I believe the s&m trigger feels lighter because it is about 1\4th of an inch further back than the trigger on the glock so for the glock you have to extend your figure further making feel heavier.
@friedstuffable The M&P was designed for the .40 S&W cartridge, unlike the GLOCK kaboomers, and the M&P has a better grip for comfort. So for that caliber, it is a better choice.
You are a bit off with the mag safety, the yellow bar is to take the gun down. You take the tool out that lets you change out your grips, and flip that lever down with it. On the models which have the mag saftey it has a completly different lever right next to the yellow one that is spring loaded. This is a very nice gun and I use mine quite often and trust my life with it. I have probably fired over 1,000 rounds through it and have never had a single problem, misfire or stovepipe.
Dude way to much oil for storage, just do a spray into a cotton ball and run it over leaving a light residue! That particular gun made the 500k test, basically they took all the leading pistols and did 500k slide pulls, trigger pulls and this and that. There were only a few that survived and made the 500k. The M&P and the XD were at the top. The Glock was out before 100k. You bought a nice pistol dude, know that and trust it with your life. If I could only carry 1 it would be the XD or M&P!

Mags fall out when shooting, rear sights fell off of gun when firing, constant jams and failure-to-feed problems..oh yeah, and to take the slide off for cleaning purposes, you have to STICK A PEN or similar object into the chamber during "lock-back" stage to hit a thin yellow lever! I've seen plenty of people at my range, who have M&P's and have tens of thousands of rounds through them with no problems at all. It's also a serious contender to replace the military's M9, and for a damn good reason. One department having problems with a couple M&P's doesn't change anything.

Believe me, if you were in my shoes and were on your 3rd new batch of these guns, you would be singing a different tune. Research and let me know if you find any other departments in the country who replaced the same guns 3 times.

Some research would have done you good. You can get this pistol with the magazine disconnect or without. Anyone can, not just police. You can also get it with a 1911 style thumb safety.

The "gold bar" you speak of is your SEAR deactivation lever. The reason they put the caution on the side is because many pistols can not fire w/o a mag. I love my M&P9, 1500+ flawless rounds thus far. Also with modern finishes covering the weapon in oil does no good. Otherwise great review; M&P's are great weapons.
Great weapon I have the same one, it shots true and handles great, I carry this one all the time. I would recommend this Smith&Wesson as a personal carry for most people.
I think the large grip is for people with big hands so the slide does not catch the top of their thumb. I am about an averaged sized man but I have large hands for my body size and with the medium grip the slide catches my thumb so very slightly but just enough that when I am done shooting (several practice rounds) that I will notice a very fine cut on my thumb... on the joint-knuckle where my thumb connects to my hand.

my M&P9L has over3500 rds and not a single misfire or jam. also mt MP45 has over 2000 rds and ive never had an issue with that either. I use both factory and reloads. contact s&w and have them look at your gun.

I think the large grip is for people with big hands so the slide does not catch the top of their thumb. I am about an averaged sized man but I have large hands for my body size and with the medium grip the slide catches my thumb so very slightly but just enough that when I am done shooting (several practice rounds) that I will notice a very fine cut on my thumb... on the joint-knuckle where my thumb connects to my hand.

my M&P9L has over3500 rds and not a single misfire or jam. also mt MP45 has over 2000 rds and ive never had an issue with that either. I use both factory and reloads. contact s&w and have them look at your gun.

did you get any recalls for your mags? because i know my father's police department had to send their mags back for flat black ones..they aren't shiny..just curious..most pds have night sights on their firearms...and you don't need to pull the trigger to take it down..the whole point of that little bar is so you don't have to pull the trigger....rack and lock the slide open and then pull that bar down, rotate the lever and pull the slide off.

Dude - WAY TOO MANY uhh's and ummmm's and uh spaces/gaps between words/sentences. If you were a teacher, your class would all be cutting zzzzzzzzz's, for sure. You might want to have a list of all the functions your want to address at your side and use it to sequence you into your next thought. Camera work was good as I got to imagine what my finger nails shouldn't look like when doing a review. Other than that, ummm, I uhhhh, well, ummmm think uhhhh you ummmm did uhhhh a good ummmm job!
