  • "you want moar coffe?"

  • Don Rickles is a fucking champion

  • Who's sitting next to Phyllis Diller? Not Freddie, the other side.

  • Dionne Mrs. Warrick was a LoOker.

  • I think Sammy hit the nail on the head with his closing.

  • Thanks for sharing this video with the world. We need to show today's youth that

America was once the home of free speech, and people weren't easily offended.

They didn't yell "hate speech" every time something controversial or outlandish was spoken. This was the age of fearless comedy, before the government and public schools turned the population into a bunch of spineless, apologetic cowards.

  • yes

  • I love Don Rickles but I think it would take about 5 minutes before I decked him ... lol ...

  • @JediDude38 i had trouble with Don Rickles. I just don't think he is funny.

  • Dean is wasted.

  • Can you imagine the media hysteria if that comment at 3:45 were broadcast? The world has gone off the cliff. THIS was the goods, and it DIDN'T have an adverse effect on my generation.

  • Sammy Davis Jr. was the best, R.I.P. Sammy!

  • How drunk is DEan?

  • Sammy converted to Judaism - He was one of the first black Jewish celebrities...

  • Never see this today--the talent isn't there and everyone would be offended

    So much for "Progress".

I'll go back to '69-'72 anytime....

  • damn, that's just so liberating.

  • SAMMY DAVIS WAS ALL CLASS

  • Prinze killed himself in 77. Must not have been too long after this...

  • 'the day they don't make fun of you, is the day they don't give a damn about you' well said Sammy, today no-one is allowed to joke about anything - everyone just wants to get one over each other or hurt each other

  • listen to what sammy says at the end...to all those people who cry rasicm when they watch these clips...listen to sammy..he tells you exactly why its love and not racism. if you wont listen to anybody else, then listen to sammy.

  • Stuebenville, OH, Why thats better???

  • This is embarrassing "entertainment"

  • You dont see comedy like this anymore, I'm 20 and i love the old Dean Martin roasts.

  • @sexyangelstarr I'm 19 and never in my life have I laughed so hard watching Mr. Don Rickles.

  • @bobthefreak09 The wonderful joy of knowing you can say ANYTHING.

    .

Those days have passed. Maybe, just maybe, they will come again as Politically Correct runs its course.

    .

Hyphenated-American has no meaning, because there is no "ethnic" American. Everyone is "hyphenated" one way or another.

    .

    So laugh.

  • Sammy's wife Altovise was really stunning in this! Now they're together in Heaven. Awww!!

  • Good old time humor. I love Don

  • Dean Martin is WASTED

  • Everyone there is SO fucked up. Listen to Dean at the beginning.

  • Wasn't he married to a white woman?I don't know why I remember him on a photo with one.

  • @JRRDPR Sammy? Yeah he was married to May Britt but they divorced. Altovise is the wife he was married to until the day he died.

  • @JRRDPR Hey he married May Britt but dated Kim Novak

  • donn is funny and sammys amazing :D

  • All of them are gone now except don rickles bless his heart! I think God likes don rickles and knows he is doing more to bring people together than he appears to be. Who do we have now that are Great comedians and classy entertainers like Sammy and Dean? No one! None! Nada! Finitto! Done! Over and out! Don't look back! Finne! Ciuso! The End!

  • Do you know that she truly loved him! He did have to put up with a lot in order to express his talents and to remain in a predominately Jew bastard industry with then all white racists. I guess that's why an africian was forced to become a Jew?

  • wow Sammy's wife is such a stunning woman. It brought a tear to my eye watching how affectionate those two are with each other :)

  • Don>"right sam?" Sam >" right," Don >" R U Crazy? " loooool im black but i have to laugh this is comedy at its purest form un edited,no holds barred, ppl should see this is only comedy !

  • As Dirty Harry says, Its Cause People today are @ssholes, and are out for a free payday and a meal ticket. and want you to be there welfare system!!.........Comedy was clean then, And all those talents loved each other and had a bond like know other. Never will there be talent on TV like then again!

  • Comedy was clean in this time. Isn't it odd that in a time of racial unrest everyone was able to make fun of it so easily and make it so hilarious? Whereas today in our time of "tolerance and understanding" slurs like these would get someone sued?

  • What happened to these happier times? Everyone lives in a world of offence and sensitivity now, sadly. Great, hilarious post.

  • Wasn't it Dean Martin who carried Sammy on stage in Vegas and announced to the audience that this (Sammy) is my trophy from the NAACP? It brought the house down.

  • Wilt does not look amused lol

  • Is that Dionne Warwick at 6:01?

  • Yes it is. She mentioned that she dated Sammy at one time.

  • @gaiusscipio Yes, and she's rarely looked lovelier.

  • Where was Sinatra?

  • Oh for the days when a white man could make jokes about blacks right in front of them and they were forced to laugh because if they didn't THEY would be thought the racist!!!!

  • They were not FORCED to laugh!!!!

They actually found that funny (is that relly hard to believe)They were open minded, not like today!!

Today the black people are SUPERSTRESSED in what concerns racism - they get offended by everything (literally everything) a white man says!!!

Its like Don said Bigotry is taken too seriously - relax because black people use racial slurs towards white people and nobody makes a scandle of it!!!

  • wow the legends.....don rickles, dean martin, nipsy russell, dionne warwick, wilt chamberlain, milton berl, freddie prince, the man of the hour sammie davis jr.........wow do time past us by. live your life to the fullest!

  • what year was this?

  • 1974

  • remember these aren't just strangers insulting each other. These are hand-picked entertainers who are friends of the guest of honor. Their barbs are for entertainment.

  • All these men and women had great respect for each othe,r even though it seems they cut each other down. They were the GREATS that will never be repeated judging from the nasty vulgur Roasts of today which 95% aren't funny. The only funny Roast in the modern era was Jerry Stiller's Roast a few years ago when Jason Alexander was host and sang a wonderful funny song.

  • half of them are drunk, half holds cigarete on TV(!) and all make politically incorect jokes, where is the time gone??..

  • These guys are timeless, every last one. The roasts today don't even come close. Real entertainers from the word go these guys & gals.

  • You are so right with your comment. ( Sorry about your long stay on the Island) lol You can see the love and respect that they had for you another. Make Black jokes, make white jokes, it didn t mean a thing. It was true, it was funny. But they supported one another. Frank Sinatra wound not play the Sands until they allowed Sammy Davis to come throught the front door of the lounge. Now that s Civil Rights. More important. That s love for your fellow man.

  • white people were cold blooded back in the day lol!!!!!

  • lolll relax its a comedy show. besides racism nowadays is evens stronger than it used to be.

  • lol...Man, I love Don....lol I'm a goofy black man...love great entertainers..lol

  • Man, this is so much better than a lot of the roasts nowadays.... All of these great entertainers together in one room, with actual intelligent humor... And my generation gets stuck with the Roast of Flava Flav. What a joke.

At least I can watch these and enjoy them, even if I couldn't be there at the time to watch them originally ^_^

  • Was Dean Martin drunk on tv most of the time? that's frickin awesome

  • According to most accounts I've read, it's all an act. Deano was imbibing in apple juice and just playing the part of the drunk guy. Either way, he was funnier than hell.

  • I grew up with these guys. So much talent, and friendship. Such fantastic entertainers. I wish there was more of the original Rat Pack (not the impersonators!) on the 'Tube!

  • Where was Frank Sinatra? Was he too good to come for Sammy? Perhaps he was just moody that day or was it that he knew he could not sing as well as Sammy? Nor act? Nor dance? Sammy was AND IS THE GREATEST ENTERTAINER OF ALL TIME! YES, MORE MULTI TALENTED THAN MICHAEL JACKSON, OR SINATRA. SAMMY DID NOT HAVE A RACIST BONE IN HIS THIN BODY! GOD BLESS YOU SAMMY! YOU OPENED THE DOOR FOR ALL THE BLACKS - THEY SHOULD HONOR YOU AT EVERY GATE! WE LOVE YOU, ANDY & FAMILY (WHITE GUY)

  • But i tell ya dis..................

  • This would NEVER get on TV these days....what a shame

  • i always envied how these stars loved each other and showed it through humor and genuine love

  • freddie prinz died much too young so sad..

  • The ending WAS really touching!

What a great bunch of entertainers!!!!

  • The last part is very emotional

  • Very emotional the last part when Sammy is grteful to Dean and you can see the expressoin in Dean´s and his face. May Allah let them find each other in Paradise.

  • HAHAHAHA!!! ... and i want altovise's dress :)

  • They certainly knew MUCH BETTER how to enjoy yourself at an event when everybody is ridiculed.I love how the audience laughs so hard.

  • damn dean was fucked up drunk!

  • "The day they don't make fun of you, they don't give a damm a bout you!"

classic words, from a classic man......Sammy Davis, Jr.

    where was Sinatra?

  • During most of the 1970s, Sammy was involved with elements Sinatra hated - especially cocaine which was Sammy's drug of choice.

After a decade or so on the outs, Frank and Sammy's wives reunited them for dinner. After promising to give up coke for good, Sammy and Frank hugged and made up.

They celebrating by getting drunk for a day!

  • galaxy of talent...a time when we could make fun of each other and people laughed and enjoyed the moment...sadly we wont see their kind again

  • The Candyman!

  • wait a second, did i just hear Phillis Diller?

  • "i kind sammy...you're a black man...i took a guess" haha "you want more coffee?" haha man wish comedians could still be as funny as this....no PC bullshit

  • is Sammy's wife still alive??

  • Actually, she passed a way a few weeks ago.

  • now i feel bad for asking that question srry

  • How did she die?

  • Stroke.

  • who please?

  • "you ain't black, you fell into a bucket of M&M's, I'll tell you that" hahahahahahaha

  • watch mr wonderfull on HULU

  • amazing documentary

  • To Sammy and Altovise, reunited.

    The greats are going fast.

  • Altovise Davis Passed away this weekend 3/15/09 from complications from a stroke in Hollywood California.

    RIP Sammy and Altovise...together again

  • Sammy Davis Jr. Was the Greatest!! We miss you Sammy

  • Take a look at that dais. Who'd have guessed Freddie Prinze would have been the FIRST to die?

  • You wouldn't get away with saying some of the stuff he said now, and its a bloody shame, this world is too politacaly correct, so correct it makes it wrong.

  • Oh and yes sir !!!!!!!and Dean loved Sammy more than will all ever know!!! 2 great Guys!!!!

  • Sammy loved Dean!! They were so good together

  • Love what he says at the end about friends joking on each other...Soooo true..

  • Rickles the Ultimate in insult comedy LMAO, Nobody did it better.

  • LMAO!!!!!!!

  • Mr. Warmth himself. Rickles ALWAYS offends and is still funny
