@wasevad Recent controversy I came across was a posting of the Cutting Heads duel in Crossroads, Steve Vai is the Devil's protege and falls in competition. The posted comment too issue that it was not blues, and indirectly, it was not meant to be I suppose, it was a clash of styles in effect
@MetallicBill eat players !......I have a few videos on my youtube.Michael is my main influence,I am nowhere near as good as him.I was wondering if you have some extra time if you could check them out and leave me a non-bias opinion,if you can thanks if not thanks anyway !....\m/
@wasevad I have a learning disability and I have real trouble playing guitar but I try by ear and with learned TAB to play things that sound fun and or pleasing. Schenker once said he tried to learn to play with his feet, however, I see on YT someone got that down before Schenker could show his stuff!! The guys impressive as hell!
This does not sound anything like Michael Schenker. He has always had a total distinctive tone to his guitar. and this doesnt even sound like Phil Lynnot on vocals what is this.
It is Schenker and Lynott. I've discovered photos of this gig and made them available to view on the Wild Horses facebook page. The whole bootleg is available to download too.
Thanks! Great story. I agree with you, both brilliant but very different guitarists. Would have beeen interesting to hear EVH's interpretation of 'Rock Bottom', et al...
@ZYVZX I never heard that, mainly UFO members asked to join other notables like Ozzy, However, Ed is like Schenker in that he wants the band to reflect his total guitar dedication and in a band context that means compromise...he's always stated that a solo album EDWARD would be the same as VAN HALEN, but I know it's not just rumor that Ed has tons of tapes that are not officially released
@ZYVZX It is true, Schenker on camera said he turned down band gigs during the MSG solo stages, late 79 onward, just to do what came to him, from the heart, his own music without the democracy of a band
@ZYVZX The bottle? You mean he wasn't up to the task? OK. I like them both but they have 2 totally different styles. Michael is great, Eddie is a GENIUS! Please, no pissing contest. Eddie probably knew he wouldn't last in UFO, especially with Mogg but theire styles of music are totally different. Schenker used to write most of the music so if Eddie joined HE would have written most of it. It would have sounded like VH.
LYNOTT& SCHENKER.I love it,they should have done an entire album.Thats why i'm glad TOMMY BOLIN recorded some of his live stuff, because now people can hear just how great he was.
Up in the loft looking for the tape I did of the whole Concert!! Great "Lost Songs" such as "The Stash", "One Call a Week"! I'll try and post ASAP...Took me way back" Cheers mate
WHERE DID YOU GET THIS?!? At the time this jam happened, my two musical dashboard idols were Phil Lynott (God rest his soul) and ... Michael Schenker, the latter being the player on whom I modeled my style. Thanks a million!
Damn it! Sorry Tibbenham. I hit "remove" instead of "reply". My bad. Thanks for the comment.
This was on The Philip Lynott and Friends 4 Disc Boxset, another bootleg boxset like the Man and His Music series, except that its a lot harder to find. Lynott also does "Are You Ready" with Wild Horses and then Michael Schenker is introduced and thats where this recording begins. If I had a brain, I would have done a little cutting and pasting and put the intro on this track instead. Oh well.
Sounds like a pub band to me

@MrSmokeydog
Then youre just a deaf idiot, considering the amount of posts from people WHO WERE ACTUALLY PRESENT WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
Better listen to it again.
blacksabfan 1 year ago
@blacksabfan Look Man Clarify when this particular performance took place and
then I can understand the actual sound that each band was attempting to deliver
at that point in their career if not this is just sheer bullshit.

@MrSmokeydog It's definitely Lynott, and Schenker wouldn't have had his usual gear - Flying V, Marshall, etc. - at an impromptu jam.
GreenerHill 3 weeks ago
Are Steve Jones and/ or Paul Cook on this?
HenryCovert 1 year ago
@HenryCovert
Not on this, but they did jam many times with Lynott and Bain as the Greedy Bastards.

As a hardcore fan of Phil and Michael this is priceless. Thank you for sharing !

Imagine if Schenker joined Lizzy instead of Snowy White! Gorham and Schenker - that would've been fantastic.

@jimllfaxit Would love to hear a band with Schenker and Moore. How long would it've lasted though? lol

@hanomagrocker We might be getting a Scott Gorham and Viv Campbell assault instead! Might be an announcement tomorrow.

@UliJones i like the story from Phil Mogg of UFO who said Eddie Van Halen talked to him to replace Schenker in UFO when Ed was at his wits end with
David Lee Roth's antics. But even Eddie realized that he didn't have "the bottle" to
take the position. I think Eddie and Schenker are equals in terms of guitar
virtuosity and genius.

@MetallicBill I read that in an interview from here
go to daveling dot co uk doc ufo to find the interview.
Its in the articles section, under classic rock with Hendrix on the cover, ufo words on bottom.
It was actually Paul Raymond who said it, not Phil Mogg.
