My band use to do an M. Hatchet set and I used this pedal to get a good close sound with my 72 Marshall and 87 LesPaul. I do agree though, demonstrate the pedals and gear for everyone, not just the "riff" masters. How about less gain for blues, ect and other settings in between. On the other hand, thanks for the demo's!!

For people thinking of buying this, it is EQ'd a bit more shrill than most pedals I found. I love mine, but it is something you have to EQ your amp for, and then use that as a base for all your other dirt boxes. If you have it set perfectly already and don't want to change your setup, you are probably going to hate this pedal.

@aptematik Your fingers create most of the tone, and the difference between the two pedals won't be large enough to make you sorry you bought one over the other. Generally if you have to ask for help choosing between two pedals, it just isn't gonna matter that much.

@blackmarvel94941 For example, my small amp has only one channel, the clean one, so pedals are pretty useful =) Besides, even high-gain amps are sometimes not high-gain enough, so overdrive and distortion pedals can help =)

I have a Roland cube X20 so everything is built in in my amp. i have distortion, overdrive, metal, metal stad and effects like flanger, chorus, tremolo, phaser, reverb and delay.

I would reccomend everyone a Roland Cube, if you want a new amp for jamming or something.

Distortion is much more "gritty" sounded while overdrive has more of a cleaner sound. Distortion sounds as if it comes from the amp, while overdrive sounds more like the guitar speaking.

Overdrive is somewhat like having the amp turned so high on the volume that the sound "breaks up". A boosted clean signal. Distortion is having a complete change of signals, which results in having no clean tone at all, but usually much more gain.

For the price of this pedal, you can own both the ds-1 and the sd-1!!!!!!!!!

And you can reverse the order of the pedals, cascade them, alter levels, and get better sounds.

The os-2 has an ok overdrive, the distortion is crap-probably worse then the ds-1-dont waste your cash on this one kids.
