@TheForeverhorsecrazy ...This person has posted multiple vids of this same horse who never indicates by his body language he's been frightened. When you train horses long enough you get an understanding of their body language, & his is saying he's purely rebellious. Granted, they could be dealing with a horse that had very abusive training in the past, & he's was allowed to learn this behavior from poor handling/abusive training of his past. Some good trainers can correct it; but not always...
@TheForeverhorsecrazy ....I have a theory that laid back breeds allow for abusive training, & most of them won't learn to fight back by attempting to kill their riders: They are the QH & Paint "pleasure" horses, & the high-stepping TWHs. But you can't pull that with other more high-strung breeds, such as TBs & Arabs. They're protective mechanism brings out their desire to want to virtually kill their abusers - & I can't say I blame them!
When a horse bolts like that you have to turn its head by using one rein, it can't move forward or buck if this is done. When the horse is mounted you should normally have the left rein shorter and be prepared for this to happen or if the horse starts moving while you are mounting or any time the horse won't stop or begins to buck.
@1overthehillsfaraway my pony likes to buck after big fences and i fall of because of it but also my reason that i end up of is cos of my jumpin position , i go to far forward witch gives me no time to recover after fences and i end up falling of , but that happend me and a rally and my instructor told me to pull the right rein because she cant do anythinng when i do that and it really works :) x
@RoRoandLala Good for you, yes when you turn the horses head and bring it's head up it can not move forward or buck. A great thing to do with your horse to get it to work with you is when you are at a standstill, pull on one rein and get the horse to turn its head to the side back towards you... do this in both directions a little at a time until you can ask the horse to do it all the time and hold it there. This softens the horse up.
Are you standing because she was just beeing mounted or to balance? Or just from the bucking. Just curious. I can't see it clearly. And it might be a good way to balance.
i know its hard to not pull on the mouth, cuz my horse is still green, so he bolts alot, but i learned the best thing to do is to turn the horse to a side. grate riding tho
@piplul10 Seriously, you're not helping anyone by being a jerk. When a horse does something like that it's always very fast and you don't always have the time to control how you react, regardless of whether or not you know what to do.
if your bucked off, you dont have time to think about if you pulling or not! Obviously the people saying that have never fallen, post a video of you being bucked off and actually controlling where your hands go, then we'll talk but until then dont get too big for your britches!!
coming from someone who used to ride a pony that bolts a lot.... its not easy and when you dont have a lot of time to react you can sometimes panic. i admire this rider.
@jjbsportsyo I think that rider is far to experienced to NOT now what would happen if she stands up. Of course she knows that sitting down in these situations are the best option, but it's not so easy when you have two seconds to react and you don't even know where the saddle is. @thegirlsofcomedy99 this horse isnt bolting, because to bolt is to gallop away flat out from shear terror and panick, this horse is cantering and bucking trying to dismount the rider, almost like a horse does the first time it is backed
It is kinda scary when it happens inside because you never now if you are going to end up in the middle or get thrown against a wall. I hope the rider were okay?
Wish I was there to help- you guys just need a rider with a solid, relaxed seat- instead of mounting and letting the horse travel forward - mount horse with it's head cranked to the side- then slowly walk a circle. The horse is much less likely to gain speed or buck because it will be off balance- you just have to widen your circles out little by little. The more riders that come off - the more the horse relies on the trick to relieve bit pressure(assuming horse has been checked for back issues)
Idiots. She's pulling on his mouth because the horse is flipping out. If you guys are criticising her for trying to stay on, then none of you have ever fallen off.
and who told you that hurting a horse when he's already freaking out will help in any way? isn't it smarter to hold the mane instead and try to ease him so he can actually listen to your hand aids? sometimes you'll fall off just the same, but at leat you have a chance.
Sounds like a good way to get your neck broken sweetheart. any horsewoman knows that horses can't be 'eased' when they're freaking out. They get themselves worked up, and you simply have to do your best to stay out of trouble. This kind of thing happens to us all at some point, it's not anyone's right to criticise, let alone give out unsound, unsafe advice. Leave it to the professionals to judge..
sorry pal but this was taught to me by a lass who's been riding crasy or unbroken horses since she was a child and only fell once. I thank her for it because now i end up hanging from the horses' mane and can jump of on my feet instead of landing on my head or back. and if you can hang on without disturbing the horse further, they all eventually ease off. or maybe the horses you know are from a different planet...
so that's why you thought i had a death wish! hahahaha! hell no! i just smashed an arm when a car tried to run me and my mare over! i'm not in the mood to break anything else for some time! ;)
I still have the hank of mane I grabbed in 1971, the day my mare freaked out after seeing a pony pulling a cart. She bucked the full length of a LARGE indoor. Luckily, I was in a saddle with fat knee rolls, so I leaned back like a bronc rider and came out ok. The mare was known for bucking when I bought her, but I used a fat snaffle and she forgave most of my errors. This was, in fact, the only time she bucked with me, so I was too surprised to panic. I pulled out a lot of mane though.
that would work if one was strong enough. I once fell off a horse and was hanging from his mane for a long time trying to tell him to stop so I could let go and jump down. I'm not a light person at all, so you can imagine the sheer stregth of those neck muscles. I'm not sure u can do anything about it if the horse doesn't whant u to.
@TaylorRunyon yea exactly. i mean think about it, what would you do if you're on a horse that takes off and is crow hopping around the ring like crazy? sit there and let them toss you off? no you would pull back because that's how you stop a horse! jeez
Ok STOP telling these people how to train THEIR horse, U do NOT know the past history of this horse, or what it can do. they how ever, being THEIR HORSE know what they r doing. This is y some people should not own horses, let teh trainers do their job, and I would also like to add, can any of u stay on a horse who dose that?? if u just mounted a horse do u expect him to bolt? no u dont this is y its a green horse...no shit right?
Okay it seems this horse does not like the wall. Ty riding down the center line this should helpp. Also when riding on the rail ride slightly to the inside. try sitting back and holding on to mane when this happens
relax people, just another thoroughbred,we know theyre hot.whats with all the rude and accusing remarks?wtf do you know about this person's horse or anyone's for that matter.
daaliberryz, now you are smart .... yeah I say that rider is an ass and deserved to be bucked off .... since that rider is not civilised pulling backward in horse mouth and banging on back WHY ON EARTH SHOULD THE HORSE BE NICE ... GOOD HORSE DO IT AGAIN MAYBE THAT RIDER WILL LISTEN ... I DOUBT IT
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
there is something wrong with that horse you jerk , either his teeth , his back , horrible riders ....a horse does not do that over and over just for fun , something is wrong
this maybe sound funny, but it isnt. it looks like the horse has problems with his ass. maybe its something wrong, and that he gets hurt when he farts? please, let the vet sheck the horse.
@StableGirl105 uhm, actually they also fart when in a playful mood, like my mares would gallop/buck when playing with each other and then you would hear farts lol just saying....
@StableGirl105 and also because the force of the buck makes them fart :P you know like when you do a crunch or sit up too hard. my horse farts whenever she bucks, whether it's serious bolt or just playing around. some of the horses at my barn fart when they sneeze XD
This is the second time this horse has done this (that we have seen) ...
Oviously that means your doing something wrong again and again... Horses dont do things like that for no reason.. either there is something wrong with the rider, or the horse... its needs fixing.. you cant leave a horse behaving like that
Somebody teach this horse NOT to buck off the rider whenever he's not in the mood to be ridden. Having school horses behave this way is critically dangerous.
I don't think this is a school horse, I think it is a GREEN horse. Someone at the schooling level should not even be around a horse like this. And horses don't always buck just because they don't want to be ridden, something might have spooked it. Or sometimes when piece of tack pinches or a bee strings a horse you can get the same reaction. I watched the video of this horse before its plastic freak out and I can tell that this a good horse, just kind of sensitive to its enviroment and GREEN!
Theoretically no horse likes to be ridden since it's not in their nature. However, if people thought this way, we would have made no progress at all...:P :P :P :P Hope you realise your comment was a far cry from the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope you realize that a lot of horses actually do enjoy being ridden regardless of whether or not it's in their "nature". I'm sure our monkey-ancestors didn't sit in their trees watching YouTube videos all day, either. We still enjoy them, but it's clearly not our "nature".
One horse may not like jumping as much as galloping, but they can like being ridden regardless. Personally, I love giving my friends piggybacks.
However, you don't realize that the horse's nature has not changed very much, whereas ours has evolved hugely. Anyway, I don't know this horse's problem, he may just be green as a friend mentioned earlier but the fact is that bucking has to be corrected because it is a bad habit.. ;)
Our nature has not changed very much at all, actually. That's why the disgusting majority of people are suffering (a lot of which are ignorant of it) from the rules we've laid down for society. Authority figures are generally unaware of the fact that we're repressing our nature, mostly because it's been that way for two thousand years.
Bucking isn't something you just "correct", and that doesn't look like a habit. You'd want to find a reason for it, then figure out how to work with it.
My point here is not humans. You've missed the point. There can be many reasons for bucking (wrong saddle, a little fear, horse is green) but it must be corrected, unless you want to tell us that riding a bucking horse is normal!Well, it's not, bucking can become a habit the horse resorts to in order to get rid of the rider.Seriously, if you're ok with your horse bucking and you put up with it then your horsemanship has failed.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I repeat, bucking is not a habit. A habit is an unnecessary action developed from a more necessary action. If a horse wants their rider off their back, it's just that. Bucking doesn't become a "habit".
And if a horse doesn't want to be ridden, they can either be left alone, or worked with to figure out why it doesn't want to be ridden. That's when the "correction" becomes specific to the individual horse.
I just don't approve of any training methods that aren't natural. But that's just me.
I am all for natural horsemanship but when the horse buckks you really have to push with a lot of leg to let him know he can't get rid of you that quickly. Natural horsemanship trainers will actually tell you that you have to correct it this way.
The point isn't to "win" the battle. Horses try to buck me off and I just sit through it, they eventually understand that harming them isn't in my best interest. I don't approve of fighting to get horses under control. It can send the wrong message.
And natural horsemanship trainers are all different. Maybe some would think that's correct, but others would disagree. I'm referring more to equine psychology than natural horsemanship; the latter is a riding method, not a study.
This horse is just plain dangerous.

The more riders that come off - the more the horse relies on the trick to relieve bit pressure(assuming horse has been checked for back issues)

Idiots. She's pulling on his mouth because the horse is flipping out. If you guys are criticising her for trying to stay on, then none of you have ever fallen off.
TaylorRunyon 2 years ago 58
and who told you that hurting a horse when he's already freaking out will help in any way? isn't it smarter to hold the mane instead and try to ease him so he can actually listen to your hand aids? sometimes you'll fall off just the same, but at leat you have a chance.
DJBelbe 2 years ago
Sounds like a good way to get your neck broken sweetheart. any horsewoman knows that horses can't be 'eased' when they're freaking out. They get themselves worked up, and you simply have to do your best to stay out of trouble. This kind of thing happens to us all at some point, it's not anyone's right to criticise, let alone give out unsound, unsafe advice. Leave it to the professionals to judge..
yorkheardt 2 years ago 2
sorry pal but this was taught to me by a lass who's been riding crasy or unbroken horses since she was a child and only fell once. I thank her for it because now i end up hanging from the horses' mane and can jump of on my feet instead of landing on my head or back. and if you can hang on without disturbing the horse further, they all eventually ease off. or maybe the horses you know are from a different planet...
DJBelbe 2 years ago 4
have you ever tried holding onto a horses man while its trying to buck you off? just wondering...i would take the horse in a circle
CuteKitties30 2 years ago
agreed, that's the idea. I usually hold on to the mane with one hand and try to turn the neck with the other.
DJBelbe 2 years ago 2
oh i get it. i thought you were gonna drop the reins and just hold onto the mane for dear life. but thats a smart idea =)
CuteKitties30 2 years ago
so that's why you thought i had a death wish! hahahaha! hell no! i just smashed an arm when a car tried to run me and my mare over! i'm not in the mood to break anything else for some time! ;)

ok good =) now i understand!!

I pulled out a lot of mane though.
duckhollowfarm 2 years ago
I think sometimes you need to use the reins to try to get the horse's head up to lessen the bucking.
UltimateDQ 2 years ago
that would work if one was strong enough. I once fell off a horse and was hanging from his mane for a long time trying to tell him to stop so I could let go and jump down. I'm not a light person at all, so you can imagine the sheer stregth of those neck muscles. I'm not sure u can do anything about it if the horse doesn't whant u to.
DJBelbe 2 years ago
Ya, if you catch them early enough, it can work, but once they're going full on, sometimes there's not much you can do.
UltimateDQ 2 years ago
@TaylorRunyon i agree with you.
horselover4ever131 1 year ago
@TaylorRunyon And maybe trying to lift his head so the bucking becomes more difficult ;)
Alishondra 1 year ago
@TaylorRunyon yea exactly. i mean think about it, what would you do if you're on a horse that takes off and is crow hopping around the ring like crazy? sit there and let them toss you off? no you would pull back because that's how you stop a horse! jeez
icecreamwitcherries 1 year ago
@TaylorRunyon to stop a horse from bucking u need to pull the head up..so she is doing in right.... you have never fallen off a bucking horse...

Ok STOP telling these people how to train THEIR horse, U do NOT know the past history of this horse, or what it can do. they how ever, being THEIR HORSE know what they r doing. OMFG!! Horses fart when they get nervous, not because they have ASS problems.. You people need to know what your talking about before you comment...

Yeah but it could be problems, like collic (not sayin its the case cos prob not) but when a horse has collic it gets very gassy...
DeathKitty123456 2 years ago
@StableGirl105 Or when they are just releasing gas (they can also fart of relaxation)
Alishondra 1 year ago
@StableGirl105 uhm, actually they also fart when in a playful mood, like my mares would gallop/buck when playing with each other and then you would hear farts lol just saying....
Snipperella 1 year ago
@StableGirl105 and also because the force of the buck makes them fart :P you know like when you do a crunch or sit up too hard. my horse farts whenever she bucks, whether it's serious bolt or just playing around. some of the horses at my barn fart when they sneeze XD

there could be many reasons why this horse does the same crazy things when mounted. maybe try lounging him and see what he does
crazyhorse659 2 years ago
This is the second time this horse has done this (that we have seen) ...
Oviously that means your doing something wrong again and again... Horses dont do things like that for no reason.. either there is something wrong with the rider, or the horse... its needs fixing.. you cant leave a horse behaving like that
Krrosec 2 years ago
they are fixing or have fixed him i believe. it's the same horse in every video i think. there isn't anything wrong with either of them,

Somebody teach this horse NOT to buck off the rider whenever he's not in the mood to be ridden. Having school horses behave this way is critically dangerous.
Lollitsa 2 years ago
I don't think this is a school horse, I think it is a GREEN horse. Someone at the schooling level should not even be around a horse like this. And horses don't always buck just because they don't want to be ridden, something might have spooked it. Or sometimes when piece of tack pinches or a bee strings a horse you can get the same reaction. I watched the video of this horse before its plastic freak out and I can tell that this a good horse, just kind of sensitive to its enviroment and GREEN!

If a horse doesn't like being ridden, then don't force them to be ridden. Easy =D
Peachzilla 2 years ago
Theoretically no horse likes to be ridden since it's not in their nature. However, if people thought this way, we would have made no progress at all...:P :P :P :P Hope you realise your comment was a far cry from the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lollitsa 2 years ago
I hope you realize that a lot of horses actually do enjoy being ridden regardless of whether or not it's in their "nature". I'm sure our monkey-ancestors didn't sit in their trees watching YouTube videos all day, either. We still enjoy them, but it's clearly not our "nature".
One horse may not like jumping as much as galloping, but they can like being ridden regardless. Personally, I love giving my friends piggybacks.
Peachzilla 2 years ago 6
However, you don't realize that the horse's nature has not changed very much, whereas ours has evolved hugely. Anyway, I don't know this horse's problem, he may just be green as a friend mentioned earlier but the fact is that bucking has to be corrected because it is a bad habit.. ;)
Lollitsa 2 years ago
Our nature has not changed very much at all, actually. That's why the disgusting majority of people are suffering (a lot of which are ignorant of it) from the rules we've laid down for society. Authority figures are generally unaware of the fact that we're repressing our nature, mostly because it's been that way for two thousand years.
Bucking isn't something you just "correct", and that doesn't look like a habit. You'd want to find a reason for it, then figure out how to work with it.
Peachzilla 2 years ago
My point here is not humans. You've missed the point. There can be many reasons for bucking (wrong saddle, a little fear, horse is green) but it must be corrected, unless you want to tell us that riding a bucking horse is normal!Well, it's not, bucking can become a habit the horse resorts to in order to get rid of the rider.Seriously, if you're ok with your horse bucking and you put up with it then your horsemanship has failed.
Lollitsa 2 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
I repeat, bucking is not a habit.
Peachzilla 2 years ago
I am all for natural horsemanship but when the horse buckks you really have to push with a lot of leg to let him know he can't get rid of you that quickly. Natural horsemanship trainers will actually tell you that you have to correct it this way.
Lollitsa 2 years ago
The point isn't to "win" the battle. Horses try to buck me off and I just sit through it, they eventually understand that harming them isn't in my best interest. I don't approve of fighting to get horses under control. It can send the wrong message.
And natural horsemanship trainers are all different. Maybe some would think that's correct, but others would disagree. I'm referring more to equine psychology than natural horsemanship; the latter is a riding method, not a study.
