As a Math major, this made my head explode. Don't pick consecutive numbers? They have the exact same odds of winning as any other set of numbers! In a 5-number game, choose numbers for which the sum is 104-176? That's just sums of the numbers within standard deviation from the mean, it has zero bearing on the individual numbers you choose being correct!

Go ahead and play the lottery, though. The chance you win the jackpot? Absurdly low. The chance you make $5 off your $1 purchase? Not so bad.
