I don't think this song is too bad. But I agree with SleepyFroggy. People seem to label anything dissonant as mathcore. It doesn't automatically become math just because there's dissonant chords in there.

2 GREAT bands, man. Although I don't really like having super specific classifications for genre, basically anything with "core" at the end of it involves screaming, so Tera Melos wouldn't be considered mathcore, more like experimental/math rock. I'd call the Fall of Troy progressive hardcore, cuz although they do switch up time signatures at times, that's not really their focus so I wouldn't call them a "math"-based band.
There's not anything wrong with mixing up the time signature a bit; it can produce interesting results with many songs.
But, if you want to hear how it's done tastefully, go listen to some classical music.
If you want to hear what happens when a bunch of weak-minded douchefags from suburbia bother to read a Wikipedia article on time signature, well then go about your business and forget I said anything! ^_^

I disagree. I EXTREMELY enjoy Gojira, Meshuggah, Sybreed, Fellsilent, Periphery, Protest and much more. I really dont think if you string random riffs together tightly so it SOUNDS like one song, and then yell over it makes you "mathcore" If you like this type of music thats awesome, but there are very educated people out there that dont use their talents in this particular way. So its unfair to say people are uneducated if they dont like. I UNDERSTAND this music, but i dont..... understand it.
While I agree with the majority of your statement, the foundation of Mathcore was in the early to mid 90s (First Converge albums, Botch, etc), while Deathcore didn't really start forming till the early 2000s, so the statement where you imply that Mathcore has Deathcore vocals is kind of backwards. Otherwise, full agreement. I didn't fully understand what was going on with a lot of it until I took music theory.

@dimeogod i respect this type of music, but as does with the world, music can be split into two parts: talent and style. They might have a godly amount of talent, but if they cant sound cool "in my opinion," then usually i wont listen to them. That is why i listen to regular metal or metalcore such as metallica or killswitch engage, resp. because it is a balance of style and talent. And one more thing, metallica is dying band and i don't listen to them much anymore.
Talent and unusual time signatures does NOT always equal good music. Look at serialism music. Sure it's interesting but it still sounds like shit. Yes, it does require talent to play them but it's the same as someone who plays nothing but 16th notes at 180 BPM over and over.

Its suppose to be like a..."find the beat" kinda thing. Polyrhythmic, beats in between beats. If you wanna hear something more distinct, check out Sybreed or Meshuggah, those are my favorite. This band i thought fucking sucked! Wastes of life in my opinion...

it really is only designed to appeal to those with musical knowledge. off time signatures, deathcore vocals, hard rock riffs and breakdowns. if you think this isnt good music, you clearly just dont have an understanding of fucked up time signatures and the talent required to play them so precisely.

I disagree. I EXTREMELY enjoy Gojira, Meshuggah, Sybreed, Fellsilent, Periphery, Protest and much more. I really dont think if you string random riffs together tightly so it SOUNDS like one song, and then yell over it makes you "mathcore" If you like this type of music thats awesome, but there are very educated people out there that dont use their talents in this particular way. So its unfair to say people are uneducated if they dont like. I UNDERSTAND this music, but i dont..... understand it.

While I agree with the majority of your statement, the foundation of Mathcore was in the early to mid 90s (First Converge albums, Botch, etc), while Deathcore didn't really start forming till the early 2000s, so the statement where you imply that Mathcore has Deathcore vocals is kind of backwards. Otherwise, full agreement. I didn't fully understand what was going on with a lot of it until I took music theory.

@dimeogod as much as I agree with that statement, and enjoy this genre of music, one can't say that this is the pinnacle of music. sure, it takes a shitload of talent and musical inclination and skill to produce something so precise and bizarre at the same time, but anyone who has mastered the drums for example can bang and clash to their heart's content. It takes true skill to play something like smooth jazz, which has equally fucked up time signatures, but much softer.... (continued)

@dimeogod i respect this type of music, but as does with the world, music can be split into two parts: talent and style. They might have a godly amount of talent, but if they cant sound cool "in my opinion," then usually i wont listen to them. That is why i listen to regular metal or metalcore such as metallica or killswitch engage, resp. because it is a balance of style and talent. And one more thing, metallica is dying band and i don't listen to them much anymore.

Talent and unusual time signatures does NOT always equal good music. Look at serialism music. Sure it's interesting but it still sounds like shit. Yes, it does require talent to play them but it's the same as someone who plays nothing but 16th notes at 180 BPM over and over.

Its suppose to be like a..."find the beat" kinda thing. Polyrhythmic, beats in between beats. If you wanna hear something more distinct, check out Sybreed or Meshuggah, those are my favorite. This band i thought fucking sucked! Wastes of life in my opinion...
