Real country singers like this are almost all gone physically but spiritually they will always be in our hearts and remind us of those good ole days of listenin' to music with Dad and Grandpa....
I heard this for the first time today on KKUP FM "People's Radio. " I can't believe I never heard it before. Great song by a great man! Thanks for posting!
Can't stop tappin my foot to this one, and i just love the openin lines on it to, but it sounds alot like the song is about Waylon himself, and BJS!! But anyways 5***** and striaght to my favorites
This hurts folks, come on, how can anyone not know this? This was the best singer of all time, give him some credit. By the time I was 8 years old I could pick up his guitar in 2 notes. I am 41 now.
excellent song. only heard it first time today, this is me about 50th time hearing it now haha. what a legend.
Im debating weather or not to get his W sign tattoo'ed on my shoulder blade or a portrait of him on shoulder blade and johnny cash on other shoulder blade. Legends :)
I keep finding new, great songs from Waylon everyday . (they're new to me) This one is no exception. Thanks for posting and thank the lord above for Waymore Waylon!
South Bound Out Out Of Shreveport Heading Hell Bent For (His Early) Grave. So true and too bad. When you know Waylon's life story, he was the BEST. You see, Waylon never intentionally set out to hut anyone. He could write, sing and really pick that guitar. Waylon Jennings is known as a Nashville Renegade and Country Outlaw, but he is really an Institution, Icon and Legend.
That is basically what I have come to learn about the man. And Jessi Colter a GREAT WIFE too.
I think the reason that this song was not released on the original "Lonesome On'ry and Mean" and "Waylon Live" albums is the line "I don't think Jesus knows him, 'cause he ain't the Jesus kind." Not even Ol' Hoss could get away with that back then.
It's not on the original. It's on the cd released back a few years ago and it was "previously unreleased" with a few other classics as well. The live version is great as well.
The world lost one awesome entertainer there never be another Waylon Jennings but his work and effort will never be forgotten
