  • Tucked arabian saulto.... no wonder it's an F

  • i am in love with the worley !!!

  • great montage

Is there any chance you could do one about tumbling passes on floor?

  • awesome!!!! also, what's the music?

  • can you please upload a tumbling pass guide ?

  • I just realized that the first song is one of the ones we're singing in choir!

  • What would a khorkina (floor move) to straddle on beam or khorkina (floor move) with only .5 instead of 1.5 into forward walkover be called?

  • 5.401 is actually named after Mostepanova, MostepanovaFan

  • @MrJST94

    little correction,

she only did it before Onodi did it :$.

  • 3:28 I kid yall not, the words, "OOOOO SHIT!" Came out of my mouth instantly... O.O How on earth did that girl do that! Elvire Teza that is...

  • @omegalavender I know right?? That's a good way to break your ribs.

  • 3:28 I kid yall not, the words, "OOOOO SHIT!" Came out of my mouth instantly... O.O How on earth did that girl do that! Elvire Teza that is

  • wow!!! you rock!!!!!!

  • Thanks for putting Koko's Onodi as an example. I love the way she does her Onodi!

  • I noticed the Kolesnikova in this video did not have the 1/2 turn after Pavlova's hands were placed. Is the 1/2 turn required in the skill?

  • I can bearly do a handstand let alone this lets just say i wont being going into gymnastics :)

  • iv been doing gymnastics with 3 years this year and i loovee it ....if i could do any of these on the floor id be seriously proud of myself!!....not to mind the beam!! haha

  • Tht was amazing u did a good job in finding those clips and putting tht vid together

  • what is the difference between a flic flac and a handspring?

  • @bunbacheso Nothing, it's just different terms for the same move. Some people like to call a handspring step-out a flic flac, though. Others make no distinction/

  • @bunbacheso I think handspring can mean both forwards or back but flic flacs normally mean back.

  • only one G skill........

  • Why is nobody doing the Kochetkova anymore? It's such a cool skill when performed correctly, especially by the originator.

  • Is the tucked arabian salto named after anyone?

  • 3:52 - 3:57 and 3:27 - 3:33.

    nearly.

    peed.

    my pants.

  • I thought a Tinsica had different hand placement than a front walkover (hands to the side as in a cartwheel rather than hands facing forward)

  • that stupid sideward roll tucked by natalia shaposhnikova should not be worth a B..... anyone can do that, its stupid that it's even in the code let alone in an ACROBATIC beam guide

  • @bbhouk1 You're right!! Thats not worth that much it should be an A or TA!

  • @Lydineetjuh

    agreed

  • could you possibly do an updated version of this video?

some of the moves have been "reconsidered" and been placed differently,

like a front walkover is now a 'B' skill, like a handstand forward roll

    (:

  • what is the second song?! i lovvee it

  • WHAT IS THE SECOND SONG??? i love it

  • some of these are crazy!!!

  • isnt a flic flac just a backhandspring?

  • @AlmightyOwl yes but thats what they call it, like have you ever heard the compulsery music wth someone talking? on the final pass they always say flic flac

  • @AlmightyOwl yea

  • is zhang xia deng linlin's coach?

  • the tuck side salto is called side summi

  • @Mrmartinnico LOL, salto and somi are actually from one word, somersault!! They refer to the same thing :-)

  • Great montage. What the name of the music?

  • holy crap i thought the hardest level was E!! i didnt know they went up to f & g!!

  • isn't the one at 2:38 an an onodi?

  • @hockeygirl789

    yeah that's what it says

  • she was so amazing , i have the film ..x

  • if you do a lay-out step-out, lay-out step-out on beam, are both of the elemnets acredited??????

  • No, you can only count an element once towards your D score, although you could get the .1 connection bonus for it (.2 if you did three in a row).

  • 3.54, 5.308 looks fantastic!! I luv it but hey, I would like to know those songs?? Tell meeeee

  • Finally !!!!

    It's

    1.- LAKMÉ/THE FLOWER DUET

    2.- STILL WATER

    from MAKSIM MRVICA

  • SOOOOOO glad you posted this I have been searching for the names of those moves for centuries!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU are a LIFE SAVER!!!!

  • actually both the songs would be nice.

  • whats the first song again? i know its a remix version of it. do you know what it's called?

  • Do you plan to remake this for 2010, or will you just put the changes in the information box?

  • Is there a reason there's no standing full? Is there no difference between that and the tucked back-salto performed here by Nistor?

  • @QueenieQue The code makes no distinction between skills done from a stand and skills done out of a combination. It should be noted that by connecting a back handspring to a tuck back full (or any F or G skill), you would gain a .2 in connection bonus.

  • haha! i was thinking the same thing! Peszek, Johnson, Gutsu (and some others, I'm sure) deserve a skill to call their own!!

  • Are you sure about Severino's skill being a round off? Seems just a aerial cartwheel landed on 2 feet to me...

  • It's a free aerial round-off, like the video says.

  • I'm confused about 5.611 and 5.514. What's the difference?

  • 5.611; first comes the somersault and than the twist

5.514; first the twist and than the somersault

  • Can someone pleassseee tell us what is the second song?? It is so beautiful that it hurts.

  • Can you still do a 4 skilled aerial pass.

  • @jovani2293 If you mean the back handspring into three layout stepouts then yes but you wouldn't get much for it because in the old code (I know in 1996 it was this way) three layout stepouts were considered an E element and there was a connection bonus. In the new code, you would only get credit for one layout stepout and no connection bonuses.

  • Not the same way, but Catalina Ponor did a 5-skill aerial pass in 2006: Onodi+front aerial walkover+back handspring 1/1+back handspring stepout+layout 2-foot.

  • I was just about to type that! hehe

  • @Hasoginy Hi, the tune sounds like a re-mix adn slower version of 'I will survive' (chorus) - thats what I think.

  • @Hasoginy

    Still Water by Maksim Mrvica

  • this may be stupid, but why is it more difficult to take off from two feet than from one?

  • Beacause u can't use ur other foot for swing or purchase.

  • Because when you take off from one foot you can swing your body and leg in the direction you want, thus, creating momentum for the skill. When you take off from two feet the only way you can get power is from the bending in your legs and arms or from punching into skills.

  • Where's the Liukin and Memmel?

  • Side Aerial Cartwheel on beam is a C in the 2008-2009 code of points and I believe in the new 2009-2010 code it is a C also

  • btw, I cant find the aerial cartwheel..? XD

  • hey i'm a little confused, what is a front aerial worth these days, i know in the video it says that its worth a D but people are saying in the comments that its only worth a C or a B, does anyone know for sure?

  • why didnt u hav that cool airbesk one footed thing that nastia does?

  • it isn't 1 skill anymore in the new CoP.

    it's a front aerial and a scale, so 2 different skills ^^

  • @missmouse35 Changes in the 2009–2012 FIG Code of Points meant that the skill is no longer considered as an appropriate skill.

  • @Manutdcailin Does that mean that we'll no longer see the skills performed?

  • @Logansbl People can still do it but it is not 1 skill anymore!!

  • Nice video. In my gymnastics, we do front and backwalkovers on the beam, cartwheels, handstands, roundoffs, and leaps

  • greart video! would love to see it updated though for the current code. A free aerial is no longer a D its a C

  • Front or cartwheel?

  • i have almost all ur vids in my faves

  • is it possible to do an aerial onodi?

    just wondering..

  • I'm not sure, but I'll add that to the list of skills I want to do someday XD

  • I don't think. Either way it probably wouldn't look to nice. But hey, who knows, it could be named after you one day.

  • I'm sure someone has tried... You could be the first to compete it.

  • I doubt it, I've seen a beautiful gainer onodi. I believe an aerial onodi would be an arabian layout stepout like they used to do on floor in the 70's.

  • thanks for your guides, I learned a lot from them !

and also from your routine guide, I finally understand the UB scores ^^

  • I've really learnt a lot about elite level gymanstics through your guides and about scoring, now I can watch routines and understand why athletes are scored the way they are not cry blasphemy everytime I see a low score for a routine, The new judging code is a step in the right direction after all and I'm waiting for an athlete to score 17. :-)

  • and i always thought a valdez was an A =/. did this recently change, or was a told wrong?

  • i have a question: has a front walkover always been an A? I always thought it was a B =/

  • Hah - I never realised that the side roll in Shawn's routine was actually coded.

I thought it was just choreography!

    Thanks for these guides!

  • me too! :]

  • may i know what is the second song?

  • Just wondering, is the onodi to tic toc in the code? I do remember seeing someone do it once.

  • Nice vid!!

  • isnt that the 1st song is the flower duet by delibes??

  • love kui yuanyuan's beam work

  • what's the name of the 2nd song and the composer?

  • Comment removed

  • It says Vera Cerna not Vera Caslavska

  • sorry i misread it.

  • wooooh.. nice!

what's the name of the gymnast who preforms a back walkover with support on one arm?

  • It says it right there....its cathy rigby

  • the roll without hands is a B

  • thank u!

  • duudee!! the Teza is a crazy skill! i wouldnt it for my life. id probably end up hitting my head really hard on the beam

  • Yes, that's probably the most difficult E level skill along with the swith ring.

  • Not all the skills are in this video, can it be?

  • what about the 3/4 turn to yurchenko svetlana does that same with ykaterina lobyunuyk

  • What about the Liukin???

  • i think it should be called NISTOR

  • No Nastia so did it first. She came up with it and did it at the Olympics so it's rightfully hers

  • Why shouldn't we just call it a free walk over to arabesque?

  • But Nastia performs it in piked position =D

  • can you tell me the time?

  • that is what the side roll tucked looks like?? i had no idea i saw it in the code and didnt think i had veer seen it before

  • thank you SO much! im writing a story about a gymnast and i REALLY needed this! ;))) LOLZ

  • I don't understand the difference between 04:58 and 06:05. They look really similar but I guess the Grigoras is harder?

  • The difference is pretty minimal. The grigoras is supposed to by a front tuck with a half turn out of it, whereas the maaranen is a half twist straightaway into a back tuck. I personally think they should be worth the same since they are so similar

  • yeah chellsie memmel used to have trouble with the front half(F), she kept getting credited with doing a produnova(E) instead. of today's gymnasts jana bieger does it the cleanest.

  • what's the second song called? it's so pretty

  • the pike side salto was actually performed by proskurina, not koval yo :).

  • Is there an H level skill?

  • No, but some of the ones that are valued at G have the same skill performed with an extra full twist, and it's still a G.

  • Does anyone know the name of the second tune? It's so music box .... sounds like something that one would use for a ballet.

  • Is it possible to do a front flip with a full twist on beam?

  • no ones done it yet

  • Wat about the Liukin? When she does a front layout salto and lands on one leg. I think its a salto but I am not sure lol

  • Actually, she does it "piked" (its usually closer to tucked). the new COP does NOT list saltos to scales as one element - they just receive .1 in connection, and must be true saltos (as in, no more front aerials to scale, or onodi to scale)

  • That's such a bummer. An onodi to scale (a true scale) has got to be one of the most gorgeous moves on the beam. It's sad that point-wise it may not be worth the risk because of the new COP.

  • The skill is named after her in the code of points but the FIG recognizes the skill as a combonation

  • No. This is actually a free aerial walkover, that is a B, and then one more free aerial walkover in a scale position (2s) that is a D.

    :)

  • I meant , that was the Liukin connection as mentioned before, she ends the movement in a scale position, i don`t think so she is the first one to perform that... is She?!

  • May I request an UB pirouettes montage?

  • anyone know why full-twisting back pike salto is not in the code? I know Amy Chow used to do it.

  • you have to do it at a worlds or olympics and hand in paperwork. guess she didn't do one of those. but regardless there'd be no point, a full twisting back tuck is already a G.

  • actually its an F. the layout is a G, so I wonder what they would put pike as (my guess is F)

  • opps my bad. mostly they put tucked and picked moves as the same difficulty so i agree it'd be an F.

  • When in the code, it was an F

  • thanx!! ;-)

  • thats amazing work ! where did you get these videos ? Answer please

  • Beautiful Mostepanova fan!! I guess you're aware of the Garrison layout performed at the AYOF by Sasada. It's a G. Amazing!!

  • what's the second song?

  • Thanks for this! So helpful to have these examples, and to see elements side-by-side. Thanks!!

  • seriously what is the name of the song cause i really want to use this as my floor music?

  • what is the sing called? i love i. ive herd it before and i know it's originally classical.

  • i meant for both the songs #1 and 2

  • Where do you get all these wonderful pieces of music for your montages.

  • I liked that you put Laschenova for the layout on 2 feet. She was usually so confident on this skill that everytime I see somebody else doing that I immediately remember of her for comparision.

  • ditto!

  • Grrrr... I wish you hadn't used Nistor's back 1/1 as the example for that skill. She totally cheats the entry (takes off from a side 1/4 position).

I commend you for putting this together, though. It's very educational for the people unfamiliar with the names of skills and their values. Excellent job.

  • I totally agree.

  • ActualLy, it is "Annamari". But big thanks to you, MostepanovaFan, for this and other CoP-videos! These are far more informative than those stick figures in the CoP-book.--

  • you spelled one name wrong=) it's Anna-Mari Maaranen

  • What's the music?

  • Very impressive and thorough work. Your dedication is quite apparent. Good on you!

  • The Rulfova and the Teza just scare me every time. I hate to think what happens if the gymnast misses. Great skills - but very dangerous.

  • Beautiful music. Awesome vid.

  • a front walkover is a B

  • Love the video! Nice to know the names of things that commentators sometimes throw in. The music is wonderful... what pieces did you use? The first one sounds so familiar but I can't quite place it!

  • this will help me ALOT!!!!!im a ten yr. old gymnast but I learn how to do skills by watching other people preform them.I used 2 love beam but ever since last week im not 2 sure...I tried 2 do a switch leap, but I stradled and hit the middle of the beam.

  • this is great!! could you make one for the jumps/turns etc?

  • Thanks so much for this! I love watching gymnastics, but I don't always understand what I'm seeing. This cleared up a lot.

Could you make these for other apparatus too?

  • Can you remake montages of your favorite beam workers, vault, etc again? Why did they become removed?

  • My account got deleted :( I'm trying to get my old videos back up, I will probably remake my favourites montages again, they need updating :)

  • what happened to stephthemagicdragon?

  • that was awesome..any chance you could do dismounts and other events?

  • I can make a dismount one and some other event ones, they take a while to do though as I have to try and track down some of the obscure moves :)

  • thats fine with me. that would be awesome by the way!

  • loved it!!!
