  • It was always heck dragging the balloon fabric back to a streamer to put it away....not good for the fabric I'm sure when on asphalt or weeds. Have you ever tried putting the basket on the back of a truck and driving out from underneath the envelope as it deflates?

  • @micfishevyt You've never crewed, have you?

  • @ksbear2 I have for years. That's why I asked. The pop top balloons I crewed for in New Mexico usually did it like this, but it is hard to gather the fabric without use of the cownline. There was a guy in Florida many years ago (he wrote and illustrated a book called The Art of Hot Air Ballooning, I think) who gave me the idea of driving out the basket from the deflating pop top. I've only seen it done in real life once though. Pop tops are great for strong winds, but a hassle in no wind.

  • @micfishevyt Thanks for the answer. Like you, I crew, but I've only seen an Adams pop top at one rally. But you notice in this video, the crown line is released before the top is pulled. I thought it was a little strange myself. I'll stick to Camerons, Ravens, TBW's and Lindstrands, I guess. Oh - and one National.

  • Great Video!!! Mike Adams was very revolutionary for his time!!!!

  • @kc9lcs how right you are, i have always flown a pop top, what a great deflation it really is!
