Distraction is another huge part of consciousness. As an analogy. As i watch this video in my garage on my dirty monitor screen. I see spots of dirt (distraction), but wherever this man in his black shirt vs the white screen appears, i do not see the dirt, my eyes look right through it, i see only the man. So consciousness only perceives what detail is more important to it. If its that easy to look through dirt on my old crt monitor. Then how easy is it to look past what else is prevalent?

but we're getting closer and closer as science progresses.

And just because we aren't 100# sure of everything, That doesn't mean we should just make up some sort of "divine force" to fill in the gaps of our knowledge, because the gaps are getting smaller and smaller all the time

Also, i wouldn't think of the big bang as a "creator", just as an act of nature.

Science neither proves or disproves a "creator" It only gives us answers as to how everything came to be. Just because its not what religion as we know it says it is doesn't mean its only an act of nature.

Also, when people hear the word "creator" it usually (at least in my experience) brings up connotations of a "conscious creator" or a "God"

which is why i like to use more naturalistic terms when talking about the universe to try and avoid confusion.
