@ssnickloc13...I think you have your decades confused. Glam Rock was big from the mid 60s until the mid 70s--its popularity had faded a good 15 years before grunge was introduced.
@chitterzz i thin kmaybe you have your decades confused..glam rock was huge in the 80's..poison, cinderella, motley crue, .just to name a few, glam rock was huge in the 80's
@chitterzz Glam rock existed in the 70's :Bowie, NY Dolls, but glam rock did not become popular until heavy metal, 80's. Glam rock got too "played out", until it got monotonous, then came grunge, and ruined rock, the great metal. Some bands remained, others died out
@chitterzz Honey, I saw the NY Dolls in NYC. /clubs were not so strict with id's back then.Heck, you could party in Washington Square Park w/out problems from the cops. All I know is that in NY, glam existed in the 70's, like I mentioned NY Dolls. In the 80's, there were many "pretty boy" bands that many called "glam rock" that "fed" of heavy metal that really sucked. NY Dolls were awesome! Poison, what some called "glam" sucked!
@1falconeye2 Darling...I concur that the 80s stuff sucked--I've just never heard that genre called 'glam' before, since there is nothing about glam rock that resembled Poison, etc. The music and the physical style are nothing alike so, IMHO, the people that call 80s metal bands 'glam', are misinformed.
Wahlber looks a lot like Myles Kennedy in this scene, funny thing is Kennedy appeared in this film before joining Alter Bridge as the one who joined Izzy on stage.
I also like the fact that they allude to the end of 80s heavy metal and the start of 90s grunge, the fact that they made Chris' band start to Seattle is also a refrence to where grunge music started
I Finally found this Great Movie at FEY Music when I saw that they had it. I grabbed it because I haven't been able to find it anywhere. I also Love Timothy Olyphant the Guitar Player on the left. He's now on TV FX'S Justified
Great movie and a great song!!!! thumbs up....favorite band and movie of all time!!!!!!To all the Rock lovers!!!!!!!!all the music today have no match in music in the 80s like this!!

I love this song, I remember singing it for a talent show at my High School back in 2002. I'm alot older now, but memories that will stay with me forever....
ahhh shit....mark was lip-synced i knew the voice was belong to the lead singer of the verve pipe.....but the way he act was total beautiful! it don't matter to me!~
Mili Matijevic ( Steelheart) wrote and sang "We all die young" for the movie. And yep its Verve Pipe doing "Colorful" Bottom line is that Wahlberg didnt sing any tunes in the movie.
Not sure where the Miljenko Matijevic singing Colorful came from. It is a Verve Pipe song written probably by Brian VanderArk. I could research and copy pasta but I live in West Michigan and have been listening to Mr. VanderArk's music since he played in small bars. I'm pretty confident the track here is his voice. His voice is rather unmistakable. I could be wrong though.
the person singing the songs is Miljenko Matijevic from Steelheart, he sang all Mark Wahlberg's song in the movie, he has a great voice, one of the best metal voices of all time
yes its true he deserves characters more interesting you know???in the happening not was a good character for him,in max payne good he does very well his character and was excellent but the movie suckss,he has a amazing trayectory as actor but its unfare somethings,he deserves something better its true.
love how they transitioned Mark's character from metal to more grundge-like at the end--just like how the music scene changed in the 80's to the 90's...this is such an underrated film
Without a doubt, this is Brian VanderArk singing. I have been listening to him/Verve Pipe for, gosh, 15 years now. Way back when they were just another band in Grand Rapids. Sad they faded away. Brian is easily one of the best singer/songwriters around today. His lyrics are genius.
I love this movie and I like how Mark looks like with that hair, not the long one that he has in most of the film though... And he does a great job lip synching
Just watched the director's commentary: Mark Wahlberg can be found singing at the beginning of the audition for Steel Dragon - but that's it. Another singer is overdubbed when he starts singing the higher, louder notes.
And for those of you who can't tell this is Brian Vander Ark singing 'Colorful' (not Mr Wahlberg) you are clinically deaf.
this is really good...awesome...you won't notice the lipsynch stuff at first...anyways i need HELP...big time...where can i find steel dragon's desperate hearts song lyrics...please...
What are you talking about? At first I thought he was actully singing. I think he did a great job with his lipsynching. Plus he's a fantastic actor. Can't go wrong about that.
no Mark Wahlberg doesnt sing any songs in this movie, Mark Wahlberg is a crappy singer but thats fine he is an actor and a damn good one at that. This is The Verve Pipe but Mark needs to put more passion in lip syncing....that way its more believable.
Wahlberg does NONE of the singing in this movie or for the soundtrack. The singing is done by Miljenko Matijevic of Steeherat and Jeff Scott Soto, who sang with metal groups and even Journey at one point. No coincidence that you've never heard Markie Mark sing like this before or after this movie.

Actually,Zakk Wylde wrote all of the Steel Dragon material and he even starred as the rythem guitarist. As for the singing, I believe it is Steel Heart's vocalist. But it was a nice twist for the first 4 years everyone believing it was Whalberg singing, he's a good actor.
all the songs were wrote by different people, the person that does the vocals was the lead singer of steelheart in the 80s, zakk plays the guitar player in the move(no those aren't his tattoos)
Honestly...what kind of a FUCK HEAD would let Jennifer Aniston go???...especially just for Jolie???...Aniston is far and away the hottest WOMAN(CHICK)on the planet!!!...
