actually make any sense to their dictionary meaning. I mean, we don't shout SEX! if something goes wrong, or POO!

But when we say something is stupid, we're following the meaning. This could come under being mean to someone, unless you aren't.

But then, those are just my thoughts - any ideas?

  • Parabéns! Essa música do jars é belíssima e as fotos q vc usou encaixaram-se perfeitamente.

    Belo trabalho!

    Deus te abençoe

  • Translation:
