offshore drilling is not safe. katrina completely destroyed 113 oil rigs in the gulf of mexico. the media has not widely reported this, and other ecological disasters during the bush administration. burning fossil fuels is not safe. more children have asthma, and respiratory related illnesses then ever before. just what kind of world do we intend to leave to our children? now is really not the time to excuse short sighted greed. we need to develop alternative energy technologies like yesterday.

Uhh, Katrina was a a hurricane and it was a catastrophic one at that. Hurricanes like these do not happen every day and accidents caused by natural disasters cannot be controlled at the moment. Offshore drilling did not bring Katrina about and at the moment gas companies are well aware that this is not a safe source of energy, but it is the best choice we have currently. I think you should consider going back to coal powered engines and see how great that is so that you can appreciate drilling.

It would take a large corperation with government funding to develop viable alternative energy.
