I think QTEs are underrated.

Much like any other game mechanic, QTEs have potential to make many games much more engaging.

It's just really unfortunate that most developers don't know how to properly use them, giving QTEs as a whole the rotten reputation it has now.

Anyway, great review! I feel much more assured that my money won't go to waste now that I've heard what you had to say about it. =]

@DjimonMoz I also think QTEs can be done well. However, I prefer more of an all (as in Heavy Rain) or none approach.

I am surprised you did not mention Radiant Historia which uses a surprisingly similar time travel mechanic. I mean I know XIII-2 uses completely different mechanic but in Radiant Historia you travel across two different timeline to eventually reach a single conclusion. Heck this game calls its mechanic Historia Crux which I think means we are going to use another games mechanic as a 'crux' for our own story. Still I do intend to check it out but you have to admit it does feel strangely similar.

@wolffster25 This game borrows heavily in the setting (aka time travel/sliding) from both Chrono Trigger/Cross and Radiant Historia. That said, that's where the similarities tend to end.

sadly, the sales figures for FFXIII-2 haven't been amazing so far. One can only hope this means that they will try to keep trying to rekindle their lost flames. . . and not just give up after this stumble.

In retrospect, making a big deal out of FFXIII did more to hurt their brand name than anything, and with so much hope riding on Versus XIII (ironically named), one must wonder if this will be enough to both solidify needed sales figures and support from fans.

Well, at least theirs BD:FF lol

@TSora so many people jumping the gun on the trailer...tbh I didn't even realize there were translations until I saw the comment about "meat my sister." Of course we all know Richard meant "Meet," simple typo, but either way this jpn line:"私はお姉ちゃんに会いたい"　was still translated correctly nonetheless =P

Now that I have no worries about the gameplay, how's the story? Is it better than FFXIII? FFXIII's story was pretty mediocre IMO.

@n00bofdestiny Well I always love time travel and sliding stories. I also love interesting yet counterintuitive concepts like “Not only does changing the past change the future, but changing the future changes the past." So if that kind of thing tickles your fancy, then yeah, pretty good story.
