I didn't know that it mattered greatly how a goal was scored, but let's work with your theory. CR has 10/10 penalties this season, Messi has 2/3, at that rate he would have missed 2 more time had he taken 10 penalties, but that being a hypothetical, we can ignore it.
That is a big difference. The stats are not a perfect indicator of course but it’s more an indicator than anything else. Ronaldo was getting much more service than Messi last season.
Secondly, you know people don’t see it or if they do they don't comment on it but Ronaldo gets a lot of help to put up the stats he does. Not that Messi doesn't get help but play a highlight reel of Ronaldo's goals last season and this season and just see how many goals are tap-ins and penalties. The majority of them, meaning they are served up to him on a plate. Everyone goes on about Iniesta and Xavi being the reason that Messi scores so many goals, the thing is, it's not ture.
The answer is pretty simple to me, it's Messi. Firstly because he is a striker, a No.10, a winger and an attacking midfielder all rolled into one. Ronaldo is a striker, he's not even really a winger anymore. People who say Ronaldo is more 'complete' well I say stick him in central midfield and we'll see how complete he is.
If Ronaldo happens to break La Liga's goal scoring record again (which belongs to him already) and win the League with Real Madrid this season and Messi still gets the FiFA Ballon D'Or again, we can all be sure that FiFA and UEFA are just some illegally paid scumbags...

The answer is pretty simple to me, it's Messi. Firstly because he is a striker, a No.10, a winger and an attacking midfielder all rolled into one. Ronaldo is a striker, he's not even really a winger anymore. People who say Ronaldo is more 'complete' well I say stick him in central midfield and we'll see how complete he is.

Another thing: Messi reached his peak last season. He was incredible! but his body just shows he can't do much more than that. Still it's fucking impressive! But Ronaldo is like a good bottle of wine! Years pass and pass & he gets better, faster, stronger, more dangerous, more intelligent in the game... Only when both players end their careers we can tell who is the best, but I bet on Ronaldo. I'm not a Ronaldo fan-boy, in fact I also like Messi. But in the end - hard work always pays off. And we all know who that is.
Funny thing is: REAL LEGENDS are never compared to any other player. fact. They are unique. So how come people constantly keep comparing Messi to Maradona, but can't find comparison for Ronaldo? Think about it. Messi has more titles at the moment, but in the end we will see!

i think the big difference is that messi can perform under pressure, while ronaldo cannot. for example, messi has scored in 2 champions league finals. ronaldo missed a pk in semis AND finals when man u won. also, ronaldo misses countless chances against barca, while messi scores a ton of goals against madrid. (the copa del rey goals that the incompetent pinto somehow contrived to let in being the exception)
