The Sonata is a great car. I have a 2007 with the 3.3l. 0-100kph in 6.7seconds, looks great, great gas mileage and can cruise all day at 140kph. Did I mention extremely reliable and cheap to service? Perhaps that is why NA cars aren't selling.
It does have a +/- "tiptronic" style shifter, but once RPM gets into redline, box shifts up automatically even if you don't move the shifter. However, change points are made at higher RPM than if left in D.
What are you talking about?!? Bone stock Aurion can did 0-100 in just 6.3 seconds & some people even did it in 6 seconds... From where did ya get 7.4 seconds?!?!
I have a 2007 Sonata I4 (4 cylinders not V6)and I can tell you it likes to run. The car has ability to go over 130 mph without any problems or vibration. A great car for less.
V6 Sonatas can reach over 150 mph. Only excellent cars can reach such speeds.
Its not a best car ever made. Its not most luxury. Its not fastest. Its not best looking either.
However, how can you not like the car that can go 6.6 sec 0-60 for $17,500( Actual selling price of V6 w/o leather) brand new with 10/100,000 wanrranty.
You can't even buy a base Civic for that price and that does about 8.5 sec 0-60.
Brand new lexus have more toys than BMWs and Lexus are most reliable. First car that can park itself. Line depature system, 8 speed automatic, massaging back seat.......so much mor. 8 problems per 100 new lexus. What is BMWs excuse?
The new sonata V6 is not slow at all... I once met it in the road and I gave that guy the chance to push gas before me because I thought even if he pushed before me, I'll pass him put that didn't happen... But when we pushed togther, no one won although have a 2005 3.0 Camry not 3.5
Im a big fan of Mitsu, Have a vr4 swap into a 2003 galant but hyundai Sonata V6 still keep up stock, with a few bolt ons uni chip and some minor upgrades Sonata could put some ricers to shame, all for under 20k. Im more so impressed with Tibby w/Supercharger, I hope they make one for a 2006+ Sonata. Im pretty sure, Mitsu is getting help from Hyundai on the new Evo X, as Hyundai has refined Shiftronic.
Got to love smoking a V8 with a modded Hyundai, it's pretty funny knowing the other person spent 10k more bucks for something that can't even beat a hyundai.
yeah hyundai used mitsubishi engine so long time ago. not now man. stupid. recently, mitsubishi is rubbish. mitsubishi is not a competitive company any more.
I love this new Sonata design. It's a seriosu looking car. Sexy sedan. I really like Hyundai, even though they aren't the most dependable cars out there. The 3.3L V6 is actaully a Mitsubishi engine. I hate Mitsubishi. I think they built overpriced junk.
Mitsubishi owns Hyundai. Hyundai has used major Mitsubishi compenents like engines and transmissions. The 3.0L V6 used in the Sonata from '89-97 (also in the XG300) was terrible and was a Mitsubishi engine. Also used in many Chryslers of the late 80's and early '90's. The best engines in Hyundai vehicles surprsingly have been Hyundai designed.
Not sure about now but Mitsubishi did own stakes in Hyundai. It was strategic partnership to supply Hyundai with engines. Old Excel had Mitsubishi engines. No different than GM owning parts of Toyota even though Toyota is much bigger than GM now.

Hyundai Sonata 3.3 V6 does it in 7.7
Honda Accord V6 0-100 km/h: 7.5
Toyota Camry 3.5 V6 6.5 seconds.
Btw. Why put FAMILY CARS INTO HIGH SPEED?
If they are all new, the one with better power/weight radio will win.
