Didn't know Chuck Norris was fat back then.

  • really Michael Spindler? that's why you got kicked out of Apple in 3 years... you just contributed to the lost decade of Apple thank god Steve returned soon

  • turn kids on lol

  • There are a couple of schools in brazil that have abolished books and are adopting the iPad to distribute studying materials...

  • Lol at the background music. Sounds like final fantasy

  • 5:09 look like iMac in nowaday

  • Face time was better in that time

  • Except the reality is that they only play games with it now that we have all this, we are so stupid.

  • ipad conpect

  • Ahh their vision on the iPhone&pad made mo lol!

  • so einstaein and tessla more tessla had future ideas that didnt makes sense or money sense

  • Its only just begun. RIP Steve... You've changed the world and will never be forgotten.

  • @TrollAndStuff Steve Jobs was not in Apple in 1995. He left it in 1985 and came back in 1997. Accordingly to the description of the video this was included in a demo CD in 1995, 2 years before Steve Jobs came back in Apple and 10 years after he left it. So as you can see it is very unlikely that Steve Jobs had anything to do with this video.

  • @TheWakkoWarner This is interesting and true... but i do hear his voice at 0:11 maybe this was one of his independent ideas that he made and brought to apple in 97'

  • if they would only knew, that their all hopes connected to the shown future - is actually wasting time watching stupid youtube videos and purposeless surfing on Facebook

  • @khalukhin Yep

  • Steve Jobs...greats since 1987

  • RIP Steve

  • we are now the future of their era.

  • damn that tablet is super fast!! Multitasking with live video and watching other videos and checking messages all at the same time? Yeah we are not in the future yet...

  • Cyberlink is used just to sound fancier :) Hey, let's have cyber*** :)

  • I forgot about this. They should have released this.

  • The first REAL IPad of the 1990's

  • wow Peter was really helpful

  • at 5:04 , it looks like a TAM!!

  • All the teacher in my school have an Ipad for stuff like this

  • 4:18 HELLO I'am eating an apple from the 90's and surfing on the cybernet, in the 90's

    90's 90's 90's 90's

  • I'm watching this on an iPad 3 prototype. Cool!! it's in 3D and I use Swipe texting.". and people around me are using flexible and bendable screens! 2012 is a great year!

  • You know what sucks? Just as technology is reaching this point, people are losing interest in science.

  • Everything is going exactly how Apple planned. That woman was working on an "iPad", obviously and with Apple's purchase of the company Siri the software will eventually catch up. Now add Apple's ridiculous success and unlimited cash flow Apple is leading the charge into the future whether you like it or not

  • Wow that is one clunky interface.Pretty crazy how ahead of its time Apple was.

  • Well, the technology is here - hopefully, the ecology will still be there for some long time.

  • 1995 was the year that Newton 2.0 won 'Best of Show' for best operating system category, beating out Windows 95. It was Apple's first tablet pc, but Apple's CEO coined the term 'PDA' for it and soon the PDA market was born. The Palm Pilot eventually won out, but where are they now? Sold to HP, who will try to use it against iPad. How ironic is that.

  • Their vision seems like it is still better than the iPad. Perhaps the iPad is really just meant to be more of an entertainment device than a really useful, portable workstation (seems that way)

  • Thats the iPad and cloud computing! Bravo Apple! The Power To Be Your Best!

  • twenty years late they finally release a slate device, and their concept was still better than their final product.

  • Um, It says "1995 Apple Computers, Inc" right at the end

  • @DLebsock 1995 is still in the 1990s

  • So this will be what the iPad will be like with FaceTime. Apple was wayyy ahead of their time.

  • I hopeful and insightful vision of the future. Sad it never turned out like this. The Internet is a disgusting place.

  • @SlightyDisturbedNBK thanx for being truthful

  • come back, 90's ='(

  • The computers shown appear to be the (slab) LC 475 and (all-in-one) LC 550 or 575. Some GUI elements (e.g. title bars) are from the Hi-Tech theme released as a skin for OS 8, but developed before for the failed Copland OS. Other elements (e.g. accordion folders) were part of Copland demos but not released in Mac OS. In the mid-nineties Apple also marketed the Apple VideoPhone camera and software to business and education markets. My guess at timeframe is between March 1995 and August 1996.

  • @newbill123 you really need to find somethings else to do...

  • from the comments it sounds like people think this was a real product.

im pretty sure this is just a concept, and the screen images are simulated.

  • so this was better than the ipad is now.. no videoconferencing on our pad

  • @thisisrobertb being apple they tend to add in more function w/ every release of their device. Facetime and front-facing camera if added can do videoconferencing. I remember watching this video a long time ago.

Remember that the flip cell-phone (startac) motorola (or any flip-phones for that matter) wouldn't hv come into existance if it wasn't for the Tricorder in those very early star trek series. Some things start from somewhere, be it design or be it idea.

  • What year was this video released?

  • Who knew that that is the basis of the Ipad today.

  • Well they really hit it now with the new phone

  • ewwwww! it has a stylus

  • Hmmm... at least that tablet has a web cam (roll eyes)

  • cyber link lol

  • Haha, I prefer the 2010 version

  • hahahahahahahahaha, this is better than the ipad! it can already do more the ipad can! :D

  • Get Apple I-Pad for FREE!

    bit [DOT] ly/bHwG4X

  • The videophone idea was doomed from the get-go. Sometimes you just want to sit around like a slob and don't want to explain to some asshole why you're not cutting on the video feed

  • cyberlink lol

  • i like the apple xD

  • Comment removed

  • its features are good but it looks like shit

  • Man, just makes you realise how far we've come in just over 10 years........

  • jeah every kid can get this technologie now;

u only need about 1500$ for ur imac.......

  • @QM_GATEWAY ??

Wow ! I'd forgotten all about Quick Mail !

  • OLD SCHOOL!

  • this one has video conference, and the ipad doesnt? faill....

  • @kaitokid83 This one needs a stylus. Fail.

  • o thts y apple computers donot play vdo games

  • Mmm... Nothing like subtle racism. The black teacher is so lucky that she knows that white guy with a beard. She just can't figure out how to complete the lesson. And Peter can't even let her finish her sentences. But he has the info she doesn't. Thank goodness for the white guy. Sheesh.

  • Comment removed

  • @BartelbyDScrivener It has nothing to do with the fact that the she's black, it's because she's a woman that she needs the white man to help.

  • As apposed to the not so subtle racism you've just displayed? Focusing and finding it in everyday life can be done with the most innocent of examples, and propagates what you claim to hate.

    /sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • "It is thy business that I go about"....erm....?

  • This OS is OpenDoc - Apple had a web browser called cyberdog... the entire OS was object based... very cool, Apple was develping this with IBM. OSX could have done this.... but Apple commercialized it.... personally, I am wishing foe the return of publish and subscribe...

  • Notice the fruit being eaten around 3:40

  • "Here, I'll send you a cyberlink!"

I really don't remember anyone *ever* calling them cyberlinks. Ever.

  • @icecastles Well When did HTML Came out (out in the open)?

oh Right in Mid 90' (Berner Lee finished Drafting It in late 91)

And Hyperlink naming was late in the conception.

HTML 2 was published only in Late 1995.

So before making the call on what's credible or not just try to replace this piece of history in Its Historical context :

1995 = No widely avalaible World Wide Web as we know It, not even talking about the terminology used today

  • Are you literate?

  • @hammerikaner What is your question?

In this vid the term "Cyberlink" is used most certainly because "Hyperlink" wasn't even associated with 'contextual web links' as it is nowaday.

  • @Hypothesard

mmm, dunno, back in 95 we had a webcafé in London, running Netscape, and at work I had dual channel ISDN. Hyperlinks & emails, yeah, those were things.

I suspect that cyberlink was a different idea, something with a cybernetic (ie: intelligent) aspect to it...

  • Sounds FANTASTIC! "I'll send you a cyberlink".

Yeah! All guys who say that r really cool and popular. I wanna be popular!

I mean. Isn't it great?U laying with your girlfriend, kissing her and ask her if u can send her a cyberlink. So romantic...

  • @icecastles lol Cyberlink, pretty sure it's a DVD burning software that comes bundled with all HP, Dell and Acer computers

  • yeah I agree... they need to lead with this tomorrow, or the older one with the college professors.

  • Can't wait for the iSlate!!!

  • Fuck! Check out the video on the minute 00:15... the table is paint as the sign (advertisement) of tomorrow´s (Feb 27th) keynote "Come see our latest creation"

  • I know it was part of a series released in 1997, but this video was still for 1995.

  • It's from 1995!

    See copyright notice @ 6:25

  • Look at the tablet desktop computer. It kinda resembles one of the iMac G5s, but in black.

  • I'll send you a "Cyberlink" - LOLOLOL!

  • @keloidformer Sounds better than hyperlink or just link.

  • Dude! this is 1995 video not 1997. See for yourself at the end of the video and at the bottom of the screen: © 1995 Apple Computer, Inc.

This means this is a pre-Steve Jobs era Apple Vision for Education / Learning.

  • @fefermin That is just the copyright date that doesn't necessarily mean mean that's when this was made

  • I really hope Apple lead with this video tomorrow at the Event.

  • haha the video conferencing would never be so clear in 1997 dialup.

  • The copyright date at the end says 1995.

  • Where for art thou Tablet?

  • Yea because "hyperlink" is so less geeky and nerdy or even '90s

  • i'll send you a cyberlink.

  • Gotta love the maaaagical music in the background

  • Hahaha, "Here, I'll send you a cyberlink".

Oh, 90s, your vision of tech terminology was so amusing.
