I hear everyone talking about how good these new songs are and how bad the The Smashing Pumpkins were from 2007 to 2010 but to be honest I thought Zeitgeist, American Gothic, If All Goes Wrong, The 20th Anniversary Tour, and Teargarden were damn good. Yes there were a few weak tracks but overall those LPs and Eps kicked ass (especially Zeitgeist and American Gothic) and if don't understand those LPs and EPs you don't understand The Smashing Pumpkins.

honestly, i billy owatacizes this one ill be really upset, oceania has great potential. but if he makes it all happy and synthy im downloading these live versions off youtube and making that my album. great song though.

@pefieldhockey7 I honestly hope the studio versions keep this quality and not be overproduced and oversynthesized as well. The songs from Teargarden have been pretty disappointing for the most part with Owata and Widow Make My Mind being some of the worst songs they ever did. This is much more promising.

I see Corgan has decided to return to what people want and the style which sold 10s of millions of pumpkins albums in the 90s. Yeah for the past few years he's been trying to push something different onto us but we haven't been biting so he realized enough is enough, don't want to ruin the pumpkins completely so time to pull those Gish and Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie albums out and scrub up on what pumpkins music is supposed to sound like.

You are basically saying that Billy should simply learn his place, stay exactly who he is as the way you first knew him, and throw out all his liberty in exploring various musical aspects he has yet to encounter? It now seems all the more evident that the musicians that we loved, who bled on stage and lived through psychologically malicious labor to make a name for themselves, have no right to find new grounds.

@fatriff What bothers me the most is that under your perspective he was "ruining" the pumpkins? The "pumpkins" that you're thinking of was never ruined. They BROKE UP 11 years ago. This is Billy reinterpretation of the Smashing Pumpkins concept, the concept he created and carried every right to decide where it will go. It's nice that you like the new stuff though, I personally like it not because it sounds like old pumpkins, but because it's great music coming from talented artists.
