To all those people calling these kids 'pussies' should really shut up. Of course they won't be tough and as aggressive as teens - adults, they're 10 year-old house leaguers.
At least in Eastern PA/ Southern NJ. Lineman aren't set. Even still, we always have one kid watching the ball, so when this is tried we told the kids to hit the qb and hard.
Would've been a lot better if a kid from the other team realized the QB had actually hiked the ball, and when the QB thought he got away with it and takes off running, he gets JACKED UP.

This isn't war. It's a game, and a game has rules. The rules state: "Any action or verbage used to deceive the defense into thinking that the ball is not about to become live is illegal."
if that ball is given to the QB from the center either in a snap or "side snap" you go and level the guy with the ball, even if they claim something is wrong. No whistle is blown, that play is live.
I've seen this sad play a few times now. I can't wait to see a linebacker pick up on it and destroy the QB while he's holding the ball up and looking at his coach.

Sad, very sad. I saw this play once a few years back in a youth game. I have been officiating for over 25 years at the college and HS level and I donate my time to our local youth club. Our coach pulled this play, or something similiar. I blew the play dead then had a long talk with our coach in regards to what youth football is about, that is teaching the game, not crap like this. This will never help the kids as the develope. Coach probably never played or if he did, was a loser.

I mean, the first time the double pass was run on us in middle school, we weren't even sure that it was legal. But I totally agree with you. Youth football is all about fundementals. Sad, very sad. I saw this play once a few years back in a youth game. I have been officiating for over 25 years at the college and HS level and I donate my time to our local youth club. Our coach pulled this play, or something similiar. I blew the play dead then had a long talk with our coach in regards to what youth football is about, that is teaching the game, not crap like this. This will never help the kids as the develope. Coach probably never played or if he did, was a loser.

@lolspazm This play has NOTHING to do with teaching young kids (and they look young) about playing and learning the game. This was nothing more than some parent-coach out smarting a bunch of kids. Guess the coach can't out smart people his own age and it makes him feel good about doing it to young kids. Perhaps instead of teaching the kids the fundamentals of the game, we could just send in constant trick plays to help the sagging egos of the adult coaches.

No one really cares how long you have been officiating, you were quick to let everyone know how great you are. If a ref is doing his job, then he is not blowing the ball dead on a legit play. These were kids having some fun, plain and simple. You are the loser.

@cv73501 This was the only trick play ran on us in youth. Even though he didn't make it far, (like 10 yards and it was the last play of the first half) it was still dirty. I mean, the first time the double pass was run on us in middle school, we weren't even sure that it was legal. But I totally agree with you. Youth football is all about fundementals. You can worry about winning when you play highschool football. I've been playing 10 years straight btw.
