i tend to agree with ollie, both beady eye and the high flying birds aren't quite as great as oasis ever was, but both projects have their specialties. just because noel's album contains a lot of songs that are essentially commercially friendly, doesn't mean beady eye are worthless. both are great bands that each keep half of the oasis aesthetic alive.

The only reason Noel Gallagher has gone solo is because he has nothing else to do. He chose to walk out of Oasis and whether it wasn't his fault or not: it was his decision. But Liam has new opportunities, all he needed to do was assign one of the band Noel's position (much to Noel's dislike) whereas Noel had to find some anonymous random jakeys off the street and call them the "High Flying Birds."

Really it's the other way around, as all noel had to do was hire a few good musicians and keep his own songs and then he gets the added bonus of ditching his dickhead brother. Sounds like a winning situation to me, not forgetting the two albums due to be released within the space of a year, Noel couldn't have it better really

@Olie23231 yea i suppose it works the other way too, noel can easily replace the other members, but he doesn't have a voice like liam's and the high flying birds will never be as good as oasis. beady eye and noel gallagher are both playing different types of music now and it's not going to be the same as oasis, so people are obviously going to have different opinions on the two, however, i think it is fair to say that although gem, andy and liam are great, noel is clearly the better songwriter..
