@Dovahninja Sam Raimi did not want to use Venom in "Spider-Man 3"- but he was forced to by Avi Arad. He originally wanted the Vulture to be a secondary villain- but he was forced to drop him from the story. Then he decided to use him as the main bad guy for "Spider-Man 4"- but that led to him deciding to not direct the film after the producers refused to let him do the story he wanted.
