  • Thank you so much for answering my last question, sorry but i have two more! After the egg has hatched how much longer do you wait to take it out, and move it to the box? Also, at what age do you take it out of the box and move it to the coop? Sorry for all the questions! Thanks.. (:

  • Hey, I really need someone to answer this question. Will this incubator work for one egg? Or should i put at least two eggs in it ? Please respond !

  • @irunforlive12 One egg will be quite ok. But... you really should do more than one because chicken eggs have a hatching rate % . That one egg might not hatch.

  • where did get the eggs, and you where did you buy the thermometer thing, please reply

  • @roryfuntime the eggs have to come from a farm. The thermometer I bought at walmart.

  • how much water do u add at a time when trying to raise the humidity once it starts going down? what us ur hatch rate with this incubator? and whats a good price estimate for everything (except for picture glass, i have that)?

  • @ErinsReadings 1/4 cup, 25% ( I only hatched one batch , there is a vid), 5 dollar cooler, 7 dollar thermometer, 10 dollar lamp, 1 dollar screen.

  • where can u get a cooler like that, and how much does it cost?

  • how do u raise the huminity do u just add water? Also, doesnt the light catch on fire?

  • @TomAndJerry246 yes, just add water. Use a low watt bulb and keep it away from the sides.

  • @epicfantasy can you use a plastic container??

  • @ladybigmomma1968 probably not good. Needs to retain the heat well. Thats why the cooler. I would worry about the heat and the plastic too.

  • @ladybigmomma1968 well we have used a plastic container, and the eggs seem to be keeping very warm so we are just expiermenting anyways, thanks for advice

  • Did they hatch? :)

  • how big is the cooler?

  • is that some sort of speial bolb?

  • @Dubsky1678 no, plain old bulb,

  • thats awesome

  • did anybody else come here because they thought it said egg in cucumber.

  • @FudgeMonkeyVideo lol, I think you are probably the only one :)

  • @epicfantasy

    Mee To

I Through It Was Egg In Cucumber

  • where do you get the eggs?

  • @Reesesjake You have to get them from a farm. Somebody that raises live chickens. You can't use supermarket eggs. I know somebody that raises chickens. Was easy for me.

  • @epicfantasy - There are some stores that sell hatchable eggs. I think the one I kept hearing of was called "Wholefoods" (we don't have it where I live, so I'm not sure) and I believe Trader Joe's too, but don't quote me.

  • can i put a paper towel to keep it clean?... and where did you get your thermometer and how much did it cost?

  • @jonny123193 no paper towels, you should allow refuse to fall to the bottom. I got my thermometer at Walmart. Only cost about 8 dollars.

  • you should of used lead pencil not marker or the baby chicks inside could suck the poison and die!!!

  • @robertmcfunny great comment. I used childrens crayola non toxic marker. Simple water based. good advice though

  • I put the eggs in mine earlier today, hopefully all goes well!

  • @Farmboy307 good luck. This is a nervous time!

  • slow down

  • no necesita abanico

  • need help my son is doing a project for school can bring the hummiti up

  • what about a toaster oven

  • k, I have farm and stuff... Just one question - how do I know that the egg is impregnated ?

  • What wasn't said with if you buy fertile eggs and you want to put them in straight away, DO NOT DO IT! because the eggs have to settle for 24 hours. that is so the air pocket settles back to the top because of the travel they flick around and stuff.

  • press 1 rapidly and he says riz

  • what do we do now that the bulbs are illegal to purchase?

  • @jamesbnorman1 great question. Wonder what will happen now those bulbs are being phased out.

  • @epicfantasy

They are not illegal if they are meant to "industrial use" ;D That's..... quite industrial to me ;D

  • @jamesbnorman1 -- They still make light bulbs for heat, like grow light. I think you will still be able to find some of the incandescent bulbs around in the future.

  • Can you use this technique for different type of eggs? such as lovebird eggs?

  • @jeppy8383 yes, but the temperature, length of time and humidity.

  • I was reading around and some people have a fan. Is it ok not to have one?

  • @HoangXinh I am not sure about the fan. It it probably an automatic thing. If you make your own incubator the fan will probably be too much. Test and see.

  • @lorenitachinchi It came out of a lamp. Socket, cord, its all one part.

  • i think easy way is to use dimmer for lightbulb

  • hey thx dude

    REALLY HELPFUL

im using eggs my hens laid and im pretty sure they're fertile but do u know how to make sure they are?

and how do u let go of heat without losing humitity?

  • Do you use regular eggs?

  • @jwl121267 no, you have to get eggs from a farm.

  • @epicfantasy o ok :)

  • Just wondering... Would a big card board box do? (big shoe box?)

  • @HazzaripHD probably not, it will lose heat too fast. You mmight be able to wrap something around it? make it more insulating?

  • @epicfantasy k thx, also how do you keep up with all these comments + views?

  • thanks for posting this sir..it's really useful.

  • sir, how often you turn the egss?

  • @rushboy24 you want to turn them about 3 times everyday. You can go higher so I've heard but should stick with the odd numbers. Hope I'm not to late to help!

  • Bad ass thank you man!

  • I saw that you hatched moe. That's really cool. But I was curious about how you keep the temperature stable enough. Not too hot or too cold. I have two videos on my fridge incubator, I have a thermostat to control the temperature. A wafer thermostat.

  • @quintinp02 Once you adjust it to the right temp it stays there. It takes some time and tinkering but it gets there.

  • @epicfantasy is that water is a hot one?

  • @mrmanpower22 The water is just regular temp tap water.

  • how did you plug up the light bulb? Do you need a special cord just for one lightbulb?

  • @jaddadajamiilah Good question. I took this out of a lamp. It is complete, cord, bulb and socket.

  • i made one of these for miini sciensest i got to intel but sadly my 6 chivkens died =[ sad

  • this was incredibly helpful.

  • did i can do this without bulb

  • how much hours a day should i rotate the eggs

  • will leaving the bulb on start a fire?

  • @caiteebabiee no, but be safe! Low wattage bulb and don't let it touch the styrofoam. The eggs need the constant heat.

  • this is helpf ul too because i have many animals of different kinds and this can be used too for a small animal/reptile that is ill. Thank you.

  • Did the eggs hatched

  • @27djhamza 1 of the eggs hatched (Moe) I have a vid of that. ANd I have a vid of Moe all grown up too!

  • Does it have to be glass covering? or can it be like... plastic or something?

  • @xXxNyomixXx IT can most definitely be some kind of plastic. I used glass because it was easy, I used the glass from a picture frame.

  • R thlse chicken eggs wow

  • HELP!! How often and the right manner if the eggs need to be rotated?

  • @septemberafternoon61 I forget how often to rotate the eggs. I think I say it in the video.

  • @septemberafternoon61 only3-4 times a day

  • @sk8m8maze you can't use eggs from the super market

  • @alopez193 it works.. check mythbusters, granted not all eggs work but 4 out of 10 can turn into chickens.

  • Does its work with eggs from the supermarket???

  • @sk8m8maze no coz they r in the cold it has to be from a hen u cant leave it from more than 7 days if u r usiing a hen k

  • @outragedalien , im going to be making an incubator for school, should i be concerened about the duct tape, or is this a good way?

  • uhm quick question why doesnt the extreme heat melt or burn the cooler?

  • @kgr1997 The heat isn't too bad. Just makes sure the bulb doesn't touch the cooler. Then it would melt.

  • The 4 stooges! But you forgot the last "third" stooge, curly joe and the other joe.

  • Instead of poking holes in your cooler try using a dimmer switch for your light!

  • @jasonreopelle great idea!

  • thank you so much for your advice but i have one more question. if i am opening the incubator to turn the eggs , will that release some of the heat? if so how do i maintain good temp.?thanks so much!

    please respond!!!

  • @beastlychic1 it releases some heat, just be quick! and monitor afterwards. It will be ok. Good luck with the baby chicks!

  • my 25 watt (direct light) lightbulb gave me temperatures like 110 F

  • By the way,has anybody tryed this and had it work for them?

  • I am doing a science fair project and REALLY need to know what type of incubator would be the cheapest to make..I need to hatch..probley about a dozen eggs and it will probley be up to 21 days.Any suggestions? As soon as is possible for you, respond please!!!!

  • @HailpieXSleetfur This type of incubator is pretty cheap. The most important thing is the safety of the chicks.

  • @epicfantasy thanks!

  • HI! i am doing a school science fair project and want to see which hatches better a cardboard or styrofoam incubator! i was planning on using you incubator instructions to build mine and was wondering if these instructions would work for 18 or so eggs ( i would be using a bigger cooler. ) also, with the humidity how do i control it? PLEASE respond , thanks:)

    any tips will help:)

  • @beastlychic1 Styrofoam will be much better because it will hold the heat. A bigger cooler probably means a bigger light bulb. A bigger dish of water or a second dish of water will help to maintain the humidity. I wouldn't do that big a batch though. As a first try I would go smmaller. It will be less difficult.

  • can i use eggs that is stored at room temperature? plz reply!

  • @wilhelmpaoloquinto Yes, it is possible those eggs are ok for a week. As long as they come from a farm and not the store.

  • I've just built an incubator myself but even with 2 bowls of water i can't get the humidity above 35% any ideas please ?

    Steve :)

  • Can you just take a box and use a heat lamp?

  • on which temperature a egg hatch in incubator...and how it take time to hatch

  • Some people are getting refrigerated eggs to hatch when purchased for an organic grocer....

  • did they end up hatching???

  • @azmonkeyboy2 1 did, and grew up very nicely. I have some more vids showing the hatching. His name is Moe.

  • Can I use an egg from the fridge plz reply?

  • @3nitoro no, eggs from the fridge are not fertilized. Will never hatch. sorry

  • @3nitoro wish I could give you some eggs. I get about three dozen a day!

  • this is cool, ive gotta try this...curiosity has got me!!!

  • how can i make the temp higher if its to low

    please reply

  • @TheJoseboii Try a stronger bulb. but first check for leaks in your incubator. That is the most common problem.

  • Would this work for budgie eggs?

PLEASE RESPOND!!!! I NEED TO KNOW!!

  • @Tobuscusluva sorry, i don't know. The temperature would probably be different.

  • sir i have no temperature toy

and i have no 25 bulb i have 100 wait bulb plz reply me

  • @Qasir4u that bulb is too hot, have to try harder! The baby chicks are very precious.

  • Wouldnt 100 degrees cook the egg?? isnt that boiling temperature for water!? o.0

  • @FightingDreamsPro Actually, 212 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • @epicfantasy, please tell me the rotating schedule of the eggs.

    thanks

  • @almosteverythinghere I can't remember the rotating schedule. Its in the video however.

  • Can eggs hatch if I shine them with a lightbulb in a confined container for 21 days? Or do I have to do it exactly like what u do (plz reply)

  • @is4ac101 The temperature is very very important. You have to make an incubator!

  • Hey epic, great tutorial. Did your stooges hatch out allright?

  • @milky15 Only Moe hatched. I have a vid showing him hatch, a vid showing him as a chick. And a vid showing him almost full grown. Moe is cool. Lot of fun.

  • Hey! Ive just made an incubator based off this video but was wondering if you ever had to replace the bulb while you were incubating the eggs? i'm kinda worried that the bulb in mine is going to blow and i don't have a replacement one. Thanks

  • @BoomBeepBoomBeep bulbs are very durable if you simply leave them on. They almost never blow out. The big strain on them is the turning on and off. You should be good because this bulb stays on. I would do my best to try to get a spare bulb and keep it in reserve. the baby chicks are worth that effort :)

  • @malisa2k11ere

    Ahaa

    Thanks

And is it full of water ?

  • is the temperature Celsius or Fahrenheit

  • @g22adidas fahrenheit

  • Did your eggs hatch?? Even with the special markers for the writing on the shell? Cause I have two duck eggs and don't want to write on them with anything till i'm sure it won't hurt them!! :)

  • Nevermind! :) I watched the video again and found my answer!!!

  • What kind of light bulb did you use??

  • What is that purple thing ?

  • @epicfantasy I want to THANK YOU 10000000000 times for this! I did exactly what u said and this is the first time I hatched eggs ! The egg that I had hatched into the best duck Ever!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU !!!!!!!!

  • @cuddlies306 You are very welcome. Nice job and grats on the baby duckling!

  • when i make this, i will name the chicken feathyrs :D

  • writing on eggs will poisin your chicks

  • @jeremiahweed94 this is an excellent point. You should never write on the eggs. The egg absorbs stuff through the shell. i did, but I used crayola non toxic, water markers. I think that was ok.

  • do you have to have a light bulb, do they need this to hatch. thanks

  • @master11552010 yes, they need the heat

  • I've had eggs stored for two weeks before and they still hatched. 70-78 Degrees F for eggs storage. AVOID direct sunlight.

  • @epicfantasy where did you get the thermometer that measures the humidity?

P.s this was very helpful, thank you

  • Eh how do u kno wen to put da eggs in da incubator hahaha....

  • how i can control the temperature and the humidity?

  • i found a nest in my mail box we did not know there were eggs in the nest and we knocked it out unfortunatley only one of the three eggs didn't crack i don't know how to keep the egg warm so i am assuming this will work i know there is little chance this egg is still alive because the membrane could be damaged but can you please let me know where i can find out what kind of bird it is? it is a pale light green blue color? PLEASE HELP

  • @videosvlogsreviews Difficult to say what bird it could be. Might be a robins eggs, finches, starlings or bluebirds.

  • does this work for canada goose eggs?

  • Does this apply for quail eggs?

  • ok thanxx

  • can u use any egg like even in your fridge ones ??

  • @MrSymphany no, those eggs are not viable for baby chickens.

  • does it works the same for birds? because I found a nest abandoned by the parents... I don't want to just leave it there to die...

  • @Raindr0ps sorry for the delay, but you can use this for many types of birds but... each type of bird has specific temperature and humidity needs so you have to look that up.

  • so i can hatch eggs from the kind of eggs i eat sunny side up?

  • @leafy101leaf No, those are not viable eggs.

  • Hey - quick question - So I just received a few hatching duck eggs and have started the incubation process - for a few minutes or so the temperature got up to around 104 degrees... Once I came and checked I immediately took them out and let them cool for a bit... Since then the temp has been fairly constant. Did I most likely damage all the embryos? Should I start over and get a new batch? Thanks for posting this video! It's the most helpful one out there! :)

  • @Godardadventures hmm,, could be a disaster. Hard to say. I would stick with them. don't give up on them..

  • Oops I meant to put any, not net

  • Hey @epicfantasy, I have A goose egg, I made an incubator just like yours on the vid, I also have A duck egg which is active inside and is hatching soon I must thank u for this video :) it's a great help! But my goose egg is all black inside and it's heavy , it doesn't smell but do u have net idea if there's a live goose in there? Thank you for all the help. And thanks too you, my duck egg is saved (which means u helped it live:) ) THANK You

  • @sbourassa wow, nice job on the duck egg! I have no idea about the good egg though. You probably should research goose eggs specifically. Every species has differing requirements.

  • what happens if we left the box open at 100F

  • @TheKiller641 its, ok to leave the box cracked open for a short period to get the temp back down. But not long, you will lose the humidity. Poke holes in it to get the temp and humidity right. I should do another vid of Moe, he hatched and is full grown now.

  • Thanks for the great how-to video.

  • What happens if the humidity is too high?

  • @cheriere3 It can cause problems with the chicks shell,

  • do you need to take the eggs out at one point?

  • hi...my mom is planning to raise ducks.does this homemade incubator work for duck eggs?waiting for reply.thanks

  • @reafernandez20 I really am not sure. The temp probalby has to be different. Gotta research it.

  • @epicfantasy HMMm,i felt bad...im the one who is planning to raise thousand ducks but i dont have much knowledge about it and egg incubator is very expensive here in the phils...anyways thanks.

  • why do you put in a sponge and water
