I just got an FZ6 and I am surprised to see the recommended chain slack specs in the manual as 1.75-2.25 inches - sounds like a bit too much slack. Can this be right?
I set my spacers so the "ticks" were exactly the same on both sides but taking a step back you could clearly see the tire was pointed more to one side. I was told by a friend those marks are not exact, so how do I make sure the rear wheel is perfectly straight?
@arwsbrn measure the nut to nut distance on the adjuster and check its the same,if theyre the same and the ticks are the same but it still doesnt look straight id get it lazer tracked by a garage for peace of mind
great video. when replacing the chain, is it better to have the adjuster slightly more forward and take a link out of the chain (if there's not much more room to move the tire back) to compensate for the chain stretching in the future, thus allowing you to adjust it back as needed? thanks
great video! but if you dont mind i have a question. i have a Suzuki gsxr6 k8 and my brake caliper is giving me a problem. When instaling the new wheel should my caliper easly fit on top of the rotor??? thankx?
I'm writing from mexico. And This is an EXCELENT video. Here in Mexico ther is not things like this. I hope yo will have more, because i love motorcycles, and i want a be who fix my own motorcycle.

excellent how to video... Im sure you help a lot of people save money and frusteration.. if you have more in the future Im sure a lot of people would like to see em'
Every single one of Jays videos from buymoto rock. Clear and concise - well timed - not rushed, and within 10 minutes :) I'm with COMBORICO's post - helped me big time. That was easy!!!!.
i was doing this yesterday by myself it took for fucken ever to get the spacer on the brake caliper side i had to take the brake pads off then spacer in and just slip- the brake pad back on fucken bitch
Thanks but you need to find the tight spot of the chain and measure the slack at that point otherwise the adjustment could be out - or did I miss that
Another way to ensure that the the wheel stays in alignment is to adjust the left/right adjuster equally so if you turn say 1/4 of a turn out on the left u must do a 1/4 of a turn on the right so the wheel stays straight.
The only fault i could add to this video is that the markings are not allways right and i allways prefer to put a straight edge along from back to front wheel as alignment check.
This is AWESOME. I am going to do my back tire for the first time soon and I have read much about the subject however I find seeing the process done is much more valuable than reading about it alone. I cant wait to see more of your videos. Thanks.
I thought you adjust the chain relative to the riders weight, as the swing arm moves with suspension movement, hence if chain is too tight, snap crackle pop! When I sit on my bike the chain fairly tort, but how tight is too tight?
Thanks for this video. I'm actually getting ready to do this tonight. I didn't know about the axle grease so I'm going to go pick up some on the way home.
Nice work mate, i like your style. 2 thumbs up:)

Yeah, the stampings on the swingarm by the adjuster are never accurate. The best method is def. to measure and do equal lengths on either side.

pauloz386 4 years ago
Are you supposed to adjust the chain tension with the bike on the ground or on the stand?
jadzdotcom 4 years ago
Chain Tension should always be adjusted on a stand or in a position where the rear wheel is not in contact with the ground. Thanks!
buymoto 4 years ago
@buymoto Could I adjust the chain slack on center stand? You have the suspension loaded, but center stand would remove the load on the suspension.
