same with me i am training merrylegs an arabian and she loves to speed over the jumps shes 7 a dapple grey and im practically the only one who ride her ! i've been riding for 6 years and she is my best friend !
hey hottopic4ever haha so im stuck again, i stopped using bricks and now i can get him to trop over the jump but he does actually jump it and i dont know how to teach him to actually jump, and i cant get him up to more then a trot when im lunging him so im sort of in a difficult position with training him.. please help =]
because if he's pretty young, he might just need some time to understand and he'll jump when he feels comfortable enough
also, it depends on the fence's height, your pony might just be smart enough not to jump it because he knows it is not high enough to waste his energy jumping it...
i think he is about 16 but i have not had him all his life i was told her was just a year older then me which would be 14 but i highly dought that lol umm it is only little and he understands that he must go over it he just doesnt jump lol
if it's little and considering that your pony isn't young I can understand why he wouldn't bother putting energy in the jumping if it doesn't require him to do so you know ??
well done! you have the most gorgeous pony! im just training stubborn welsh pony gelding to jump lol im just using bricks but i need you advice. everytime he goes up to the jump he eithers stops in front of it swerves around it or just steps over it. can you please help? well done once again
My advice would be to be firm with your legs (without kicking) when you feel like he hesitates and when he swerves around it turn around as quickly as possible and jump again until he understands what you are asking him to do and then when he does, be very generous in your rewards , I'm no professional, that's just what I'll do and I know it's hard to deal with it because those little ponies are so stubborn, but with a lot of patience, you'll make it !!
By bricks i hope you don't mean actual bricks are ur jump! When teaching a horse to jump you should start with a wooden pole flat on the ground then after at least a week of trotting and cantering over that raise it a little using cavaletti or if ur really stuck bricks on each side so that if the horse knocks it it will just fall to the ground and not hurt the horse ... pls be careful using bricks is soo not a good idea...Sorry if this offends you
No No it doesnt offend me at all.. Thanks heaps if anyone has advice please just post it lol i do not want to injure my horse and im very new to training him at jumping so anything will help, meink09 thank you once again
Aw. How come she doesn't want you to ride her anymore? You looked like you were doing great with her. But congrats on getting a horse of your own! That's awesome. I'll be looking forward to the video you make of her. =)
Awh. What a sweet little pony, with a cute name to top it off. =) You look like you're doing a fabulous job with her. Keep it up! Great pair. Great video. ;D
Thank you soomuch !! ^^ I am so sorry for you and Spy !! but I am lucky because I am gonna start working at the stables where she is to pay for my lessons so I'll be able to ride her more !! :)
Thanks for my comment! Thought I'd return the favour!
Like Merrylegs, Spy isn't my pony, I looked after him as the girl wasn't interested anymore, however I didn't have the time and arranged for him to go on loan, but the owners wouldn't let him go, so he's stuck down at a yard with no horses and no field :( It broke my heart so I don't see him any more.
is he or she dead if he or she is im sorry
