  • Those turned out pretty cool, I don't know why everyone is being a jerk.

  • those rings were butt ugly examples.

  • ***** Thats Super cool *****

  • you shouldnt be doing resin shit, for real, i mean, this is the worse tutorial i have ever seen...from the moment you started making the mould i KNEW you didnt even knew what you were doing what a waste of sillicon, and resin...

btw, those are fucking ugly rings, i cant even stare at the second clear one you did...no words to describe how stupid you are to work with this kind of materials, you shouldnt be doing tutorials, please quit.

  • I have the Mold Builder liquid latex rubber. How would I go about to make a mold for a ring as well?

  • Where can one find (buy) the knead a mold product, and what is the price of it??

  • there is clear Resin?? only seen the brown stuff... where do you get the clear resin?

  • hi i want to have a try of this, i have seen some easyflo 6, some rtv silicone rubber mould and some release spray, i was just wondering what sort of temperature you should leave the resin to set in, i would be doing it in my shed so it would not be too warm or too cold. Any help and tips would be great :D thanks

  • Goggles: MEKP (hardener) will blind instantly.

ID10T: Wear a respirator with an OV filter unless you're retarded (because you will be if you keep using it without vapor protection).

15 drops is too much MEKP for that size mold - It destroys the clarity and causes cracking/crazing. That's also why it set up so fast.

  • too much fiddly diddly bs when making your mould.. next time, just take the lump of latex or w.e and smush it on..

  • horrible lighting

  • Thanks so much! I was trying to figure out a good mixing ration for that amount of resin and your tutorial showed me! Great job!

  • just search donnaliza on google and u will be able to find a lot of sorts of fabulous rings.

  • WE GET ITS HOT

  • If you use one of the slower setting resins not only will it be less smelly but you can put mixed resin into a little squeeze bottle to make pouring it into the mold easier. Especially good for small items.

  • This kind of resin has a very strong odor. The more smelly any kind of resin it is, the faster it cures. Low odor resin will take more time to cure.

Leaving your items in the molds, will allow it to show less finger prints/marks, and require less sanding. Also, covering your pieces while letting them dry will help prevent unwanted objects, or even dust/lint from falling into your projects. I like to use a clear container to keep eye on air bubbles, instead of a regular box.

    :]

  • Lamest thing that ever came out of a 3D printer.

  • harf a cup resin / to tabul spoon catalyst or if it cold day more it can blister your skin catalyst too

  • is that castin' craft? If so Can you tell me how the catalyst and resin ration works?

  • what is the name of the silicone you are using? and where can I get some? Thanks

  • Geez, now I want to make a Green Lantern ring so bad...

  • the mold is plasticine? the resin is heated as it cools?

  • What 3-D model and printing machine allowed you to create your first ring?

  • Whell, a real 3d printer costs 5000 dollars. But you can google 3d printing service.

  • so pretty!!! i might try this

  • Thanks, that was really great!! I love big ol resin rings and look forward to trying this myself!!!

  • is resin safe to use for 13 year olds?

  • probably unless you want to inhale it... then milk could even be dangerious...

  • thank you

  • It is safe for the skin as far as I know, simply try not to let them get covered with it. Working with gloves is recommended. Be careful though, the monomer (unreacted resin, which is often styrene) isn't that toxic, but the hardener, which is often methyl ethyl ketone peroxide, is quite potent as a poison.

  • Thanks for the video.I wish you had a video on making the plastic you used to make the mold.

  • is resin safe to use for 13 y/os?

  • No it makes you skip puberty. Lol I don't know

  • what kind of pigment can be used? will food coloring work with the resin?

  • i cant believe you are making RFID chip rings!!!! They are eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevviiiiiiilllllllllllllll!!! What a waste of resin. Nice informative vid tho

  • Becky, Kipkay, and how to tuesdays is the reason why i love make <3

  • Thank You for this informative video. I have been trying to make a Green Lantern Glow Ring for my son.

I had problem with the resin part as it came out pasty. After I saw you use the same material I now know how to better mix the resin so that it does harden and not come out as a paste. Even after drying.

  • Thanks for this very useful in creating my dread rings for my Predator mask!!

  • We used to do stuff like this at summer camp, putting bugs, pennies, whatever in it.

  • Excellent, i won't be making rings but, since i do race r/c, i can make my own parts, some of them anyway, i cannot thank you enough, you rock, also, my wife WILL be making rings, she told me to thank you too, cheers!

  • where can i get pourable resin i couldnt find any on the home depot website (i need it for a rubiks cube im building)

  • I got mine at Michaels's. You can probably get some at Hobby Lobby too.

  • i ended up finding some @ an autoshop but thanx anyway :)

  • at 5:18 you said that you would add 15 drops but you only added six

  • it's sped up

  • I did a tray for my Aunt and Uncle who play bridge. Painted wood tray, thenI put cards all the way around the edge. Made sure my surface was level and did a clear poured resin, came out cool, and was once of a kind gift.

  • This video gives the impression that pourable silicone is only available as a hard to measure assymetrical mix.

There are pourable silicones that are 1:1 mix. Much easier to use.

  • Don't use those plastic cups. I used one with fiberglass resin and it burned threw the cup.

  • I wonder if this would work for miniatures? Maybe for warhammer 40k or D&D. Would save some bucks considering that most miniatures costs around 20 for just a few.

  • i was just thinking that, my friend casted some tau stealth suits then put clear resin in the mold so he has see threw versions of them its very cool.

  • this would also be very useful if you want to duplicate old school models, conversions, or if your making a custom army and using another armies rules main models

  • I have a modle of the Robotech Mac II Monster from Matchbox, and it's still in the original box and I was looking for a way to make another one for display so I can leave it in it's box. I think I'm going to try this out soon..

  • I thought it might work out nice.. can you get pics of what your friend did? would love to see them and the originals..

  • CONGRATULATIONS!

this is makemagazine's 200th video on youtube :D

  • whaaa

  • not me

  • worlds biggest pervert.

  • Are you talking about sinistermoon? If so, I agree.

  • ya haha

  • its you!! remeber me?

  • Dude, we're on each other's friend lists...

  • oh yeah. we have like 10 of the same subscriptions

  • Haha, I'm sure we do...

  • in school we used silicon to make a molds, i made a computer mouse mold, its pretty cool... and pink! :P

  • i love you

  • The one ring to rule them all!

  • I saw an artist who put the resin in a condiment bottle for good cood control during pour. (He made like 50 items in one pour so split over each item it was affordable)

  • You should make multiple molds so you can pour several at a time.

  • A little.

  • wooooooooow 200 clips...Congrats.

you should make a special video for that.

  • yes it's cool. no the average person can't do this.

  • I assumed u use SOLIDWORK it to rendered & print out that ring. ^^

  • why the hell would they post this??

    make gone mad?

just stick to the old dude making awesome stuff.. right?

  • agree

  • lol

  • would alginate be ok to use for a mold in this project?

  • Usually resin reacts badly with water-causing it to bubble-never cure or become cloudy. So usually dental grade alginate wont work unless it's really dry and even then it's hit or miss depending on the resin. Smooth-on has a product called Alja-Safe that does work with it's Smooth-Cast 300Q resin. But your better off just buying a 1:1 mix pourable silicone like OOMOO 25. Smooth-on, Slipak, and Polytek all make good products and have good customer support to help find the right products.

  • I might stay with making cookies. I think making your own wearable plastic is extremely wasteful in single use materials.

  • that was great
