  • I like your hair colour :)

  • THATS NOT GGOTHIC ...THATS A MESS!!!

  • @lovinnblue222 Do you know something about goth?

  • My hair is just past my shoulders. Is it too long?

  • Thanks a million, I've been trying to figure out how to backcomb, very helpful demonstration

  • Thank you so much for putting this up!!! This helps so much!!

  • This is insanely awesome, I have quite fair hair... but can never make the back combing last all day, although I use hair spray.. My fringe will as it is bleached red, but the rest of my hair wont.. grr..

    D':

  • I've had afro hair most of my life, which never worked for me, so i got a hair cut and started straightening it which made me look like an emo kid..I tried backcombing my hair and it looks epic, definitely a new great look thanks for the great tips i love you!

  • I love you forever. Really I do. I've been marveling at Robert Smith's hair since I saw it. I don't know why I couldn't have figured this out sooner.

  • My hair will not tease no matter what, and some people tell me i have to havve short layers, i have layers, just not short, but i dont see why thats a big deal, can you help me? i want my hair to tease just once lol.

  • @chestneychiller1 You don't really need a specific hair style to tease your hair. Do you have a tail comb and hairspray? It's a bit hard to help without me actually being there :P

  • @DeathlyNightshade Yeahh, I have this reallly good hairspray and all types of teasing combs. It never stays.. :(

  • @DeathlyNightshade Great tutorial, thanks! <3

My hair is past my shoulders and I'm a bit of a scaredy-cat when it comes to cutting it very short. I understand I will have to cut it at least a bit if I want it to turn out right, but what's the longest do you think I could get away with? c:

  • Show me show me show me how you do that trick (8)

The one that combs you, Robert Smith (8)

  • i saw your hair color and i did the exat same thing! your an isperation!

  • wow!!! you look incredable. Great job!! deep inside me is a hidden goth, if only!!

  • it looks super cool thanks! helped me a lot , my mum- when she was younger used to look exactly like siouxsie sioux, the eyes and hair and now im trying to do the same but im not sure i can do the hair as well as you did seeing as my hair is curly but i think it should look ok seeing as my mum managed it fine!

  • Came out great, gunna turn my shave into a deathHawk now <3 ThankYou~

  • OMG I love your nails! Mines are all brittles and fragiles... :(

    Great tutorial anyway! +fav

  • My Hair is like a Cactus... I Cant do it this... U_U

  • Not intended to be a rude question but here it goes. ihm sorry if i ofend you in any way.

iht seems the the majority of gothic styles or all people with gothic styles wear crosses, is there a reason, or cawinsadence ( deffinatly spelt wrong) or does it just go with the style?

  • @CaeShaeCatastrophe Lot's of Goths wear crosses, but not all of them. I sometimes wear a rosary because I think crosses are pretty. I'm not religious, and I'm not wearing it to represent religion.

But Goths can wear anything. I have lot's of Ankhs, and different pendants.

It's the same if a Goth wears a pentagram, it could mean they like the look of it, or maybe it represents their religion. So I guess it's basically up to the person wearing it, what it means to them.

  • I also just noticed you are using the theme song for "Absolutely Fabulous." NICE!

  • i have shorter hair (Jane Lane from Daria haircut in the process) so when it gets done it won't be as crazy tall but I want to wear it like this lol so one day me and all my friends will walk into our classroom (&7th grade) and star doing the Time Warp (Rocky Horror Pic Show) together while I'm in the middle singing.

  • Wooooahhh, it looks so awesome, especially with the different colours!! <3 But how do you get it back to normal? Do you just majorly brush it and then wash it?

  • @CDOBBY25 I used to brush it out. But now I just jump into the shower and wash it out. Lots of shampoo and conditioner :P

  • thats a little to crazy for my hair but it looks awesome

  • thanks man yo really helped me with hair

  • The wrost part of using a D-hawk is putting it down.... I never found to do it lightly .__.

  • cheers from Sweden sincerely a Chilean

  • sweet! thnx a lot!

  • Thanks for this, I've done it a few times now and it works really well. My hair's a little long though, so it falls down a bit. Must get it cut soon. Thanks. :)

  • pretty <3

  • I would dye my hair like yours just to mmake the hairstyle the keybord girl has in Queen of the damned \m/

    Awesome vid

  • you are awesome. im fourteen and a boy and every one has stupid hair except me now thanks to you !!!:D ahah.

  • this is realy bad for your hair. teasing make them that much make them weak

  • hehe awesome!!

xD your Australian, I'm from Perth :D

  • @GothBomb I'm from Perth too ^_^

  • I hate when people call themselves "goth" or "emo". That's how you know who the posers are.

  • @MsAmberlamps That is not necessarily true, Categorizing yourself is just a quick simple way to define your tastes/styles/lifestyle. Goth does not have negative connotations, and no one should be ashamed to be a goth or 'gothic'

  • awsome hair

  • Isnt the song from a show called Ab Fab?? GOod Vid Hun

  • @xXxForeverForgottenX Yes, Ab Fab did a cover of the Siouxsie song :P

  • @DeathlyNightshade. Siouxsie's version is actually a cover of Julie Driscoll's version of "This Wheel's On Fire". It's included on the Banshees' covers album from 1987 called "Through The Looking Glass".

Great hair Natalie. I always try to spike mine up like Robert Smith and Siouxsie definately looked her best in the early 80's, with the spiky hair. Check out my channel if you like Siouxsie.

  • @Mr13595Stephen I had always thought that Siouxsie did a cover of it too, but I never knew who sung it first. Thanks for letting me know ^_^

So many post punk bands did covers

  • @DeathlyNightshade

"This Wheel's On Fire" was originally written by Bob Dylan and Rick Danko. Because Siouxsie disliked Bob Dylan, she almost pulled out of singing the song. She said in a 1992 interview that she sulked for ages when she found out it was a Bob Dylan song.

Post-Punk and Gothic Rock is the best. Thanks.

  • @Mr13595Stephen I can imagine Siouxsie sulking about the song :P

But I do enjoy her version

  • @DeathlyNightshade

Yes, Siouxsie's version is great. What's your favourite album?

I love all of them, but my favourite is probably "Juju", followed closely by "Tinderbox", "A Kiss In The Dreamhouse" and "Hyaena".

  • @Mr13595Stephen Juju is my favourite too! Though The Looking Glass comes second. I also like The Scream, although I've spoken to people who didn't like it.

But I'm the same as you, I love all of them

  • @DeathlyNightshade

"Juju" has been hailed as a masterpiece by fans and is the most gothic sounding album, altough Siouxsie hates the "goth" tag quite a bit!

  • very lovely(: this helped a lot!

  • Ahh!! I love your hair!! Totallylooks like Siousxie's and Roberts! Cheers :D

  • Your hair looks great, but you SHOULD thin it out with either a razor or thinning shears, then your hair will not need so much hair spray and look all piecy.

  • nah-ice. I like to do my hair like Robert Smith and put the pics on myspace even though I'm a girl.

  • I love it! <3

  • Oh and PS: Your hair is gorgeous... loved the little grin at the end, you looked like a sexy female Robert Smith. ;P

  • Gothfros ftw.

  • Great tips. Your hair looks Absolutely Fabulous.

  • ive been trying to do my hair like that for a while now, but i never got it right! :P

  • I'm diggin' you hair like this.

Finally someone who teases their hair, calls it goth, and doesn't just look like a scene little cock face.

    Props!

  • Love this video, now I finally can get the Robert Smith look i want. Thank you, love your accent btw ^^

  • I wonder which one Robert uses? :P

  • Love the color of your hair! It's kinda cool! |m|

  • @RoTtEnCoRpSeBriDe Kinda cool?? Haha, thanks. This video was a while ago, currently my hair is black but I'm dying it green soon

  • thanks so much for the info hun it means alot :)

  • ya look awesome!

  • Cheers for this video!!! I wanted my hair like this for ages, and couldnt figure out how its done (ie im not into makeup/hair). But im sat here with a full on Robert Smith right now. Love it. Thank you.

  • @EngelSarah I'm so glad I could help you ^_^

  • i <3 yer hair! :)

  • <3 siouxsie and the banshees lolz

  • I have long hair and wouldn't use this because I think it would cause split end but I do think this is cool.

  • @Cheshirecat114 long hair you may want to do an up do and then tease the crap out of the ends. i had a friend do my hair once and she gave me pig tails! she pulled each of the tails only partially through and then teased it. it looked amazing!

  • i like your coler hair and i like how yu do your hair

  • can I ask, do you have thick hair, and how knotty does yours get?

  • @jeffhardyaholik01 Lucky my hair is pretty average. It's not thick, but its very tangled at the end of the night.

I always leave it and have a shower in the morning to get the crap out of my hair. I shampoo, condition and repeat. Then it's easy to comb out.

  • Dude, Siouxsie is my hero and i carry that same pic of her around asking ppl how i can get my hair to look like that.... thanks for the vid.

  • humus

  • WOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.

    Spikey *,*

  • Thanks this is awesome and i love the accent !!

  • @theloganlynn LMFAO OWNED!

@deathlynightshade your hair looks AMAZING thumbs up

  • very nice reminds me of back when me and my friends would be up at 5 in the morning getting ready for shows

  • I'm sorry if this has been mentioned before, but goths also usually use a crimping iron. Siouxsie did, anyway. :)

  • @Joinhands13 I used crimping irons once, but it took much too long :( and the irons are so hard to find now days where everyone wants straight hair

  • @DeathlyNightshade If you practice a litte bit it goes a lot quicker. I got to where I coud do the full Siouxsie tarantula hair in about 15 minutes. Beauty supply stores usually stock reasonably priced crimpers (in America, anyway), but eBay is a great place to look if you don't have any luck with them. The great thing about crimpers is that you can keep your hair healthy and still have a sharp shock of "thorns" when you want one.

  • @DeathlyNightshade bah, straight hair is boring =/

  • @DeathlyNightshade Look at either Kmart or Walmart. I bought a crimper/straight/heart/star shape plates, recently from one of those places for 20 bucks.

  • @DeathlyNightshade Look at either Kmart or Walmart. I bought a crimper/straight/heart/star shape plates, recently from one of those places for 20 bucks. If you live over seas.... I know eBay has them.

  • @o0gi3b00gi3 I do have a crimper at home. I just don't use it :P

I'm planning on using more when I get back to Australia from the UK

  • my hair is kinda semi curly cani still tese it?

  • @JacobDeadman it's always best to straighten it before if you want the classic look, but i guess if you tease it enough and use enough hairspray it's cool

  • @JacobDeadman It shouldn't effect it too much. Always practice a bit at home with just backcombing without hairspray. This will give you the effect for a little while, so you can see how it looks. Maybe try straightening it a bit.

  • @DeathlyNightshade thanks :) btw love ur videos.

  • @JacobDeadman Yeah, my used to be curly, but a couple of years ago I had it straightened twice within the course 6 months between I think. And after the few years of always keeping my hair in a ponytail, my hair now has a flat wavy look when unstraightened. :)

  • @TheLoganlynn Wow, really? At least I can spell.

  • @TheLoganlynn hey you stupid git why are you such a douche

  • @TheLoganlynn Honestly you have no idea what you're talking about. Goth people are stupid? hunny, look in the mirror. the definition of stupid is right there.

  • @TheLoganlynn wow. your so creative with your insults.

  • @TheLoganlynn ...the whole idea is to look how YOU want and not how society wants you to, and quite frankly you said that we're stupid 4 times in an 18 word comment...needless to say youre rendundant, and u sound stupid. i dont see why it matters how she looks so piss off

  • ohhhh thats crazy thanks!

  • anything by Schwarzkopf is awesomeness :D

  • pretty but i think you shouldve left down yhur bangs,, but thats just me! yhur hair looks kewl x]

  • I got same length hair like yours and dont know what to do with them...so thanks for this teasing idea XD

  • love it! my hair is way too long to get this look just now, and i'm scared to death of the tangles... but i'll have to try it sometime. looks killer.

  • nice hair style

  • This looks awesome! So, I'm guessing this is impossible to do with long hair. D:

  • omg is ur hair like a rdish pink? mine is lol can u do a cool gothic look for short pink hair?

  • @SandyGothify My hair colour in the video is from ages ago. I now have purple hair. I sadly don't know any styles for short hair, I have short hair now and I don't know what to do with it

  • @SandyGothify Google siouxsie pictures she had short hair

  • HOTTT !!* LOVED ITT .

  • im doing this every day now ty

  • aussie goths are awesome :) oh and i love your hair.

  • What song are you playing in the background-I can never remember the name of it!

  • @Glitterbladejester Siouxsie and the Banshees- This Wheels on fire

  • Wow! Your hair is AMAZING and you are gorgeous! Love your style and thank you for keeping the classic Goth hair alive-you rock! So gonna do this at the weekend when I'm out of sucky work!! :)

  • I'm a Nub and i know nothing about make up and shit but can you do that with longer hair? My hairs much longer and im sick of looking plan, i need something more me and looks awesome like that.

  • @Reneelawrence666 It really depends on how long your hair is. If its too long you wont be able to get gravity defying hair, but you'll still get a nice tangled look

  • Thanks! First thing tomorrow I am going to buy a mahoosive can of hairspray!

  • Eeee! great tutorial and I agree with you on how this style isn't used much anymore. Gotta keep it alive ^^

  • I ENJOY THIS IMMENSELY.

  • Thanks for uploading this :) I've been doing my hair similar to that for years now, except my hair is very long. I constantly get comments like 'wow, scene/emo hair!' I guess that's what teased hair seams to be associated with now. Anyways, nice to see someone who understands that's not always the case ^^

  • haha i cant believe some people go through all this to get their hair like that my hair is naturally like that idk i have a weird hair texture like a mix of curly and straight and really frizzy and if i want to get it silky straight i have to go through a lot of work but i just leave it messy and get the goth look naturally and the worst part is im not even goth im a metalhead so but anyways im glad some people apreciate this type of hair texture makes me happy of my natural hair :D

  • wow i really like ur hair! it looks awesome!

  • Comment removed

  • i love you hair its so awsome ,

  • She is all kinds of hot. Sure they sell that LACQUER stuff in America?

  • @DoubtfulGrace Wow, thankyou ^_^ I don't know what spray they have in america. My friend says Aquanet is good. I'm in england right now and using Silvikrin by Wella

  • Thank you SO much for posting this -- not only for my own benefit, but for others. We need to revive this hairstyle!

  • @thejovialflesh No, thank you for commenting. I'm always surprised at how many people are thankful. But I saw there was no other videos of backcombing, so I just had to

  • Deadly!

  • lovee ur haiir!! thanx for the videoo it really helped me lol =P

  • ZOMG I can't back comb my hair, it refuses, this helps loads

  • Ebeninkiiiiiiii :D Yolda qörsem taslarım awq :D

  • wow,I've been doing this wrong for years,I would just hold my hair up & tease it,I've never combed it like that-I'm glad I saw this = ]

  • @WitchAtHeart9196 There isin't a right and wrong way. Do whatever you feel holds your hair perfectly

  • awesome video :D i so love your hair! (and the music is great :))

  • Love it! And I love your hair. I miss having unnatural colors. Since I got my job, they don't allow that! =(

  • @richardfanx3 Yeah, I love unnatural colours too. Although its hard to get dye where I live

  • nice video, love your hair, its beautiful and awesome XD

  • yah goths rule lol <3

i love your hair and this video ROCKS :D

  • this here prooves that emo/senses got there hair from goths hmph damn copy cats.

  • Oohhh my fucking God thank you!! Someone who understands!!!

  • @AsylumScreams Haha, no problem ^_^

  • Scenes?

  • @HardcoreSEXIE Very true, and I hate when people say the Cure is emo :(

  • @DeathlyNightshade same him people just don,t no she. the cure was going before this emo shit was even around. emo is just a load of shit who thougth of the crap needs beating. we all here no the cure ant emo. like HardcoreSEXIE sad just a load of copy cats

  • @DeathlyNightshade same here. i also hate when people say metal is goth

  • @DeathlyNightshade

well, they have some very emotional music, but i agree. i loooooovetha cure :DD

  • Wow! At 1:05 onwards whilst brushing your hair, it really transforms! Probably the pink at the back in contrast with the black... :-)

  • Ohhhhhhhhh, you have to spray it before teasing it.... WOW tried that, helped a bunch, thanks for posting this.

Was wondering if you knew, I'd heard washing your hair with bar soap helps to achieve the ratty look, I've been a bit timid to try it for fear of killing my hair.

  • I only shampoo my hair before hand, I don't condition it. Otherwise the hair will be too soft.

I guess you could try soap. Your hair wont be ruined as long as you don't backcomb it ALL the time. But then again, bad hair is good :P

  • the first time i heard this song was on absolutely fabulous haha. great video

  • Great video :)

  • your nails are soooooo pretty :)

  • best brand of hairspray ever XD

  • wow,your preeeeeeeety!:)

  • This was very informative. My hair is wavy-curly-straightish, and, well...straightening really hasn't gone so good lately, and I figured it was time for a different approach. Lol. :) Thank you for posting such an awesome video.

  • Siouxsie Sioux FTW.

  • You look like a female Robert Smith, I really like it (:

  • yew look like Robert Smith :)

But in a pretty girl way :) hehe

  • i have a lot of really curly hair, and i finally got it to a point of being well conditioned and such.. do i always have to straighten my hair before i do this, & if my hair doesn't completely stand up can i use gel or wax with hairspray annnnnnnd! how much will it damage my hair?

  • Try to do it with both curly and straight hair, it takes a while to get it how you want

I've never used gel or wax because it think it would make your hair too heavy. It should be able to stand up by itself by backcombing and lots of hairspray. Try small chunks of hair to backcomb first

Backcombing does damage your hair if you do it constantly. Basically, it peels the hair (like in bleaching). Excess can cause breakage and split ends

  • hello hello... wondering what song is playing in your vid....it is siouxsie and the banshees, right

    ?

  • Yep, 'This Wheel's on Fire' by Siouxsie and the Banshees

  • your hair color is so awesome :)

id dye it like that but my parents wont let me cuz i have "unique hair"

  • Beautiful (L)

  • i dont need this...i'm like you at the end of the video when I wake up Lmao

    anyway awsome hair! =D

  • In my skewl we were suppose to b someonefrom the past and I chose to be Robert smith so I wore my trench coat and did my hair like this...people thought I was weird but o well I'm not the one who sags his jeans over his ankles...

  • i've been looking for this kind of video forever! awesome job :)

  • it's a beautiful look, but does it not damage your hair? (I would imagine it's a bitch to brush out later, and it would break more)

  • From what I gather, its really damaging if you do it constantly. I only do it once a week, so it isin't too bad.

It doesn't take too long to brush out afterwards, and conditioner really helps

  • I know how you feel :( I'm the only one that does my hair like this too :( most of the time people think I'm Knutz XD it's kinda funny ^.^ but I love this hairstyle :)

  • I've been searching for this a lot of time! 5 stars ;)

  • Thanks for this! I always want my hair to look like a mixture of Siouxsie's and Roberts! Your hair looks great!

  • looks really nice :D Do I have to cut my hair short to get better results?
