This song has some amazing lyrics (evry one of them words rang true, and glowed like burning coals...), but I'm not sure if I really understand how the singer changes from one character to the other, there's a total jump in perspective. And the end "We always did feel the same, we just saw it from a diffrent point of view..."
This, the "original" version (studio version), is one Dylan's finest moments. And, as it's often been said, he has had many. Along with Smokey Robinson and a (very) few others, THE great poets of modern America. Enough cannot be said for this man and his music.
This song reminds me of my husband's & I relationship. When we first met I was married, soon to get a divorce. All was great and then we became Tangled up & Blue. Off he wandered to his next destination, but we still talk now & then. I think we are still Tangled Up & Blue 27 yrs later. The follow-up song is "Cat in the Cradle" after he wasn't always around, now his 3 adult children have no time for him...life is full of songs...
@klejackson: "Old Man Again"; Dylan gave us words and rythems that we live by. I have never NOT been "Tangled Up In Blues" with 5 kids 18 to 42, and an incredible discust for the woman who I shared these children with. And my kids are still Tangled... But they all have MY love, and cling to their Daddy... What music offers us is the safe reflective place to think, to remember, and to revel in our lives.. You are so right, "Life is Full of Songs"....
@NJBOYW Thanks for your reply, Bob Dylan has always been a fav, of mine since Elementary School. His music has brought so much joy & sadness to my life, but like you said...it looks like we are both Tangled Up & Blue. My kids are 21 -28, two still at home, I love them dearly, but I can see them as being Tangle Up & Blue, due to father not being there for them. We are still friends, but I hate seeing his children being hurt, by his absence in their lives. I guess somethings never change.
@spigelian52 "Soon to be divorced. I helped her out of a jam I guess, but I used a little too much force. We drove that car as far as we could, abandoned it out west. Split up on a dark, sad night both agreeing it was best."
@spigelian52 agreed only bob knows what he means in his ramblings, he would probably say it dosnt matter like evreything else. the man has the best attitude on life ever
VERY Many Thanks for this Fabulous version of Dylan's Legendary Tangled up in Blue, now I'm Looking for Idiot Wind, from maybe the same album? All I can find so far is live stuff, ok but not like the album version. Thanks Again! from the old Vet who request this.
@blujufirst Are you talking about the one off of the bootleg series? I will change the description of the video but I just meant the first studio version by Dylan on youtube. Thanks!
@blujufirst absolutely true....the slower tempo really does add to the magic of this tune... and the open tuning aspect of it is subtle but still important...good catch man!
この曲はディランにしか作れない。最高の名曲だ。

Tangled up in blue, Like a rolling stone, Idiot wind. Dylan's best, all together define my life. I'll see her again when I hit the road.

I would love to sing this song, but you just can't. It's too personal. Only Bob can sing this, no one else would dare.

Written by an Italian poet
From the thirteenth century
And every one of them words rang true
And glowed like burnin' coal
Pourin' off of every page
Like it was written in my soul from me to you
my fave part of that song if i could write like that i would write it for you
