@Civitatuccillo i agree with u. I went to the US as a highschool exchange student in 1995 ( i lived in Falls Church,VA) and i really enjoyed DC. I loved the Dupont Circle area, i remember the Lambda rising bookstore, Outlook and all the relaxed activities there. I attended a support group for gay teens (SMYAL) aand after the meeting we always went to Dupont to hang out. I havent been there in almost 15 yrs and i wish i could go one more time! Greetings from Uruguay!
Dupont is always fun to visit. Lots of locals, tourists, embassy types, government employees, or folks just out and about enjoying life, and DC!!!! I love my hometown!!1
great video, viewed it to help me decied weather to move there or not. Looks appealing. Anyone want to share comments about day to day life about living there please let me know.
Nicely made video but what DeaconMac said is true. Lambda Rising and the HRC Store are must-sees. "Dupont" doesn't have a capital "P." A stroll down Q Street would have been nice. How about Corcoran or Riggs, Annie's, JR's, Dupont Italian Kitchen, Trio's, the gay police station, or one of the gay-friendly churches? Also, of all the MANY gorgeous embassies in Dupont, you showed the one with the ugliest, most neglected building.
The video talks about the gay community in Dupont, but doesn't really show it. Instead, it shows a store that "obviously caters to a lot of gays" (it doesn't; the owner is homophobic), and then goes jumps a block to a straight bookstore, completely ignoring the HRC's Action Store and the world-famous glbt bookstore, Lambda Rising, both of which are in the same block. Duh? If you want to do a gay travelogue, actually visit some of the gay businesses that gave the neighborhood its ambiance.
Thank you very, very much for this video. My partner and I are going to Washington on holiday next summer and now look forward to the trip even more.
