well done on the capture mate... probably about 8lb but a mint looking fish all the same. My only bit of advice to you tho is invest in an un-hooking mat or at least put the carp on soft grass to un-hook and photograph. That way when you next catch it at 20+ it will still be in such good condition.

jakebromley is a dick, probably even works for PETA, for anyone that is a nice fish, caught a few double figure carp on a cheap pole that cost £8 that i cut back to take an 18 elastic, was fishing pellet, paste and corn on 6lb line and a 14 hook and all the people saying "get a mat" read the description, it says he had one in the post at the time, my biggest is only 16LB but it was a ghost carp, a nice lean fish too, not one of these obese football carp, making carp get obese is real cruelty.

Carp get much larger than that. That fish was nowhere near 15lbs probably closer to 4lbs. I bowfish and shoot 15-20lb fish all the time my largest being around 45lbs. Nice catch though, I have never had much luck rod&reel fishing for them.

Nice fish mate I was like that when i caught mine first over 10lbs, If you want to catch even bigger carp try this feeder method, you have you mainline around 10 lbs then a float stop and a mini swivel just after it then another float stop then have your feeder at the end of your mainline. then off the mini swivel have about 8lbs hook link with a rig sleeve on the start of the hook link. then further down your hook link which is about 10 inch you have your hook. Great Method to catch big carp.

We don't get excited when we pull a huge carp out, we get pissed off because of the possibility it could have been a huge cod or yellowbelly. I started on a pond like that, 7-12lb carp on bread. Never knew "proper" ways of handling them, but learned over the years. I know how it is, hittin that pb, no matter how big or small. With so much excitement, sometimes you forget what you should be doing.
